Two and a half years ago, I was considering dropping out of graduate school as my body began to fail--I was in constant pain, could not sleep at night, lost the ability to perform tasks of daily living like dry my hair, carry a cell phone or any light object more than a few minutes, do dishes, etc., and was losing the ability to do my work--using the computer for more than a few minutes sent shooting pains up my arms. My neck pain had become so severe that it felt as if someone was trying to pull my head off. Despite improved ergonomics, rest, and visits to dozens of doctors, physical therapists, neurologists, surgeons, chiropractors, and osteopaths--including some of the top physicians in the Boston area-- I continued to get progressively worse. Everything changed when I found Suparna Damany and got on the path to a full recovery. First, Suparna was able to give me an accurate diagnosis for my problems--even though many "RSI-expert" physicians could not figure out what was wrong with me. In addition to finally getting a proper diagnosis, Suparna developed a customized treatment plan that has restored my health and allowed me to go back to work full-time doing what I love. Suparna has over 20 years of experience treating severe chronic pain and RSI patients--those the rest of the medical community has given up on. She understands where your body is at, based on your specific symptoms and the way your body has compensated for the pain, and tailors her treatment plan to you--knowing when and how much exercise/weights to recommend, when and how frequently to do certain stretches or nerve glides, and how to build up the tolerance to go back to doing your work in a systematic manner. She has also developed innovative techniques that do not exist anywhere else. For example, one component of my treatment focused on retraining my sympathetic nervous system--since chronic pain can wreak havoc on a normally functioning nervous system and make it difficult to get back to pain-free. Through my time with her, I have befriended other patients and have watched with awe at how people even worse off than me have gone on to live pain-free lives, working full-time and doing what they love. In addition, she has passed these techniques on to Beth Ruhe, who extends Suparna's treatments and provides exceptionally compassionate and skilled care and provides patients with the understanding and emotional support needed to make a full recovery. Through Suparna's treatment, I went from not being able to use the computer to working full-time, from getting fatigued from doing exercises with no weights to regularly lifting weights at the gym (60lb lat. pull down, push-ups, etc.), and from losing hope about my ability to live a normal life to getting back to pursuing my life and career goals. In sum, I cannot recommend Suparna enough and owe her my life, career and future. read more

I am eternally grateful to the Damany Center for helping me. I had heard from several colleagues that Suparna was the only person who improved their musculoskeletal issues. I had even been given a copy of Suparna's book by a colleague. My thought was, I had been through PT before, and it hadn't helped. After doctors told me there was nothing they could do about my situation, I was trying to self-manage my symptoms. I was down-spiraling to the point where I couldn't hold a cup. Then, a third and final sign - Suparna was on a teleconference held by my company. I don't believe in miracle cures, but I was desperate and finally called the Damany Center. Suparna gave me a customized physical therapy regimen over Skype, and within the first 6 weeks, I felt much better than I had in ages. The relief improved my quality of life significantly. I was so encouraged and hopeful, and I kept progressing and looking forward to getting my routine updated with new challenges. After a couple of months, I was even able to start to gently exercise and strengthen with her fitness center downstairs. As challenges and setbacks have come up, her team has helped me to navigate and deal with them accordingly. The in-person, hands-on treatments were helpful in improving my posture, which has noticeably improved. I realize now that trying to self-manage was driving me into the ground. When you need a care team to help you through your chronic pain or muscular skeletal issues, please do not hesitate to call the Damany Center. I wish I had called them sooner. Whenever somebody confides in me that they, too, are managing a musculoskeletal disorder, I always refer them to Suparna and her team. Regardless of whether you live in the Lehigh Valley, they genuinely care about everybody they treat and can help! read more

About five years ago, I started to develop chronic pain in my hands, arms, shoulders, upper back, and feet. I am a busy professional, but the pain became pretty debilitating, and even caused me to consider an extreme step - taking a leave of absence from work. I visited a myriad of doctors, physical therapists, and other practitioners, but no one could even successfully diagnose me, let alone help me. I was in pain, unsure of what to do, and pretty depressed. While sitting in yet another chiropractor's waiting room in San Francisco, I happened to see Suparna's book. And I was desperate enough to call her - a therapist all the way across the country. I left her a message, and to my surprise she personally called me back within the hour. She helped me when it seemed as if no one else could. Both with her advice and her hands on treatments. I traveled to Allentown whenever I could - either as an appendage to a business trip, or as a destination. And I slowly but reliably got better. I am now 90% there, and with Suparna's help, putting the finishing touches on my recovery. And much more aware of how to stay healthy. So yes, it sounds a little bit ridiculous to say "I have to go to Allentown, Pennsylvania because I can't find anyone else who can help me", but you can hear that exact line from hundreds of people who have come to see Suparna, and who now feel better. She helped me tremendously when I thought I might be out of options, and I couldn't be more grateful. The fact that she is such a warm and interesting person, and now a personal friend, I consider a great bonus. If that sounds at all like your story, give her a call. read more

In this particular case five stars is just not enough. I had a serious repetitive strain injury in both arms caused by too much computer work. After a year of struggling with my injury and visiting various doctors including two of the best specialists in the US a friend of mine recommended me a book written by Suparna Damany "It's not carpal tunnel syndrome". After reading the book I contacted Suparna. She agreed to see me immediately. I get the most insightful diagnosis of my condition, and a clear plan of how to treat it. This never happened before as all other specialists gave me exercises to do and told me to "see whether that helps". Suparna knew exactly how to approach the problem and how to treat my condition. It wasn't easy: four months of massage and physical therapy, stretching and strengthening exercises, and a lot of commuting to Allentown. But it was well worth it: as a result I have my hands back! I can work full-time on computer again, and I have no problems with everyday activities. I would like to send a message to the people with arm or hand pain caused by RSI: you can recover from this, even if you don't believe it now. I experienced it on myself. Don't neglect it, stop the activity which caused your injury and get professional help. I can honestly say that my life would be very difficult now and probably I wouldn't be able to continue my career if it wasn't for Suparna and staff at the Damany Center for Chronic Pain and Holistic Well-being. read more

After working at a computer full-time for several years, I started to develop mild symptoms of chronic RSI, and thought it was normal until they started getting worse. It got to a point where I couldn't even work on the computer for a few hours and my shoulders and forearms would throb and ache consistently. I was fully convinced I would have to change careers until I ready Suparna's book "It's Not Carpal Tunnel Syndrome". Despite being 20 years old at this point and published before the rise of mainstream computer and internet culture, her book gave me a more accurate diagnosis and information about my condition than any doctor or physical therapist I went to locally could. I reached out to her after reading her book and have been working with her and her trainer Eric for five months now and have experienced a drastic reduction in symptoms. It is very clear that they are extremely experienced in the area of repetitive stress injuries and I've learned so much about my body and my condition through working with them. They are so kind, supportive, and incredibly encouraging. Best of all -- they have made me believe that I can have a future at a desk again. I am so happy to have them by my side on my journey towards pain management and recovery. Could not recommend them enough. read more

For many years, I had severe chronic pain in my hands, lower back, and knees. I consulted doctors, physical therapists, and alternative medicine practitioners, but nothing helped me. I lost almost all hope of recovering. When I finally contacted Suparna Damany and she said she could help me, I knew that I could trust her expertise - she has a reputation of healing the toughest cases of chronic pain and people from all over the country come to Allentown to be treated by her. Over the past few months, she has used intense massage therapy to restore health to my muscle tissue and given me a robust set of exercises to do throughout the day. These exercises have improved my flexibility, strength and endurance without increasing my pain. With each session, Suparna has carefully progressed my exercises and added new ones. She lets me know how my pain will change as I hit certain strength targets. This is very motivating. I can now get through the day with much less pain, and I'm continuing to see Suparna with the goal of becoming pain-free. To all of you reading this, stay hopeful! I definitely encourage you to visit Suparna. read more

Suparna and her team cured the repetitive strain injury I had been facing for over 10years (caused by computer use). I had tried dozens of physical therapists in many different countries but her approach is the only one which actually worked. If it was not for the Damany Center, I would still be struggling with this condition. I now work at a computer for over 12hrs each day with no problem. For anyone facing this condition, there is a solution to this, and this is the only clinic I have found in the world which has it. I used to travel 4 hours to and from new york on saturdays and sundays to see Suparna and her team, and it was well worth the travel. They were so flexible they would come in especially to treat me on saturdays and sundays. They also provided fantastic emotional support through the recovery process which really encouraged me to see it through to the end. I now live abroad, and have referred others to the Damany Center - they are also really great at providing consults online. I cannot speak more highly of the Damany Center, and would strongly refer anyone to this fantastic team. read more

I was suffering from chronic hip and leg pain when I first came to the Damany Center. It is anchored in osteoarthritis but was exacerbated by extreme muscle tightness and associated intense nerve pain down my entire leg. Suparna and her team have been absolutely wonderful, so patient and caring working with me to help me regain significant mobility and relief from constant chronic pain. They've taken time to educate me about my condition and progress along the way. I had previously worked with two other physical therapy clinics and seen two orthopedic doctors who treated me with injections with no significant results. The therapy at Damany Center involves intense deep tissue work to break up muscle adhesions and allows the tissue to heal. While progress has been understandable slow, Suparna and her staff have been incredibly supportive and encouraging and I've made great progress. I've gone from barely being able to walk a half a block without limping in pain to being able to take short hikes and walks with my dog. I'm optimistic about continued success without surgery or medications! read more

I know I won't ever fully be able to put into words my experience with Suparna, Beth, and Eric at the Damany Center. I read a quote once that said "the most extraordinary people don't have a career, they have a mission" and that pretty much sums them up. I never felt like I was walking into just another appointment. They really do care for you and their method focuses on treating the cause, not the symptoms. Trust me when I say you will have a hard time finding a physical therapy center like this out there. On days I would come in feeling not so hopeful thinking I would always live with constant pain, Beth and Suparna would assure me that I would get better. I had been to 2 physical therapy centers before this and both told me I would never return to how I was before the nerve damage. I wish there were more places like this around the world so more people could have access to high quality care. I can't thank them enough. read more

I have had Lupus for over 20 years but 10 years ago I started having pain like nothing I had ever had before. I tried ignoring it but it got so bad that I thought I actually had broken something. I went to my rheumatologist who examined me and said my muscles were a mess - myofascial pain syndrome and I had to go to physical therapy. I really didn't want to start PT but my doctor told me that she went to Suparna Damany for her own physical therapy. At that point my muscles were in such bad shape that I couldn't turn my head in either direction. Suparna not only got me moving without pain, she taught me easy exercises to heal and strengthen me. She also is very willing to interface with my various physicians to be sure everyone is working together for my health and well-being. She is also always willing to see me in the middle of a pain crisis. She genuinely cares. read more

When my doctor recommended that I be evaluated for physical therapy, I was very hesitant. I just wanted a quick fix through some kind of pill or surgery but when the doctor told me that she had herself been spared back surgery because she was treated by Suparna Damany, I agreed to try it. I have fibromyalgia and myofascial pain syndrome. My neck, shoulders, back, and legs take turns going into spasms. Suparna's can quickly ascertain what is wrong, get ti the root of the problem, release the muscle (or in some cases entrapped nerve) and calm the body. She does this while also encouraging your mind and spirit. She is approachable, friendly, knowledgeable and always available. read more

Supurna and Beth have helped me get over an almost career ending problem. I had Repetitive Strain Injury (in arms from typing) for almost 2 years and nothing helped! I read Supurna's book and realized how close her work was to me, so I scheduled an appointment. I met with her once a week for a couple months, then we moved it to twice a week for a couple more months. The road of recovery was VERY rocky, with many ups and downs, but Supurna's confidence really helped me get through it. I would say I am about 90% healed now, better than I could have imagined 8 months ago. If you are in a similar position as I was, look no further. Great people who love to get rid of you pain! read more

This clinic is unlike any other physical therapy clinic. Most PT clinics run a volume business where one physical therapist is supervising several clients at once. Suparna and Beth are different in that every appointment is one on one and you receive individualized care. This care is mostly comprised of manual therapy, which most other physical therapists do not/ cannot provide. If you are in chronic pain from frozen muscles, nerve impingement, or poor posture, among other issues, do not hesitate to seek help at the Damany Center. Over the years, I have sought help from various physical therapy centers for bad knees, shoulders, etc, and this place is hands down the best. read more

Suparna, Beth, and Eric are all knowledgeable, compassionate, and professional. After being misdiagnosed by a hand specialist, and then given ineffective advice from a physical therapist, the Damany center gave me a diagnosis that made sense and gave me a comprehensive treatment plan that offered immediate relief and has me well on the way to a full recovery. If you are having any of the issues described in Suparna's book, I highly recommend you contact the center for a remote consultation. My mother, a physician, was so impressed with my treatment, that she is now a Damany Center client for a non RSI/TOS related issue and is very pleased with the care she is receiving. read more

I'm super thankful for Suparna! Through a series of Skype consultations, Suparna really helped me understand my chronic RSI and that with patience and consistent effort, I would get those physical abilities back. I was able to improve my condition starting with a series of gentle exercises and a slow introduction back into using the computer. In addition to a mindset shift, which is key to breaking free from chronic pain, I was eventually able to use the computer for several hours a day and get back to work. I don't take my health for granted anymore and know to take plenty of breaks throughout the day and keep myself strong with regular exercise. read more

Suparna is amazing. I have had chronic pain from a couple of rare medical conditions for over 25 years and have had numerous massage therapists and other treatments. Within 15 minutes Suparna understood my pain and began hands on therapy. Two weeks later I was almost pain free for days at a time and have much greater mobility. When I had a flare up, she had me come in and she reduced the inflammation. She truly cares about patients and adjusts her treatment for each person. I now look forward to treatments and cannot recommend her highly enough. read more

I've been to all of the so-called physical therapy centers and none compare to the Damany center for chronic pain results. Other "healing" centers have told me they could do no more after 6 months. The therapists at Damany have significantly reduced my neck and back pain through a combination of targeted exercises and true hands on therapy in just a few visits. Most importantly, I no longer have to rely on opioids to manage my pain levels. Suparna and her staff are extremely knowledgeable and efficient in every aspect of health and wellness. read more

suparna was the only person who was able to help me with my condition. I was completely crippled for a year and struggled to peel a banana. After 5 weeks of massage therapy with her and beth I have my life back. Right now im typing this on a computer which was completely unthinkable a year ago. I was skeptical at first but I've got to tell you all these reviews are legit. I think there's way more value out of coming to the damany center in person as opposed to virtually. Because the real improvement started with the massage therapy. read more

Suparna Damany was the only person that managed to cure me of my RSI (Repetitive Strain Injury). I had been suffering with bilateral hand-arm-upper-body pain from intensive computer use for more than 8 years. I had seen over 40 practitioners locally to try to alleviate my symptoms. Ms. Damany is the only person I would ever recommend for those looking to resolve their chronic pain/MSD/RSI related symptoms. She is an expert in her field and I am incredibly grateful to have a pain-free life back thanks to her. read more
