My kids are 2 and 3, and we easily spent about 2.5-3 hours exploring. There was SO much to do that we actually ended up spending most of our Terre Haute day here instead of making it to the other places I had planned. What I loved most was that the exhibits weren't just fun -- they encouraged kids to learn through play. There were opportunities to pretend to be construction workers, veterinarians and farmers, dig for dinosaur bones, explore engineering and physics, learn about seasons, and so much more. My kids especially loved the construction area, sand table, water play, pretend-play areas, Amazing Airways and the giant bubble you can actually stand inside! They also have a two-story treehouse, toddler area, Fit Gym, Fresh & Fit Market/Kitchen, and their new Wonders of the Wabash water exhibit. There are three floors, so there was plenty to explore. I also really appreciated that there were activities for different ages, although some features -- like the ropes course -- have height requirements. My kids weren't tall enough for that yet. Admission is very reasonable at $9 for ages 2+, with children under 2 free. They're also part of the Access Pass Program and offer Toddler Tuesdays. If you're visiting Terre Haute with kids, I would definitely put this on your list! We could have easily spent even longer here.

REX Baseball is a wood bat league for college players to develop their baseball skills over the summer. The REX is one of hundreds of teams across the country that recruit players from all 50 states, Canada, South America and Puerto Rico. The REX is part of a 12 team league called the Prospect League, which started in 2009. The facility is always welcoming, clean, good hometown fun. The place is not large, but again, it is a well built place and is not even that old. It is easy to find in downtown Terre Haute, just west of 3rd street. They have some concession food and beer options too. Porta-potties are your only bathroom option.

I signed up for a dye class using various woods for dye. The instructor was great, and we made some lovely samples. After the class, I checked out the outside vendors (including several yarn trucks - like food trucks, but yarn), and observed a bit of shearing. Then I went inside where the majority of the vendors were. SO MANY THINGS. Fibers of all kinds, yarn, spinning wheels, knit/crochet kits, dyes, looms, accessories, findings, yarn bowls, fiber mills, fiber-themed mugs - you name it, it was probably there. I picked up several yarns, some indigo dye, and a ceramic yarn bowl. One thing to be prepared for, and my only dissatisfaction, is that cellular connection there is weak. I only had $3 cash on me, and some of the vendors had trouble using their card readers, since they require the internet. I was going to buy a pile of some deeply discounted sock yarn, but could not purchase with card. There were also only a couple food vendors, and the one I chose only took cash. We got to meet Eva and talk to her about her experiences, which was very cool. I, now an adult, recently visited again. Eva has now passed away, but her story and legacy is laced throughout this museum. The museum staff was very respectful and knowledgeable. You can let them guide you through the museum or go at your own pace. It's a small museum, but it has very cool exhibits and the personal touch from a real survivor is awesome. I, as a teacher, enjoyed the various discussion questions prompted throughout the museum, which I assume are mostly for school children on trips. After all, teaching children history, how to spot a leader or policy that doesn't have everyone's best interest in mind, and compassion is the best way to prevent another tragic event like the Holocaust.
