Instructor is not prepared for the lesson, just thinks what to dance in class. Whatever time says (30 minutes?), you need to warm up, stretching, and water break. So, it is not like going to the gym. The room is really narrow. Classmate changed weekly because no one stay. I was there about or over a year. Some weeks, there's no room to move. Instructor does not really care how you dance or suggest for better posts. You just have to catch up on your own. So, if you are looking for a workout option, it may be about almost 20 dance time. If you are looking for a dance skill improvement, nah. PDE kept my $20 and refused to give my money back. They stopped to reply to my text when I ask to get my over-paid money back. They said the money stays in the account. I went in one Friday. A lady at the table said, "I don't have cash." WHEN WE OPEN UP A BANK ACCOUNT, WE CLOSE THE ACCOUNT. WE GET OUR MONEY BACK. So this place is more special than a bank. They can keep my money and just refuse to give me back. What a developed country is this? I also told them that I wouldn't be able to take lessons anymore over 2 months ahead of time because I don't have time. That is a month more than what they want. (We need to tell them a month before quitting otherwise FEE FEE FEE FEE. What's a MONEY MONEY MONEY sucker.) Then later I remember I have paid more than I had to. I contacted them, and here I am. Nope, did not get it yet. I overpaid because they charge fee if we don't pay in time, so I paid more to prevent the stupid FEE. Now the greedy kept my hard-working money.

The cost for membership is now 2x what is used to be! It's over $100 per person , with no added benefits. The machines are old and the treadmills are largely not functional, especially when trying to connect Bluetooth. The best parts of this gym are the nice locker room facilities, pickleball courts, and the indoor/outdoor pool areas. Personal trainers are hit or miss and the cafe is super expensive. We have since left for a smaller, less expensive gym that doesn't have a pool, though with the $30/person it's perfect for our family. Also, many of the stock footage images do not reflect the actual location. Take a tour before you make a decision.

However, Akasha is the best. The classes are a great stress relief and awesome exercise. The instructors are all very willing to help people new to Yoga, like myself. If this is the last Yoga place that I attend, I will be happy. Aside from relocating, I see no need to go anywhere else. My only complaint is that the store next door (Reclaimed...a artsy used furniture store) blasts their music and hammers on things, so it is difficult to totally relax during meditation when the furniture store is open (fortunately only) on weekends. Akasha also does other fun events to raise money for community projects and causes... drum circles, movie nights, Zumba and Tai Chi. It is a righteous place.

But a friend of mine who belongs to Akasha bugged me to give it a try and offered to take me and my partner as guests on her membership. After the first class, we were hooked. My partner and I went back the very next day and signed up for monthly memberships and began going to classes several times a week. That was last Fall. There are several reasons I love Akasha Yoga. Aside from the warm and peaceful atmosphere, the instructors are all wonderful. Jennifer (the owner) is a fantastic instructor, has great energy, and a great sense of humor. In the months I was a member, I had the opportunity to take classes with all of the instructors at some point, and they are all fantastic in different ways, but they all strive to make everyone feel comfortable and welcome whether you are a complete beginner (like I was) or an experienced yogi. Akasha does a community class once a month on Saturdays that is free to all. Additionally, they raise money for various community causes each month and have different events and special classes planned throughout each month that add to the sense of community at Akasha. My partner and I recently had to move out of the area, and while Crystal Lake is a great suburb that we will miss, what makes us most sad about the move is that we can no longer take classes at Akasha. I would highly recommend this place for anyone interested in giving yoga a try, or for any yoga pros looking for a great place to practice.

Cardio tennis programs are fun too. The upstairs fitness areas have plenty of cardio options, and there is an indoor tracks around the exterior if you want to walk or run on the floor. There are several varieties of weight lifting machines and a large free weight area. Bonus space behind the free weights is open floor so ace and specialized machines for strength. There are always fitness trainers giving people a lesson or orientation so it's friendly to all levels of fitness. Saunas and pool are a bonus.
