Danbury hospital's emergency room waiting area

On February 2, 2024. My 80 year old mom came by ambulance to the danbury hospital ED department . After a few minutes sitting with my mom , I was feeling a bit overwhelmed. Being that I've been to that hospital before, I knew they have a waiting room directly outside the ED Department . I told my mom's nurse, I'm just going to sitting in your waiting room and come back later. The pictures I've uploaded, so you could see, how the waiting room was at 12:30 am on a Friday night, surprisingly very empty. I proceeded to sit in the red chair. I placed my water canister on the round table beside me. I pulled out my phone. At the same time a hospital personnel stopped, and asked me "if I was a patient there.? " I said no. She then proceeded to ask me if I was waiting for someone.? I said yes my mom, she's in Bed 14., I just came out to clear my head. I thought that was the end. She CHOSE to escalate it further . She rudely said " Well you cannot be here". I was confused, so I asked her, why not? She stated this area we used to "triage the kids" . I said" you triage kids in waiting rooms ? " She said " we sometimes use this room so that the kids could sit" . Ok, then I proceeded to ask her. Do you have kids who need to sit here now ? She said " not now, but we might later" " OK, but this is a waiting room correct? " I Explained, is there a rule stating that somewhere , because the sign over there said waiting room. At this very same time another person approached " she said "I'm the nurse here" And she stated the reason why she's asking is that she doesn't know who you are? I then said "who do you think I am?" do you guys usually get people who come in off the streets,, get buzzed in by security, and to hang out in your waiting room in the ED department on a Friday night? That what's been happening here? Or Would you assume, that I'm here with a patient? I'm quietly sitting and the assumption is what really? I proceeded to tell them, your approach is really rude. Someone is sitting in a waiting room in the emergency department and your first reaction is to try to kick them out. You don't knowing their circumstance, or what they're going through at the moment", but this is the way you both feel is an appropriate behavior? I then told them both I am choosing not to engage any further. I proceeded to ask them for both their names so I can make a formal complaint . They both walked away from me. Then the first one threaten me by saying "you continue to sit there". I'm going to call the hospital police , they will make you leave . (The Weaponization of the police) . Thank God! The officer who responded was the first person I spoke with when I arrived. Three additional officers responded. Plus a charge nurse, stating. I wouldn't identify myself.. "They never asked me for any identification". He started when I refused to continue with the conversation, with the second person, that was me refusing to identify myself .. Wow! let's go with that spin, "I said "you're absolutely right" their behavior was absolutely my fault, by me deciding not to continue, with escalating the situation any further, by me sitting in an empty waiting room quietly, to gather my thoughts,. warranted the weaponization of Hospital police. So the plan was to get the Hospital police to drag me out of an empty waiting room.? to embarrass me correct that's what you guys do for the family members here? He said this is usually not the area that people wait because it's off the Pediatric department . And then I explained, I came to clear my head. I saw the plaque that said waiting room. I didn't see any additional rules and regulations listed here. (The Hospital police captain said he understood the situation) The hospital police were the only ones who said I understand . They perceived to tell me I can sit here for as long as I need. Very interesting , The charged nurse now double down by saying, because I didn't identify myself, that was why security was called . I explained to him it escalated, because I asked them both for their names. And if they ask me for identification, just like I presented it to the security before entering here, I would've been more than happy to do the same.

They did not have my proper meds in their computer system they had to manually change them. I lost 2 units of blood so I needed a transfusion . My blood pressure dropped to 70 over 55 and my heart went afib. I had to receive 2 catheters which I never had in my life. a 1 day procedure I was there 5 days. Since leaving I am still not up to date for my PT and I have had Migraine headaches, A Urinary track infection and just general fatigue from the whole process. I was told by 2 nurses who work there I should not have went there. I forgot to mention on the second day they had to take me down for a ct scan and while trying to swing me from the gurney on the sheet to the machine they smashed my leg off the machine and I saw stars. I asked for a night nurse pressing on the button for a half hour and finally was forced to urinate on myself at 61 years old before a nurse came. I would not send either of my dogs to that hospital for treatment, I would rather try and fix them myself. Do yourself a favor and never go to that hospital.

Being new parents they relied on the expertise of the lactation consultants at the hospital. I am a former postpartum nurse and when they came home home from the hospital they were using a breast pump and discarding the colostrum. Not only that they were given donor milk to feed their newborn. I called the lactation consultant and we spoke. Danbury Hospital has such an overmedicalized view of newborns, new moms and breastfeeding. This story was not an isolated incidence. I spoke with another family who was breastfeeding and their newborn went home with donor milk. This is a great way to sabotage the breastfeeding process. Good work Danbury Hospital, jeopardizing the health of newborns.

Security/welcoming committee at the door which sets one's mind at ease. Sanitize and mask up if you want. Masks right now are not mandatory, but most of the staff are wearing it. I'm grateful for that. The facility is clean, and each bed is sanitized between patients as I observed for two hours before my procedure. Staff at check-in are very pleasant and professional. They are following Covid protocol and there is glass between you and the intake when you arrive. Very smooth check-in process. THE AMBULATORY SURGERY: very clean Erika, Naomi, Josephine,Karen, and the OR nurses were really well suited for patient care. Efficient and pleasant, and they take the lead if you want to lighten up with a joke or two. A couple of people recognize me from my previous procedures and we're very encouraging knowing I was in a bit of discomfort. Got walked out to my car to make sure I was getting out safely. I'll be darned if she told me her name and it is slipping my mind, but she was very lovely. I'll be losing Dr.Rangavajjula the New Jersey St. Luke's system. If you are in need of a pain specialist, and you live in New Jersey or Pennsylvania, I encourage you to look him up. You will not find a finer medical professional. One more procedure to go, I hope, but this Care is appreciated.

My wife was complaining of nausea, and some dizziness and headaches. Her doctor recommended going to the hospital and getting a CAT Scan. She was not feeling too bad at the time. The next day the doctor said we should go to the hospital and get an MRI. That was on March 10, 2026. Since then she has gotten worse, with her back causing her the most pain. We both believe it was from the RACK she laid on for 5 days. What a horrible bed!!! They thought she might have had a stroke, but that was ruled out. They ran a number of tests, and a second MRI, but found no cause for her problems. They kept sticking her with needles to try and relieve her nausea with drugs, until her upper arms, and her abdomen where hideously black and blue. She looked like a pin cushion. We finally came home on March 14, 2026, and there has been no change. On St. Patty's day one of her doctors called to say a test came back positive for mononucleosis!!! She must have gotten it when she was in the hospital!!! She continues to have nausea and severe back pain. She cannot eat because of the nausea. Only some oatmeal and yogurt. Please save yourself aggravation and all kinds of pain by NOT going to this hospital!!! Dan McA.
