Never responsed to email about joining and taken dance lessons. They are probably out of business or will be shortly.

In the midst of COVID my family supported this studio…read more They were persistent about signing my girls up for dance when they were uncertain about their ability to survive this difficult time. Once the owner realized that she could survive COVID, she was no longer interested in teaching my daughter who has special needs. I was first heart broken about her dismal of my daughter from the studio. However, after speaking to multiple dance teachers and parents, I have become angry. She said that my daughter could not keep up. She should not be expected to keep up. You should have worked to include her. This was a blatant act of discrimination that no child with special needs should have to experience. My daughter is actually very talented and brave. She has danced in several studios and they made a way. She could have had a solo or solo parts within a dance routine. You could have provided a space for her to excel but it was too inconvenient for you. It only became inconvenient when you were no longer afraid of going under. I feel used and abused! So buyer beware. I would stay away if you want your child to be seen as an individual who has value no matter their ability.

There are always laughs and clapping coming from the classrooms. The kids all get along with each other and are extremely friendly. When you walk in, it's a very positive and happy environment. The owner of the studio makes you feel at home and works to find classes best suited for your child. Overall amazing experience and I highly recommend this studio to anyone looking for dance classes beginner-advanced.

Back to childhood. I…read morecame to Dance Stop at this location (now relocated to 4400 Roswell Road) and was under the tutelage of Mrs. Kathy (for beginners), Miss Amy (adv. beginners), and for a little bit, Miss Forsberg (pointe). I adore Mrs. Kathy; she is an incredible instructor and so good with all the kids. She is very kind and always encouraged students to perform at the utmost of their ability and it was understood that it is always a pleasure to have Miss Kathy's praise. Miss Amy, however, was a different story. She was always 15 minutes late, and came to class with her hair in a ponytail. She would then proceed to take another 5 minutes to put up her hair and yell at the kids whose hair didn't stay in place or wasn't in a tight bun. (I found out later that she brushed her teeth at the beginning of every class...and it took 15 minutes. Hm...?) We spent another 15-20 minutes stretching, doing lots of exercises from before and then -maybe- learning one new move. I didn't learn much after several months, and that was when I started to dislike ballet from the boredom of every class. (FYI Amy left a while back. Hmm, I wonder why?) I moved onto pointe, and I loved it under Miss Forsberg (we called her "Madame"), until my toes started bleeding and I had to stop dancing all together. They say that you have to go under all this training for muscle memory, and yes, it does take muscle memory to become a good ballerina, but I thought it excessive. The studio also offers jazz and modern under Ryan Hall. What do I think? I think you should take your money and time to Atlanta Ballet, not here. I've been to both and AB is far superior in formal training and seriousness.

Update: 21 Jan 2017 My daughter is still at Morningstar…read moreDance Academy. She loves it, even though it is still crowded. We are even considering putting her in after school care to learn chinese and ballet. She really likes the classes and the teachers. Morningstar has instituted some rules to address the overcrowding. I up'd the star rating by one star because my daughter loves these classes so much and the teachers are excellent. Now, I just drop by daughter off and do errands so that I don't have to be in a crowded environment and it seems to work well. ---old review There are many more ballet schools around Johns Creek that are better looking than Morningstar Dance Academy. However, the teachers are very good. If you are serious about ballet and don't care about the facility and look of the place, you may want to give Morningstar Dance Academy a try. This school seems to be outgrowing its current facility. I think the owner will need to expand soon or create more classes in order to keep the class size down. Right now, my biggest issue is that the classes are so crowded. The state of the facility would be my second biggest gripe. I wish I could watch my daughter's class, but there is no room and there is no window aside from the tiny one on the door. There is also no room for the parents to wait since the adjacent class rooms get filled with chinese language classes. My daughter attends this school with her friends, but I don't know how much longer I will keep her here mostly due to the overcrowding. Pros: Teachers are very good You will see results quickly and learn fast Teacher is strict Teachers speak english Morningstar also has a Chinese Language School Cons: Classes are crowded Facility is small and getting run down Teacher is strict Everyone else speaks chinese Morningstar's Chinese Language School is very rigorous even for native speakers

At first she didn't want to leave her previous school (but i wasn't happy with the lack of growth) so we spent several months trying different schools in the area, as transition is hard. After taking just one class at Morning Star, she said "mom that was the hardest class I've ever taken, I want him (Mr Chen) to train me". We have been there for a little over a year now, and I have seen so much development from her. What she loved is that she gets detailed instructions on what she needed to work on, exercise and stretches that would help develop, the under develop parts of her body, something she wasn't getting at any of the previous schools. She also loved the level of discipline, she felt that all the dancers took the craft seriously. I as a working mom love the flexibility of the school, Instructors allow students to come in and do additional work outside of class time. This along with training alongside girls above her level is something that has aided in my daughter's development. Although smaller than most "fancier" schools in the area and the school we came from, after spending time at just about all of them. I have to say, Morning Star has the best ballet training of all the schools in the area. I would recommend this school to any SERIOUS dancer, because it is intense.
