A very stunning place to visit and you feel like you're at he heart of the woods. However a fixed parking fee of £8 seems a lot especially on a midweek rainy day and rubbish facilities for dogs is unforgivable. The Gruffalo hunt is a great idea, but the distance for young children is too much, over 2km and they're tired and lose interest, Gisburn do this much better with a short walk through actual woods not on a fire road. More shelter is needed outside for rainy days as dogs aren't not allowed inside, although we were told they can go on the balcony. The children's play area is good, and the kids loved the variety of toys. We did attempt one of the green walks but confusing signs meant we barely got started. A great place to enjoy a truly beautiful forest but it could be done so much better. read more
