The teacher Dieter Riesle told me that I could come for a trial class free of charge and added that "if you have had gymnastics, other dance forms, yoga or acrobatics prior, you may be able to work yourself into this level". As a 27-year-old former professional athlete who now does yoga and barre on the regular basis, it sounded as I would be able to do it. I came at 10am as the manager Hans-Jakob told me to, but it turned out the classes started at 10:30am. No problem! I waited. At 10:30am Dieter asked me how I was going to pay: cash or check. I said that he mentioned this first class being free so I didn't bring any cash/checks. He told me: oh, then you should SIT AND WATCH TODAY because "I don't want you to hurt yourself"!!! WHAT?!! So 5 seconds ago when you thought I was paying, you were not afraid that I would hurt myself?? The class consisted of older ladies, with one of them not even being able to walk straight anymore due to her old age! I told him that I took some ballet classes in Russia and I am an athlete in general. He did not care! He kept saying I would not be able to keep up with those older women. Wow, they must be retired from Bolshoi Ballet! I left the studio shocked and disgusted.

There's no strict dress code, which worked out well since none of us owned ballet attire -- we just wore regular workout clothes and socks, and it was perfectly fine. The instructor was wonderful. She started by asking who had never taken ballet before, then positioned the newer students between people with experience so it would be easier to follow along. I really appreciated that, as I have no dance background and definitely found myself lost more than once. Having people around me to follow made it much less intimidating. The class itself was energetic and fun. The instructor was patient, encouraging, and made sure to keep things approachable for beginners. I'm sure my form was atrocious and I messed up plenty of times, but nobody cared -- the atmosphere was supportive and welcoming, and everyone was just there to enjoy themselves and keep trying. The class had people of all different skill levels and abilities, and it felt very inclusive. Overall, this was a great introduction class, especially for someone nervous about trying something new. I never once felt self-conscious, and I genuinely had fun. I'd highly recommend this academy to anyone looking to take dance classes, whether you have experience or not. If I were interested in pursuing ballet, I would definitely come back.

Since I needed new battery sooner, went to MacInspires figuring the $10 premium was worth it but was told I would be charged $49 for battery. When called the following day to contest the price of the battery (should have been $39 not $49) and discuss that the sales person had misrepresented the price, I was told I could bring back to phone and have the old battery replaced. Have done hundreds of dollars of business over the years but no more!!!
