I've taken classes here & rent it for my own classes. It's pretty spacious & affordable. The space can be split into different sections for private lessons and a class, though if music is playing it could be a little loud. Love the setup, and all the disco/lights make it fun. Plus, Catherine and Rock are the nicest! read more

My friend lead a class here today. She rented out the space. I had a great time! It seems like there was a divider, so the space could be much bigger if needed. We were a group of about 20 dancers, and while it was packed, we still had our own space. It got hot pretty quickly, but thankfully there were fans that cooled us down. Do you know that smells kind of linger in the small space. It seems like an older building and smells a little like one, but you get used to the smell quickly. Since it's intimate, you can smell other folks too (but that isn't the venue's fault). They have one gender, neutral bathroom. I love that they have a water fountain. They also have plenty of free parking spots outside. It's a pretty casual space. The other side of the dividers seem to have more natural lighting and more mirrors. Our side had a smaller mirror. I had a great time dancing at the studio. read more

Just regular folks teaching other folks, like me, how to dance. They know how to break it down so it's easy to catch on. Lovely wood floors; big space; super nice people. I don't know why I waited so long! Very reasonable prices. Come alone or with a partner. I knew nothing. Now, after only 4 lessons, I feel like I could dance at a wedding; party; etc. Really looking forward to my next lesson! read more

Catherine does a wonderful job guiding you step-by-step through beginning to advanced moves. She's very patient and professional. This dance studio is also very affordable and it's a nice set up. Highly recommend! read more

I found Dance Masters through a Groupon for 6 private lessons, but you also have the opportunity to attend a beginner's group class as well. My girlfriend and I have thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Individual dancers are welcome too; my mom is interested herself. Thanks to Rock, Katherine, and the rest of the crew, we have built confidence in our dancing. We started from not knowing what to do as a couple at parties and social events to being able to select from multiple, diverse styles -- that in itself is worth the money. The instructors are all patient, knowledgeable, experienced, and will guide you every step of the way. Don't hesitate in starting your dance journey or continuing it here; it's a lot of fun. read more

My fiancé and I bought the Groupon for six private lessons. Our hope was to brush up on our skills and to get help with figuring out our first dance. Catherine, our instructor, was friendly and patient with us as we reviewed basic dance steps at our first lesson. The lessons are only 20-30 minutes, but they give you enough to learn and then practice at home on your own. On our second visit we started working on elements of our first dance. My fiancé and I both feel like we have learned so much in a very short period of time. We also recently participated in one of their group dance classes which was so much fun! You really learn a lot in a short period of time and then are given the time to practice with a mini dance party. I would definitely recommend Dance Masters! We have loved every minute of it! read more

You go to a dance studio not to simply learn some steps but to find your 'one thing'; to find your inner-Fred Astaire - but also have fun along the way. Rock, Katherine and Al cultivate just that environment, allowing my girlfriend to channel her Baby to my Swayze - not that dirty dancing is on the cards! They teach a vast array of styles; from box-step, waltz, east/west coast swing, foxtrot all the way to hustle and line dancing. We've been going for about 2+ months and have not even scratched the surface of what can be learned, which keeps my feet agitating to discover the next style read more

My fiancé signed us up for 6x 30 minute dance lessons at Dance Masters! We have learned so much in the first few classes and we look forward to taking more group classes after the wedding! We never thought dance classes would be so much fun and we love having a private instructor and room to let loose! read more

My fiance (now wife) and I learned a custom first dance for our wedding, all through a 6-session Groupon! Amazing instructors who take the intimidation out of dancing and make it fun! read more

Solo Instruction: Catherine, Rock and team have been teaching dance lessons for years. They have series for each skill level of dancer. They love beginner dances. During each of the solo lesson series they get you comfortable with multiple types of dances - not just one. They cover all the timeless dances; including the East coast swing, West Coast swing, four count swing, rumba, merengue, waltz, foxtrot, cha-cha.... Group Instruction: Group lessons focus on one dance and are categorized by dance skill level. If you're paying for private lessons, then you automatically get group lessons and can go to the parties. Pricing: If you're not sure, you can start with the Groupon, which is an awesome deal. Their motto is to teach through three main components: private lessons, group lessons, social dance parties. Therefore, this is how they price. They host all of those events each week, and as long as you're paying for private lessons you can go to all of these as well. I won't say specifics but they give you a great experience for what you pay. The same package at Rigby's, Simply Ballroom, or other places in Richmond would teach you less, offer less instruction, or cost more. Great deal here. Clients: Pretty much anyone fits in here. There are lots of married couples. Their cohort of singles in their 20s and 30s is really growing. If you are young and want to learn to dance like me (23), the price and experience are worth it. I see a lot of to-be married couples practicing for weddings. They also have competitive ballroom dancers. The teachers themselves compete in ballroom competition as well. read more

My boyfriend and I are taking lessons as part of the Groupon special. It's amazing! The instructors are great. We have 6 lessons - 4 private, and 2 group. They are very good at getting your comfortable. And even though the private lessons are only 20-30 mins you learn a lot. You get all the basics needed for any of the classics. I'm extremely pleased with the experience thus far. read more

Love Dance Masters! I bought lessons for my fiancée through the Groupon deal, and we have enjoyed it so much we decided to continue. They are great for dancers of all skill levels. We've already improved a lot through the individual lessons and the beginners class and we can't wait to show off everything we've learned at our wedding! read more

Rock and Katherine are so wonderful and talented. They were so kind to us newbies and made it fun. We're looking forward to our next lesson!

Went for lessons purchased thu groupon, owners showed us couple of steps, then took us to back room to practice alone. On the last night we were there, male owner in a very nasty way said it was time to go. We were excited about learning Salsa, not anymore. read more

My fiance and I were gifted a Groupon deal for six private lessons. The studio also offers group lessons for beginners on Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings. All of the instructors are very pleasant and helpful, and each person has their own teaching style, which means they focus on different elements of each dance. We've had the privilege to work with several of the instructors, and each lesson teaches us something new. It's a great work out, and great couple's therapy! read more

Only had two lessons so far and we feel like naturals! We used a groupon and got an excellent deal! The 20-30 mins lessons are just enough! Rock is such a character and keeps us on our toes and laughing the whole time! I highly recommend them if you are looking for foundation and some fun! read more

Great place to learn how to dance! My husband and I wanted to learn to dance for a wedding we were going to. We signed up for private dance lessons which were perfect for us to learn the basic steps and build our confidence. The instructors are very patient. We appreciate how the lessons are short which let us focus on just enough without us being overwhelmed. We did the package of 8 private lessons. We learned so much and had such a fun time learning to dance as a couple that we plan to sign up for another package of private lessons! read more

My parents and I were extremely pleased with the instruction and atmosphere at Dance Masters. The instructors are friendly, personable and devoted to teaching each student at their particular comfort level. Beginning with 20-minute lessons, Rock taught us the basics of foxtrot, waltz and swing dancing. By the end of the fourth lesson, we were able to dance comfortably and experiment with several added steps. Although none of us were experienced in ballroom dancing, Dance Masters made learning a thoroughly enjoyable and non-stressful adventure! read more
