I was blown away by the quality of their local organic meat. The thickest T bone I ever had at an amazing price. This place deserves 10 stars. Fresh carpaccio for starters, grilled veggies, and a nice green salad to accompany a 4 lbs steak. The actual address is the following: Via Parco del Lauro 56 70044 Polignano a Mare BA Italy Somehow, they haven't updated their yelp account to reflect that. These guys deserve all the business. Best steak I ever had in Europe continent...no joke.

In Nordic countries we are used to massive butchers with lots of different meat. It is very rare…read morethat any butcher will sell less than 5-10 meats, but that is the case with Porta Grande - a mixed butcher and steakhouse. Do not think any odd steakhouse. Instead, what you will get is a classic Italian experience with meat grilled to perfection. I haven't tried their restaurant, but I can safely say that their butcher is amazing. This isn't any high tech butcher, but a classic Italian butcher selling different meat by weight. They sell some simple cuts of pig, beef, chicken and lamb - but also buffalo and wild boar. To very friendly prices - especially compared to what wild boar will cost in my home country of Denmark. If available, which is VERY rare - highly unlikely - these cuts will sell for an extreme price. Service here was very Italian. Not fast and we had to wait a bit for any to come. This is Italy and part of the charm. Going to butcher here is just a much more unique experience. You can very likely get meat cheaper around, but the quality here is outstanding. It really is. Remember that their prices are still extremely cheap compared to butchers in the Nordic countries, in the UK and so on. This review is only for the butcher, but they safely receive 5 beautiful stars. I haven't had such a good piece of beef for a long time. Actually this ranks as one of the best steak experiences ever. Meaty, tender and fatty. Just how a piece of beef should be. Just go here, take some amazing meat home to your trulli and grill. You'll be one very happy person.

Der Gastraum war etwas dunkel und hätte gemütlicher sein können: manche Tische bekamen eine Kerze, aber leider nicht alle.
Salat mit Scarmoza und Schinken. Mit viel Olivenöl war's ganz gut.

Now we're talking about a restaurant that opened up over 900 years ago and their menu and food is still ridiculously good! I guess their food had had to be good to stay open almost 1,000 years! The views from our balcony table were amazing. The characters serving us were entertaining and our lunch was 1,000 years old fantastic. We opened with a Tonno Salad (Tuna) that was great. I had their specialty of the house pasta which was - FUSILLI AL TEGAMINO with sausage and mozzarella, quick baked pasta with sausage ragù. After you eat a bowl of this, you absolutely know you're in Italy. The beauty of I'll Terrrazzino Ristorante is just how good it is and not being a tourist spot, and maintaining its integrity for 1,000 years! This was a once in a lifetime experience.

We were amazed at the quality of the dishes and the very reasonable portion sizes. Prices were also competitive ($10-13 euros each). Lots of shrimp and seafood. I was amazed my kid ate 90% of her adult portioned pasta after stuffing herself with all the olives she could put her hands on! For 'secondi' we had the fritto misto - octopus, shrimp, tuna and squid. The house white wine was fantastic! All together came down to $60 euro. Service is a bit slow but it's the Italian way. Oh, and since they only had room outside (we didn't have a reservation) they brought us blankets because it was a bit chilly. Win-win!
