I had called a week in advance to book our appointments: a 75 minute body and foot massage for $70, a 75 minute prenatal massage for $70, and a 2hour body and foot massage for $110. When we arrived, the staff were very nice and friendly, which made a good first impression and gave me hope the visit would go smoothly. I shared a room with one of my sisters who was getting the prenatal massage, and while my bed was heated, it got so warm that I started sweating and had to ask them to turn it off. A male masseuse came in to work on me, which I personally didn't mind, but I do think they should ask clients their preference beforehand. As for the massage itself, it was just okay. I usually leave feeling completely relaxed, but this one didn't really do that for me. The techniques weren't great, and some of the small touches I've come to expect, like a head or scalp massage, never happened. When he moved to my legs and feet, he put on gloves, which honestly made it feel awkward and less soothing. There were a few moments where I felt more uncomfortable than relaxed, which kind of defeated the whole purpose. My sister's prenatal massage was another disappointment. About 20 minutes before her session was supposed to end, the masseuse told her she was finished and asked if she wanted to wait outside or stay in the room and rest. That meant she only received about 55 minutes of her 75 minute session, which felt really unfair considering we paid for the full time. The checkout process was the final straw. I was told there's a $1 per person fee for paying with a card, which already felt unnecessary. I was charged $233, and then the staff realized they rang it up incorrectly and charged my card again for an extra $20. The whole situation felt messy and unprofessional, especially after being told there was a specific card fee and then seeing extra charges added on anyway. Overall, I left more frustrated than refreshed and won't be returning.

I felt like my left shoulder and arm had been gnawed on by a Chupacabra. So I "YELPED" a local massage place to help me with my damaged flipper/wing/appendage. I happened upon this place that was hard to find in a business strip mall in Citrus Heights. There was a man and woman in the business and they were very pleasant. I told them about my Chupacabra attack and asked if he could rub my left arm for about 20 minutes. The fine gentlemen quoted me $20 which seemed a fair price to regain my super strength. At only 20 minutes the clock was ticking. He spent the first five minutes pressing my spine, neck and shoulders. I'm a big guy, 6'0" and about 275 and not too in touch with my "sensitive side"..... This always irritates me, when I come in and say," I only have a limited amount of time, can you please fix this spot" and they have to spend time either "centering your chakras," "fixing your chi", "opening your energy" or" realigning your wang-chung". Once during a massage at another place I even had a guy blow on the back of my calves for about 2 minutes. I whirled around and asked him "what in the wide wide world of sports is he doing?" He replied that he was using his "WHO BREATH which blows away the pain from the muscles...." I wanted to show him my left hook that puts pain into the muscles but I didn't... Any way back to my story... After two requests to rub just my arm, Mr. Massage Guy finally gets around to rubbing my bad flipper. He did an excellent job and I was finally starting to feel better and thinking, "finally a get a masseuse who isn't a nut job".. when I started to feel a sensation like someone was sucking on my arm, or trying to give me a hickey. I sat up and looked over and saw him applying what looked to be a upgraded alien salad shooter with some sort of modified "milking machine appendage" on the end. He said it was "cupping" to draw the blood to the surface but he didn't even give me a heads up first about the hickey machine. All of a sudden I started thinking, "oh no... it's late in the evening, I'm in a lonely strip mall, I'm the only one here and these people were starting to look like aliens. My mind started to whirl that maybe they were aliens and they used this machine to suck the life out of their human subjects before throwing my bones in a pile in the back room. When I started watching him operate the milking machine he tried to put a Kleenex over my eyes. I still had enough strength to lift the Kleenex off my head and held my breath in case it had some alien type of Ether in it. At this point I just started to laugh inside and just enjoy the massage. Mr. Massage Guy was trying his best to do a good job and I was trying my best not to laugh out loud. I thought to myself that I now knew what nursing mothers felt like if they had six boobs hooked up all at once. I looked down at my arm and it had about 6 of these little hickey cups on it. I took a photo (which I posted above) because I knew I had to save other "YELPERS" who might suffer the same fate as me and hopefully help the Police solve my pending disappearance. (all kidding aside, they should probably warn people before they do this because it left huge purple circles for days. Someone might have a wedding, sleeveless event or other body revealing function coming up.) Mr. Massage Guy gave me an extra five minutes just to be nice. I think he knew that I thought this was a little unusual... or shall I say "Alien" Overall I enjoyed the massage and enjoyed the journey outside of my comfort zone. And here is the recommendation. Lisa runs a single massage table in a small room basically the size of a closet (I've actually seen walk-in closets larger than the therapy room). But this is all the space she needs to provide one of the most excellent therapeutic massages that I've ever experienced. I believe her focus is shiatsu based techniques but can probably do other styles. But the difference that sets her apart is a dedication to her craft, her knowledge/experience with physiology and therapeutic techniques, and the genuine care she has for her patient's well being. Lisa really knows her stuff. She has a level of knowledge of physiology not generally common in most masseuses. And what I found particularly significant is that, through her therapy sessions, she advised me of concerns and suggested some stretches, which if not followed would result in specific mobility issues. While she was able to resolve some of the knots, etc, she noticed some subtle tightness and loss of flexibility that left untreated would eventually cause serious issues. I didn't heed her recommendations. I wasn't really experiencing the symptoms she predicted. Could a massage therapist really provide these types of prognosis'? I found, unfortunately, that Lisa certainly could. As a result, I've experienced the symptoms she predicted which affected my ability to run and even walk up and down stairs. Compensation in my gait led to lower back pain as well. With physical therapy and the stretches she advised, I'm on the path to hopefully a full recovery. But my experience has taught me that Lisa really knows her stuff. She's had the education, training and experience to detect and resolve a number of issues as well as predict outcomes. Should you expect similar results? Obviously not -- these experiences are probably case-by-case and patient dependent. But she has certainly earned her credibility with me. The services Lisa provides really go beyond relaxation and are really in the realm of therapy for me. I can't recommend her highly enough if you have issues that might be resolved through massage therapy. Again, she can be a little hard to find. Ommmm I really liked the products Heather used! Especially the glycolic cleanser. She also gave me a cool DIY natural (and affordable!) toner recipe that I'm looking forward to trying. :-D Interestingly, she doesn't use tools for extractions but rather wraps her fingers in cotton and gets them out that way. I actually really liked this technique as my pores were clear yet my face didn't look as if it had been attacked the next day (as it often does after having extractions done with tools that temporarily scar you). My skin looked so wonderful the day after my facial, I was VERY pleased. She also offers various types of massage that I'm looking forward to trying! I will be booking my next facial ASAP.
