Once upon a time there was a peaceful village known as Brentwood. The inhabitants of this quiet little villa lived happily under the ownership of a kindly, old billionaire. Life was good. But then one day there were whispers that the kindly old man who owned Brentwood Village was going to sell it to some strangers from out of town. "NO! It can't be!", thought the inhabitants of the peaceful little village.
But it was true. Some outsiders who lived far away had bought Brentwood Village. The people wondered, "Will they be nice owners, like the kindly old billionaire who treated us so well?"
They waited with baited breath. Only time would tell. And it didn't take time very long to let them know.
The first new on site manager was never on site. Nobody could find him, nobody could contact him. The office was always locked and empty and he never answered phone calls; sometimes rent checks left in the office mail box turned up missing, people were being charged late fees even after they deposited their rent, paperwork was missing, and the entire place seemed to be in chaos. What were the good people of Brentwood Village to do? Finally, as if in answer to prayer (and I'm sure that was indeed the case), the new manager moved on, hopefully to Antarctica or somewhere far away where he could never manage apartments again, and there was a second manager who took his place.
The good people of Brentwood Village wondered again: Would she be nice and competent? By this time their nerves were set on edge. Well, they didn't have long to wait to find out. This new manager rampaged through the place like a vengeful banshee, frightening the formerly peaceful residents of the village, demanding paperwork from years earlier when they had first moved in, bullying and intimidating the poor tenants and nobody was safe from her wrath!
But thankfully, there was one good woman with the courage (and the paperwork; she had saved every scrap of paper and documented every contract and payment since she had moved into the village) who stood up to this wraith, and by heaven, within a few days the wraith was gone. The people of Brentwood Village all breathed a collective sigh of relief.
Now, after the first two managers were gone, the assistant manager to the wraith who had been trained under her took her job. And would you believe it, she turned out to be an answer to prayer! She was always in the office, she was kind, and fair, and honest, and competent and the good people of Brentwood Village could go about their lives again just like it used to be with the old owner.
So, this story has a happy ending.
This is part of my review of Brentwood Village, owned by Dalton Management. My complete review of Brentwood Village is also on Yelp.
What follows is my review of Dalton Management.
Jeffrey M. Denson and Brad Denson are the President and Chief Financial Officers respectively of Dalton Management; an old, once highly respected business which the Densons bought in 1965; so unless they are related to the original Dalton family, they are DINO: Dalton in Name Only.
They have taken advantage of the very latest in 21st century technology to streamline the process of fixing you with the most affordable housing in your area. With Dalton Management, the price is always right.
Pay no heed to any of those other comments from disgruntled slackers with an ax to grind who accuse Dalton Management of running some of their properties into the ground. I say hooey to all of that baloney. And no one at the BBB gets a "little dividend" to raise Dalton Management's rating to an A+.
Gone are the days when Big Jim Elkins ran this town and Portland was awash in corruption.
Dalton Management is as clean as a whistle, and no District Attorney in Portland turning over old property records is going to change my mind.
Jeff and Brad Denson have only ONE set of books, not two or three. They don't overrate or underrate their property values or claim lower occupancy rates to cheat the IRS. They are a CLASS A Act honest company who generally tend to stay on the right side of the law.
Good luck, Dalton Management! We know that you tenaciously care for your tenants and we are in your corner and we stand WITH you!
Seriously, after reading some of the other comments, and they are sad, and they are tragic, and they are heart wrenching, after my limited research, it would appear that the Denson Brothers are nothing more than a pair of soulless, ruthless, predatory capitalists who serve their god, mammon in their "tenacious" quest for profit. Predatory capitalism, apart from justice, equity and a high set of morals, can be just as damaging to the human spirit as the darkest evils of atheistic communism.
Jesus is Lord. We were not put on this earth to profit off of the sufferings of those in less fortunate circumstances than our own, but to aid one another in need, to help those in want.
