Dancing Cherubs is an event organised every Saturday at the Westbourne Studios near Portobello Road (starting in September 2008). It is a kind of Disco for children and it describes itself as a family disco which is apparently big in the US. In the open space of the Westbourne Studios, a DJ plays child-friendly music, mostly commercial pop and R&B (just a bit too loud which was the only problem we had). The children there were 5 to 6 on average, ranging from 1 to 10 years. All of them had a lot of fun as there is a lot of space, they can run, scream and dance as much as they can and it's a big party just for them (there is also face painting and a girl was organissing games for the children to teh sound of teh music). We organised the 5th birthday party of our eldest daughter there and it was a great success, the kids loved it and we had time to talk to our friends (their parents). The bar and restaurant area is open for the event which means that there is a bar (although we brought our own drinks and food and that was fine) and large tables where we all sat for the birthday cake. If you are looking for somewhere different to organise a children birthday party, this is a good option (better than home for us in this instance). Tickets are a bit expensive at £8 a head (parents and children) but we paid £6 for each as we had a group but also got the table booked. The event we attended was for pirates and princesses which added more fun as most children were dressed up for the occasion. Worth checking once with your little princes or pirate and some friends, especially if you live in the neighbourhood (W10, W11, W2). read more
