I've been living at Urby for a little over a month now. The Design District is filled with fantastic restaurants (The Mexican, The Charles, Meddlesome Moth, Rodeo Goat, El Carlos Elegante) and things to do within walking distance. I'm super excited for the restaurant and bar to open at Urby in late July or beginning of August! Urby has had fun events and free fitness classes for residents since I have moved in. There are consistent pop-ups in the lobby with coffees, breakfast, drinks, and more. All of the staff, especially Tiff, Carly, and Natasha, are always extremely helpful and kind.
It's a very up and coming area, which is why the construction is not a huge issue, as it's everywhere in Dallas. The crime in Dallas is also another factor that is unavoidable, and the staff has taken extra security measures and precautions to help residents feel safer and reassured. Moving from Fort Worth, I actually expected the crime to be much worse in this area. The real issue is that the police department here won't respond to and/or resolve any crimes.
My dog is very sensitive to loud noises and has anxiety, but the construction doesn't seem to bother him at all while playing in the dog park or walking around the area. The Katy Trail and the Ice House are also within walking distance! It's a great place to take a walk with friends or dogs. The Katy Trail is being extended all the way to Urby and the Virgin Hotel, so there's a lot to look forward to in this area. read more
