Used to love Dan Murphys and should say not had this issue at any other store, but at this one, more than once, I am given information that is false and I believe it is because staff cannot be bothered. Seems fair that rather than being generic, I give 2 specific examples:
A few weeks ago, I called to double check they had plenty of something in stock before I came in (I didn't have access to the internet to be able to check and even pre-order). Was told there were cases. Drove there which is out of my way, got there and there were 2 bottles - not worth the trip.
When you pre-order for collection, Dan Murphys have this neat text message that lets you know when you order has been picked, put aside and ready for collection. It then suggests that you use a link in the message to let them know when you are on your way so that they can bring the order to the front. This has worked brilliantly at the store near where I used to live - here however a very different story....we were told it was ready, we used the link to let them know we would be there with 30+ minutes notice, we got there and not only was it not ready, it had not been picked AND, they had run out of 2 of the wines we had ordered and paid for upfront. No offer to deliver (not that delivery works for us). ended up having to get a refund as we weren't going to make a 2nd special trip.
Followed up with their manager on site and was told more training would be given to try and prevent this from reoccurring. Tried it once more after that, but again, even though we were told it was ready and we provided same notice of our imminent arrival the items still had to be picked off the shelves - at least this time all the items were available! It would seem there is no benefit in pre-ordering for collection, may as well pick the items off the shelves yourself, it will probably be quicker too. read more
