I was very impressed with the customer service I received from the Chronicle Herald the other day…read more I called them to see if I could get my hands on a particular newspaper dated May 2009. I originally sent an email (found the email on their website). I emailed them to ask them if I could get one but after a week of hearing nothing, I decided to email them again. I explained in my email that this was my second request and that I wasn't even sure if I was reaching the correct department. The lady (name Rebecca) was so sweet and so sincerley sorry for not getting back to me. There must have been a glitch somewhere because she didn't get my original request. Needless to say she found me what I was looking for. When I went in there she had it ready with my name on it. She was incredibly nice and I felt as if she truly valued my business when I left.

Watch out y'all, The Chronicle Herald, the grand daddy of Halifax newspapers, has a new format;…read moresaddling up and taking a stand against extinction at the hands of digital media. They've jazzed up their font and created a modern new look, making the newspaper easier to peruse and more palatable to a 'one second attention span' public. The new format is conducive to discriminative reading, making it possible to simply pick out the stories of interest without having to ingest any other factoids. This type of format is created for a fast paced, no time to spare population, which has its downfalls as well. The font is larger and the stories seem slightly cropped, begging the question as to whether details are being lost in translation. Journalists are having to cater to a digitally accustomed crowd who have become used to simple clicking and scanning, opposed to taking the time to actually read anything in its entirety. Hey, I'm as guilty as the next reader - simply scanning most of the time, picking out the meaty details and leaving the rest behind. But I can't help but wonder, whether this is another nail in the coffin of the printed press. I quite enjoy The Chronicle Herald with all its talented writers, and the new look certainly facilitates a comfortable reading experience. I mean with the Metro as the alternative, I pray that The Chronicle Herald can keep things up and running for a long time to come. I just hope that this precarious step in the direction of modernization keeps this paper inching towards a larger readership instead of falling off the edge of relevancy, into a a blue bag of old news.

Eggs Films, we had the opportunity to go for an Open-Mic Casting Session. What an experience,…read morehaving never been in a recording studio before, this was special. Fist let me say, we were nervous. The staff offered us a drink (non alcoholic), and we relaxed (as much as we could) in this great room, the decor was so fun, vibrant colors on the walls, egg like shapes covering lights , just a great overall feel. Don the Radio Director was so nice, he just kept saying relax, have fun, it really was a fantastic experience. As you can tell, I do not have the experience of my fellow yelper Joshua, but I would say this company has everything you could possibly be looking for. I will say the parking is none. You will have to park at the Metro Parking down the street. Don was nice enough to give me a heads up on this before we went.

Want to be in a commercial? Need a commercial made for your business?…read more These are two out of many things Egg Films does for people in Halifax and from out of town as well. Egg Films has won numerous awards for innovative and original marketing. I have worked for them as an Actor for over thirty commercials in television, radio and the Internet. So I know first hand how professional they are and how committed they are to having a very strong product. I guess this then begs the question, am I biased or not. My answer would be a no simply because of one fact; I also work for their competitors. Admittedly they don't have many competitors and there are even less who can compete at their level of production. But I still go over to other studios and perform for their commercials whenever I get the call. They don't just look for actors for commercials however. They also do the production of commercials and animations as well. Whether it is print campaign's, television commercials or content made for the Internet, they do it and are the best at it in Atlantic Canada. There are more services than I am even aware of however, so give them a call if you need to know more. I can't say enough great things about Egg Films and how talented they are. Their staff are all creative people who are very friendly and fun to work with. They simply do it right and the awards they have won and undoubtedly will win in the future speak to this truth. So if you want to be in a commercial or need one developed, Egg Films is one of the best phone calls you could ever make.
