After many calls, and questioning ,commander Brian Braha called me, and allowed me to visit my son in the hospital. After seeing that he was basically healthy,fear aleved, Brian and his cohorts helped the process along, and I was able to take him home, with a future court date scheduled. I am thankful for their assistance, and counseling . My son is going to seek alcohol treatment, and we hopefully will never have another incident like this again. relieved mom

However, the reason i give 5 stars is because I went to make a complaint about the video visit system and I got to talk to a CO who was the kindest CO I have met in any jail. He wasn't only kind he actually fixed the situation in which i was upset about. Thats unheard of with my experience. I think his name was shaun. last name maybe started with an h but i could be wrong my memory sux but he was a rank that was able to make the changes necessary to fix the issue at hand and give me hope that things can change for the better. Ya know, the best part of it was the fact that I ended up knowing some guys who I used to work with at Subway. I come in through the cell block and immediately eye on eye was established. Oh, the birds sung like the gypsies: twee twee tweedee dee dee doo DOO! That is not all. I mean, for having a bunch of felons, they were awfully nice. Like having a plethora of lawyers and counselors, I got legal advice from about 15 different inmates, all telling me the same thing while soothing my anxiety about the possibility of a becoming one of them. Whoever said felons don't have a soft side? You think this is all? Think not! I've got more: hell, there were cable tvs, your own shower, and get this--ping pong tables! Uh huh, yup, there is a GOD! Seriously, it was almost like a five-star luxury hotel, except.... uh oh, you ready for this? ...the food lowered the score to a three. Oh mighty mother of GOD: the food was awful! Terrible! Repugnant! After being locked up, hungry, cold, exhausted within a holding cell the size of your fist, all that was delivered to appease the pangs of stomach hunger was a cup size of milk, a rotting orange, and a MOCK REUBEN. Did you hear me? A MOCK REUBEN. I have no idea what the hell was in this slop of garbage, but it certainly wasn't the kind of Reuben Cecil makes. Nu-uh. Nozeree. In fact, I'm quite surprised I managed to classify the little bastard. I think...now, don't quote me, but there was ham, cheddar cheese, onion-kraut?--or something like sour kraut, and uh, butter (instead of thousand island dressing), all slammed together into a funny-looking, not pumpernickel, bread that was then pan fried to a burnt crisp...??! WTF? Now, I could have given this place a three all food items considered. But, I have to slap another star on--why you ask? Well, let me tell you: the shampoo brand they gave to us was named 'maximum security'! Who would have ever thought of a better shampoo brand to shove into the shower cell than that? It is as if they were inserting subliminal propaganda through advertising messages posted on the bottles they gave us, just to let us to know 'that we are watching you, son!' Genius, I say! Genius! In 2010, the JDC admitted more than 2,044 youths and had an average daily population of 40 residents. In addition to a safe and secure environment, a variety of educational programs and services are provided at the facility. Education classes are provided daily through a partnership with the Minneapolis Public Schools. Chaplains provide counseling and liaison services and conduct non-denominational worship services. A full-time medical team provides routine and emergency medical treatment. Hospitalization services are provided by the Hennepin County Medical Center. A variety of leisure and group exercise activities are available to residents. Psychological evaluation and testing are provided. Interns and volunteers provide youth and their families with ongoing support in the community that is necessary to remain law-abiding. We parked in a garage and were passing by to grab some lunch from a food truck and decided to stop…read morein here to check out their artifacts and the Father of Waters statue. This place doesn't disappoint with it's 5 story rotunda with stained glass windows, fossils that are a million years old, artifacts, history and architectural significance. You can tour the building via self guided tour with a brochure you can pick up inside or can print off/download from on-line prior to your visit. The also offer a guided tour once a month on the third Wednesday starting at noon in the rotunda area. I would have liked to have been able to take the tour to get a more in depth account from a local but, unfortunately I wasn't there when it was being offered. They have bell concerts however, they were not in operation when we were there due to a clock replacement project that was going on. Peregrine Falcons have a nesting site in the towers and there was plenty of art on exhibit as well as local educational exhibits that foster community engagement. There is a few souvenirs that can be purchased from the office in room 105 including a pin, pack of postcards, municipal building plates or a monument book that details the history of the building from the beginning until now.
