By far the worst accounting firm I've ever dealt with…read more My taxes were not even difficult - a few W2s from different states and some simple investments. My previous accountants from NYC had no problem with them and always finishes it on time and accurately, and they have a lot more clients than Ann Arbor CPA. However, with this firm, I gave them sufficient time and they still had to file an extension because they can't finish what usually should take only a couple hours to do, which is OK I guess, I'll live with it. However - they miscalculated my MI return (by a good few hundred $) and in the end the good state of MI gave me back the money they miscalculated. On top of that - they didn't know how to handle any out of state taxes (particularly NY state tax rules), which I thought as professionals they should know or be able to research, and told me that my W2 was WRONG (which it isn't - I've confirmed with other professionals and my own HR department). I had to google answers FOR them when they could have just.... do a little freakin' research and figured it out themselves. Come on guys, I did not pay you to give YOU the answers. Needless to say, after the massive delays, miscalculations, and just straight up not knowing how to do simple taxes, I'm going to take my docs elsewhere in 2018.

I was trying to increase my life insurance policy or add an additional policy. She was responsive at first but then stopped responding to my emails. I sent her many emails without a response. When I tried to contact the previous person who used to own the company (I still did not know that he sold) she finally responded but was mostly upset that I tried to reach out to him again and "go over hear head". I most definitely was not, I just wanted to find out what was going on. I asked for clarification on what she sent in her previous email and again received no response. This was many days ago and I am still waiting to hear back. I never leave bad reviews but I have been very frustrated with the lack of communication. I don't feel that she values me as a customer at all.

I called and/or visited a number of other home loan lenders regarding pre-qualification, and BOAA was by far the best and most informative experience. I specifically met with Kim Clugston, whom is an absolute gem. She sat down with me and explained the whole process, explained a lot about home loan interest rates, 15 vs 30 year loans, and even broke down how home loans are calculated based off annual income and other factors (she wrote the equation down for me based on my numbers, and gave to me to take home so I could be more informed about my home buying decisions at my own pace). She even printed out full credit reports with scores and went over them with me, which I hadn't done at other places or even when I purchased a car in the past. BOAA, largely thanks to Kim, was the home lending office I felt most comfortable with, felt that the meeting was most about me being informed and making good decisions, and felt the least like they were trying to convince me to get a home loan for the sake of them getting another loan on the books. BOAA came highly recommended by a co-worker who recently received a home loan and he heaped high praise. After meeting with them, I can see why. If you're in the market for a home, I highly recommend setting up a meeting with BOAA and Kim Clugston, if she's available.
