Mediocre PT. The "therapst" would gve me exercises to do then go over to his computer until I asked how long I should do them for. I got a lot of relief from the pre-exercise massage nut he usually skipped those. Jasmine (I think that's her name) at the front desk might be the most decent human being in the place. She listens well and does her best to accomodate. Damon Brown might be a good PT but I have not met a man more full of himself since high school. The carpeting is old and I don't think it can be cleaned any more. No guidance, no encouragement, drab environment. Thank heavens for the support staff. read more

I have been going to see Drew for a couple of months now for back pain. First off, Jasmine at the front desk is a treat. She is always making a pleasant effort to schedule me in at a day and time that works best for me, without having to wait weeks to see the doctor. The office has a casual setting that makes you feel at home and comfortable. The doctor I work with is extremely observation and is always referring back to our previous sessions to understand progress - which is important to me. I am writing this on behalf of my husband and myself. My husband has a very severe ACL and MCL injury. Our well known knee doctor/surgeon said he was not a good candidate for surgery, so I asked for recommendations from friends and associates. I got a glowing and fabulous review about Damon. When my husband started seeing him (only a short time ago) he was walking slowly with a walker. Damon got him using two canes and then one cane. My physician recommended physical therapy for some minor back pain. The PT he recommended did not accept my insurance so I sought out another on yelp. I found this office and decided to try them out. After confirming my insurance was in order I scheduled an appointment with Drew. The office is situated on the third floor and has good vibes with lovely views. The staff are friendly, and there is always a variety of chill music playing in the background - I can recall jazz, and alt rock playing during my visits. Drew is patient, knowledgeable, and intuitive. He provided guided stretches as well as resistance exercises to improve my overall hip mobility, and reduce the pain in my lower back. He asked thoughtful questions that helped me identify which areas felt painful, then recommended specific exercises to treat them with precision. I highly recommend this practice if you're looking for friendly and helpful physical therapists with a laid back beachy vibe. Parking was also a breeze. I never had an issue finding parking in the surrounding neighborhood - usually within a block or two. But be aware of the parking restrictions - I believe there is street cleaning on weds before noon. read more

I started going to Damon 7 years ago due to an injury that herniated two discs in my neck. All of my orthopedic appointments suggested surgery but I was not wanting to go that route. It's possible that Damon Brown is the best PT in town. But I wouldn't know because his ever-rude receptionist rescheduled me 3 times before our 1st meeting, suggested that I should wait 10 days because Damon experienced a cancelled flight one day & was generally very unaccommodating. This was after she unapologetically gave me incorrect information about my insurance billing/co-pay, called my insurance to verify that she was wrong & then didn't call me back! I assume from the bad attitude that they just don't want the business. Thankfully in 90210 we have more Physical Therapists than we do minimum wage receptionists, so I'll be juuuuust fine. read more

After going to 4 other Physical Therapy Facilities in LA my new doctor recommended Damon Brown and it was a world of difference. Miracle Worker indeed!!! I've had two separate injuries that I've gone to Damon for. The first was a shoulder injury I got from doing Capoeira in 2007. I went a few times and Damon had me working again in no time. I am currently seeing Damon for a carpal tunnel type problem in my hand and I cannot stress how great working with him. I have no doubt that Damon Brown can and has helped many with physical therapy. He knows his craft. But as for myself and a number of former patients who have gone elsewhere it is the same complaint. Minimal time directly spent between patient and therapist. How much one-on-one times does the therapist spend with you before sending you off to use a machine while he goes onto the next person??? More than 15 - 20 minutes should be expected. Many times when I went there were 3 or 4 patients being addressed at one time. All but one was on a machine - not with the therapist. Within his office is Sonja Chandler who spends close to an hour with each patient. In my opinion this is what should be expected. read more

I've been going here for physical therapy for several years and have been happy with the treatments.

My husband sees Damon for a shoulder injury due to a mcycle accident. I've never met him, but I have spoken with the office staff on several occasions, and they are so nice, polite, understanding of scheduling issues, and knowledgeable of insurance and processes. As for Damon, my husband loves him, his demeanor, his skills, and his techniques, more so than any other PT he's seen before. He will come see Damon for any PT issues he has in the future. He says he's very "real", and he loves that Damon gets into the PT with him. He doesn't just tell him what to do, he does it for/with him, even if it means climbing on top of him to stretch hubby out. Don't let the fun, laid-back atmosphere fool you -- these guys are super-talented, hardcore therapists who truly know their stuff. I've been to several physical therapists, but I wouldn't go anywhere else now that I've found Lucas & Damon. Unlike other well-known outfits I've used where one PT supervises half a dozen technicians, the actual PTs here do all the hands-on treatments and supervise the exercises personally. They do everything except for the office/billing stuff. Typical sessions consist of 1/2 hour hands-on treatment by Damon or Lucas, followed by 1/2 to 1 hour of supervised exercises on their equipment. Sessions start pretty much on time. They're very responsive to my specific limitations and requests. My therapist Lucas has an almost magical ability to hone in on the specific muscles and places that are causing me pain. He's also a wizard at trigger point therapy, and his work area has a front-row view of the action at the hummingbird feeders. read more

So you're looking for a physical therapist and you don't know which way to turn. Perhaps like myself, after your procedure, you were handed five pages of names of physical therapists, broken down by region. You flip through the pages and soon realize you're trying to put a face with the last name: Armenian, Persian, black, white, Asian, male, female???? Don't feel guilty-I did the same thing! It's a very personal, very touchy-feely, personality, good body odor, type of leap of faith you're about to take. You are basically putting your recovery in this person's hands. You're going to see this person 2-3 times a week for the next 8 weeks. You don't want to spend an hour with some stinky old fart, 3 times a week. Say all this to say...I got SO lucky! I don't know why I picked the name Damon Brown, but I did. And everyone in his office is fantastic...from the ladies at the front desk, to every therapist in his group...they are all wonderful, attentive, quite knowledgeable therapists. I tore my meniscus in my right knee. Although the surgeon is supposedly one of the top in the country, his bed side manner sucks! I don't need a whole lotta hand holding, but I do need a little explaining, sometimes. The people at Damon Brown Therapy explain everything. They show you how the meniscus can tear, how it heels, and the entire healing process. Of course all I really wanted to know is "How long before I can get back into my stilettos?!" So, if you're on the fence, you don't know which way to turn or who to entrust your healing process to, I'm telling you...go see Damon Brown! He is amazing and wonderful! On my last day of vacation in Paradise, Wailea, I fell hard onto a very hot sidewalk and found out at the ER of Maui General that I had fractured 2 bones of my humerus (no laughing matter). When i got back to the mainland i was referred to Damon Brown by a good friend who had been greatly helped with a major back injury. She swears that Damon saved her from having a limp the rest of her life! I'm not too keen on PT due to a bad experience many years ago but Damon quickly assuaged my fears.
