With all the madness around, they were calm, cool and collected. They did not over charge, quality plywood sheets were given and they worked endless hours in the heat with hardly any breaks on loading cars/trucks. To anyone that tries to claim price gouging, you are literally, out of your mind and clearly showed up last min with your "entitled self". When a truck full of 400 sheets showed up from Pompano, they selflessly stayed after until the last one was gone. The site showed $32 per sheet but that specific one (thickness) sold out... then they went to the thicker sheets which were $40... as do all stores. I'm super grateful for them because I just moved here with the military and was away for school in Virginia, so I came back right in time for a major hurricane. All the stores were sold out and he said to come by. Thank you International Plywood and Team for everything, I'm definitely bringing some cookies by, post-storm, to show my appreciation. P.S. great quality sheets and I feel much safer facing this beast of a hurricane.

Realizing that using black electrical tape was not aesthetically pleasing to the designer wannabe's…read moreeye, I drove myself off to the local hardware, which according to Yelp was the ACE Hardware located on 284 NE 79th St In Miami. In short they gave me an estimate of $8.00 for 5 small rolls of different colored electrical tape with 1 small white one in. OMG I was appalled. Disgusted with Yelp I turned to Google and found the Little River Building & Home Supply store. It wasn't far from this ACE Robbery store. I did not have high hopes as I had never heard of this place and it seemed to be off the beaten path for sure. It was 4:30 in the afternoon on a Saturday, and like most places in Little Haiti I was expecting it to be closed or be closing soon. I pull up, and pull in, and behind the counter, to me; (which to you may seem odd), is two medium framed, Italian Middle Aged ladies who seem to mean business. One lady clearly runs the store, the other is either family, or is just providing company. I obviously seem exasperated because the one Italian mafia looking middle aged lady asks me how she can help me, which I think is quite refreshing in Little Haiti, but anyway, I tell her I am desperately looking for white electrical tape, a feat that seems to be elusive as finding Dom Perignon on 54th and NE 2nd Ave. She turns away from me and I think, yeah they don't have it either, I should probably should just look online. She turns back to me holding a large roll of white electrical tape and says, "here we go". I look at her like she is definitely the Italian Mafia. I ask her how much. She says; "$3 dollars". Well that was that right there. Like someone out there said; it's all in the little things. It damn well sure is. I have been back three times since. The Owners name is Laguna. I don't think she's Italian. I have never had the audacity to ask. I think she has some handsome sons though, and I think perhaps they put in a shift or two at the store, but I think on the whole she works herself to death there. Her husband died years ago. She told me she knew more than her husband did, and I believe her. I once told her about a speaker wire project I was doing and she asked me I about the points I was using. I had never heard of a point but I had seen one. I just never put two and two together. I told her about the silver mirror that was hanging by a miracle and a wisp of air, she scolded me on the chosen anchor and educated me on the correct anchor as well as the overall use of the stud finder while I was trying to find a stud finder app on my IPHONE. What I can tell you if you're a Man - I mean you must be reading this for something informational enough to want to go to this store, is that their 80lb cement bags are $6.90 each, and it doesn't matter how much you want they have it on hand. And you are so welcome; I took all those pictures just for you big daddy.

Florida Lumber, where have you been my whole life??…read more As a full-time landlord, I am constantly renovating, fixing and upgrading. Amazon has rapidly replaced Home Depot for me as a source for a wide variety of affordable finishing goods (light fixtures, vanities, faucets). However, for rough goods, like lumber, plywood and durock, I have been stuck with Home Depot. After I had a particularly terrible experience with a $5,000+ order from Home Depot that got screwed up in ways too complicated and depressing to write about, the roofing professional I use mentioned Florida Lumber. Then, my HVAC guy also recommended them. Yet, I still went on to place another order with Home Depot for lumber. The aggravation that ensued was 100% on me for not learning my lesson! I called Florida Lumber to inquire about pricing on 3/4 inch pressure treated plywood. Not only are they significantly cheaper than Home Depot, they offer free delivery on orders over $500, PLUS they allow you to place the order over the phone and pay online using a credit card (versus having to go IN to the store as one does with Home Depot). I called the day before the scheduled delivery to get a time frame and given a 2 hour window (Home Depot makes you pay extra for a 2 hour window). Next, Kevin, and extremely polite and professional guy, called the morning of to confirm. He also called to advise when the driver was 30 minutes away, and then again to let me know that the driver was there at the property. The delivery guy had no problem dropping the plywood exactly where I needed it to go and even asked if it was OK to drive on my freshly poured driveway. From start to finish, I was impressed with Florida Lumber's prices, convenience and customer service. I am officially finished with Home Depot!
