I had been wanting to take dance classes for a while. I ran into a fellow Yelper at one of the fitness Yelp events who convinced me I should try out Dance Lab. Tiffany's review is probably right under mine. She told me it increased her overall happiness levels. I decided this was for me. The very next Thursday evening, I found myself in the Hip Hop class. At the time, the hip hop class was called Feel Euphoric Hip Hop. It was the only class I could find on the schedule that said it was for strictly beginners. They level all their classes from F0 to F4 depending on how much experience dancing you need to take the class. I am at an F0 level. I have never danced before, besides occasionally in the bed room. In the hip hop class, the instructor, Naquan, walks us through warm up dance exercises followed by stretches. Then we start learning a combo. He goes real slow and makes sure everyone understands this step before moving on to the next step. Naquan is an excellent instructor. He makes dance class fun. Since that initial visit, I've since taken several more of the hip hop classes on Thursday nights. A few weeks ago, Dance Lab opened up a new dance room in their studio. When they did this, more F0 beginner classes opened up. I have also tried the ballet/Jazz technique class. I love that class too and I plan to continue to take it every Sunday. There is also a twerk class, Twerkaholics, which is held on Wednesday evenings. I will be attending that one soon. I look forward to learning how to twerk at Dance Lab! I can't say enough good things about the mad scientist's at the lab. I studied dance in college but then sadly got away from it. It's very hard to find a studio that offers adult classes, they may offer 1 or 2 but not at dance lab they have adult classes for all levels, focusing on hip hop, feel sexy, contemporary jazz, ballet, tap and more. Jenny has such a great vibe about her you immediately feel comfortable and ready for her to teach you how to get your sexy on. Feel the good hip class will leave you feelin good all week long. Can I actually say this place would almost make me consider moving to the low country? Ok that might be a bit of a stretch but seriously, how cool is this concept-teaching dance to any level and any age? We traveled to Charleston as part of a destination bachelorette. The bride, my sister, really wanted to incorporate a dance class or Zumba class on one of the days. I contacted Jenny about it and she could not have been more pleasant to work with. Due to the pretty eventful weekend that was planned, I had to change the time of our private class several times via email and each time Jenny was so gracious about it and was able and willing to accommodate the request. The class was reasonably priced as well for a private class. She listened to our song requests (Beyonce!) and when we got to the actual class greeted us with champagne and had an awesome and fun dance routine planned that was right up the girls' alley and perfect for a bachelorette. We had so much fun dancing with Jenny and she is just a really awesome person and has great positive energy. Even though some of us (like myself) have not danced in this way for years none of us were made to feel that way. At the end of our class Jenny took a little video for us and even gave a little souvenir shirt for the bride which was so sweet and made great keepsakes for the weekend. Charleston is lucky to have a place like this and I hope one of these days we will have a Dance Lab in TX! I tried dance lab through Classpass recently and had the best time! As a former dancer (middle-High school) it was a blast to get back in a studio as an adult. I also had my reservations about that but Dance Lab was the best place to get back on the horse. Naquan was such a great hip hop teacher and I felt welcomed the minute I walked in the door. Nothing pretentious about the studio. They are all about good vibes, fun, and giving your all. I will be back and recommend to all dancers in the area! read more

Jenny is an amazing person, dancer, and leader. All of the dance instructors at Dance Lab love what they do and love to teach others of all ages from little ones (I think they even have preschool) to older folks (I'm 43 and have had people from ages 18-70 y.o. in my tap class). This is my happy place!!! I have been dancing my whole life, and as I grew older it became more difficult to find classes for my age group that fit my schedule. When I lived in Hilton Head I was a 23 year old stuck in a teen jazz class with middle and high school students (yikes!)
