If you're trying to get your registration done at this location make sure you give yourself time at least 30-45 minutes of a wait.

I had a surprisingly great experience at the DPS office overall. Most of the staff were friendly,…read moreprofessional, and genuinely helpful. The process moved smoother than I expected, and several employees went out of their way to answer questions and keep things organized. That said, I would strongly recommend avoiding the lady at the first booth if possible. My interaction there felt unnecessarily rude and dismissive, which stood out compared to the rest of the team. Thankfully, once I got past that initial step, the rest of the experience was much more positive. Overall, good customer service from most of the staff, but that first impression could definitely use some improvement.

We walked in and there was a lady assisting everyone with the electronic check in (convenience). We checked in and ticket printed (super easy). They have two waiting area with multiple screens displaying the numbers and all the booth had big numbers. Her appointment was at 9:40 and they advise to arrive 30 min which we did. They called us about 9:47-9:48 and got out about 10ish (10:07 I think). Everything went pretty smooth and the lady was really nice and efficient. Overall, yes considering it's new, but everything seems quick, efficient and smooth process.

I had an appointment and arrived on time. I was one of the first people there and stood in line…read morewith other appointment holders. Even though I had already filled out all forms at home and checked in online, I was told I had to fill everything out again once inside. Annoying, but fine. After that, I was told to sit down. That is when I noticed everyone else was being handed a paper number except me. The woman handing out numbers, the one with dark curly hair, completely skipped me like I did not exist. When I went up to her and calmly asked why I did not receive a number, she was immediately rude and dismissive. She acted irritated that I even spoke to her. She told me to go stand in another line for people filling out forms, even though I explained more than once that I had already completed everything online and my online check in number was 005. She did not listen at all. She talked over me and waved me off like I was a problem she did not want to deal with. Because of her attitude and refusal to do her job properly, I had to stand in yet another line for no reason. When I finally reached the appointment check in counter, I was told to sit down again and get a new number. By then, they were already calling numbers 10 and 12 while my online number was 005. At that point, I was angry and worried my appointment had been skipped because of her incompetence. I went back to the same curly-haired woman to ask why my number still was not being honored and why I was being sent in circles. Once again, she ignored me, showed no interest in helping, and treated me like I was invisible. Her behavior was cold, selective, and completely unprofessional. She had no issue being friendly and helpful to other people but chose to treat me with disrespect. The only reason this situation did not completely fall apart is because a kind Caucasian gentleman stepped in and actually listened. He treated me like a human being, reassured me, and made sure my number was accounted for. He was patient, calm, and genuinely helpful. He was the only bright spot in this entire experience, and I truly wish I could thank him in person. God bless that man. Even after the numbers jumped to 21 and people who arrived later were called before me, I was eventually seen. The woman who helped me at the counter was polite and efficient, which I appreciated. This location is extremely disorganized, but the biggest problem is the staff member with the dark curly hair. Her attitude and refusal to listen caused unnecessary stress and confusion, and she should not be in a public-facing role. One good employee saved the situation, but one bad employee almost ruined it entirely. Avoid this location if you can, or be prepared to stand your ground and advocate for yourself.

My appointment was scheduled for 1:20 p.m., and through pure operator error (completely my fault), I accidentally went to the wrong location. I had went to the Texas department of transportation. Then I drove to McKinney location only to realize my appointment wasn't there either it was in Plano, about 30 minutes away. Talk about panic mode! I had been waiting for this appointment since last August and thought I had completely blown it. By the time I arrived in Plano, I was late, stressed, desperately needed a restroom, and was convinced I'd be marked as a no-show. That's when I met Ms. Mona. She greeted me with kindness, directed me to the kiosk, and when my ticket showed "No Show," she didn't just send me away. She calmly suggested I speak with the representative at the window because they might still be able to work me in, even though they were very busy. That little bit of encouragement gave me hope. Then I met Ms. Esther, and she was nothing short of an angel. Everything that could go wrong seemed to go wrong. My utility bill had the wrong address, so I had to email new proof of residency. I realized my vehicle registration was still in my car, so I had to run back outside to get it. Then I needed my veteran's proof of service...another trip to the car. I was definitely getting my steps in that afternoon! To top it all off, I accidentally emailed my documents to the wrong email address because I forgot part of the address and even misspelled "department." I was rushing, overwhelmed, and honestly on the verge of a panic attack. Through every bit of it, Ms. Esther never once acted frustrated. No eye rolls. No impatience. No attitude. She was patient, professional, encouraging, and genuinely kind. She gave me until 2:40 p.m. to get everything submitted, and thanks to her grace, I finally got checked in at 2:49 p.m. My number was called at 3:28 p.m., and I walked out with my new Texas driver's license at 4:09 p.m. Looking back, every single problem that day was my own doing. Had I slowed down, double-checked the address, and organized my paperwork before leaving home, the appointment would have been smooth. But instead of making me feel worse, the staff treated me with compassion and respect. The facility itself was clean, with plenty of parking, clean restrooms, ample seating, and friendly employees throughout the building. Thank you, Ms. Mona, for giving me hope when I thought I'd lost my appointment. Thank you, Ms. Esther, for your patience, your professionalism, and your kindness. You probably don't realize it, but you saved me from a panic attack, a migraine, and a whole lot of tears that afternoon. Customer service like yours deserves to be recognized. Thank you for turning one of the most stressful days into one I'll actually remember with gratitude

When I got my notification, I learned they now operate on an appointment system. I made my appointment and the next available was one almost one month away. Today was my day... An appointment I was dreading could not have gone smoother. I checked in 30 minutes prior to my appointment (the maximum allowed). I didn't exactly clock how long it took me, but I was in and out and back on the road well before my scheduled appointment time and the person I worked with could not have been more pleasant!
