They have Harlequin and sprung wooden floors (Heaven!), all with large mirrors (super important to correct your form while practicing) and are well maintained and clean. During the week they hold a variety of dance classes in different disciplines. Good idea to keep an eye out for their taster nights where you can try out a class before committing to a full course. Last I looked they had everything from something called Kangaroo Power to the more familiar Jazz, Burlesque, Hip Hop, Irish, Ballroom, Flamenco etc. running as evening classes. Just the ticket when you want to try something new after work; it was here that I first learnt the joy of Lindy Hop. The area isn't the best, but they have a buzzer system at the door and a security desk, so you can feel safe and that your belongings are secure while training there. There's also a bit of on street parking about, but not much so possibly better to get there on foot.

She's strict yet gentle and always encouraging, and she's created a real community who's loyal to her classes. Classes are 90 minutes and €15, and Arianna makes sure you get your money's worth. There's about an hour of barre work and then half an hour of a floor routine and then (time permitting) exercises down the floor ie turns, a combo etc. Then, of course, you always end with (the dreaded) jumps. It's a really good workout, and I'm always sore for at least 2 days after. I'm only sad I can't go anymore, since I've moved away. Thanks Arianna for reminding me how much I love ballet!

It's a very cool venue, like a Hard Rock Cafe, full of music memorabilia like guitars, autographs, record, costumes, etc. Very cool place for a ballet studio. The class is for adults (25+) and caters for a drop-in class. Arianna pays attention to all of her students, new or not. She focuses on your technique, posture and movements, and answers doubts about exercises. She's also strict, as a good ballet teacher should be, which helps so much with improving technique. It's also a demanding class, giving the class a very professional feeling. It's a fantastic workout, the music is beautiful and the studio is well designed for dancing. The class is 60mins, mostly barre and at the end center work and always finishing with an adagio. Great find and highly recommended

They recently added Surf Fit, which i am totally willing to try. The room sizes are very variable, so if you want to host a dance class, you have options depending on the size of your audience. Also, there is heating available in the classes, which is great when you have a class in winter. If you require help (the sound system is not working, for instance) you ask for help downstairs or at the bar next door, as they are managed by the same people. It's a nice place where artists such as the Riverdance crew come to rehearse, or where pop stars come to practice before their show in the O2 just nearby.

Dance experience (or talent) is not necessary and it is suitable for all fitness levels. If you like to dance (even if you don't think you're good at it) and/or enjoy Latin music, but hate to "exercise", you will love Zumba. Classes are held in the gym on the second floor at 6 PM on Monday and 6 PM and 7 PM on Wednesdays. The instructors are excellent and worthy of 5 stars. The venue is large but very worn. Drop-in charge for an individual class is currently 10 euros. (You can also buy a pass or membership card for a discount on multiple classes.) Wear gym clothes and shoes and bring a towel and water. It will make you sweat! But it will also make you smile.

I took their intermediate adult ballet class and was very satisfied. The studio is quite small, which accommodates 5-6 students tops. This means a very personalized class. The teacher is very good too. This means she will pay attention to your technique and push and pull and bend and stretch and move and yes, muscle soreness will ensue but that's just another way of your muscles thanking you, isn't it? Because of the small size, the teacher gets to know you and what areas you need to work on. I was unaware I can't do a correct side port de bras without twisting my shoulder. The class is made up of mid 20s - 40+ both male and female. The one thing that could be better would be to have mirrors under the bars to see your footwork, but other than that I am one happy dancer here!

It's a small space in the dodgy part of portobello, right next to the food co-op. You enter the building and go up one flight of stairs, and to my knowledge there's only one studio. It's a strange space, with a long narrow room and not exactly suited to Zumba sized crowds, but I LOVED my experience at ballet last night. Veronika is great, really detail oriented and focused on getting everyone to learn with proper technique. I wish she was around when I was learning ballet the first time around! The class is 85% barre work, with the other 15% across the floor (ie jetes, Shanay turns) and a brief floor combo at the end. I thought it was suitable for beginners and improvers, and at €15 for 90 minutes I think you really get your money's worth. Veronika is strict (as you would hope with a ballet teacher) but keeps class fun and is really encouraging. Found my new Wednesday night spot :)

Its really well kitted out here, plenty of free weights, benches, machines, squat racks and most importantly bars and plates are in abundance. If you have any issues the staff are quick to email you back in the main office and the staff in the gym itself are always very pleasant too. Nobody really bothers you here so you can get in and get it done if thats your kind of thing. They even have astro type fake well cushioned grass to stretch on and do floor exercises. Obviously if you come here during peak times you are asking for it - take your place among the rat run. But if you can get in when its quiet there is plenty of space to practice your best poses for the Arnold Classic! Never had a problem here, would genuinely be sad if I left Dublin to see the back of this place. Its a great gym... Come here on Friday and Saturday nights if you want to get to grips with a different kinda bar.
