I've visited this salon on a number of occasions and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. You can general get walk in appointments, maybe except for Saturday afternoon which is very busy and it's also open quite late (7pm) so ideal for people like me who work during the week. I've tried a number of treatments and for me the best treatment is the eyebrow threading and dying, very affordable and done very well with much care. On the contrary I paid triple for a similar service in a 'posh' salon in Canary Wharf and the treatment was nowhere near as good. To mirror the previous poster's comment, although they mean well, the hairdressing isn't of a great standard and they don't seem to be up to speed with the modern techniques. I also didn't think much of the standard of manicure, but it is cheap, so if you fancy getting a hand on a quick tidy up then it's more than ok but don't expect the Earth! I had a Dermologica facial which was wonderful, however I asked if the lady could take me through some of the products but she ended up disappearing and didn't come back! I ended up spending £100 on products online when I got home, a missed opportunity for Dak Sheen! In summary, this is a cheap, cheerful and convenient salon which I enjoy visiting. read more

I visited Dak'Sheens as I had moved into a house nearby and was looking for a local salon to get my waxing done. I booked myself in for a brazilian wax...and boy do I regret it! The room was tiny and seemed unkept and unclean. The wax wasn't ready so I had to wait for it to be heated up. The ladies were kind and welcoming but unfortunately this didn't help the results. I've always had my legs and bikini area waxed and the pain no longer phases me. However, this was one of the most painful experiences of my life! There were tears in my eyes as the lady yanked and jerked at my skin - it seemed like she had no idea what she was doing. She kept apologising and telling me that my hair was very stubborn... I was left in a terrible state - patchy with torn skin and blood patches. I was made to pay full price and walked (hobbled) out shaking my head and vowing never to go back there again. This is the first review i have ever left online but thought I owe it to the ladies out there, hoping that no one else has to go through what I went through that day!! read more

I'm giving this salon 5 stars as it is good value and they can often fit you in with just a short wait. It is basic but they do good threading and their facials are great, in particular the facial for problem skin. It is not a place to go to if you are expecting to be pampered though. read more

I visited this salon for a Shellac manicure and was extremely disappointed by the level of service that I received. After having my Shellac removed I was told to wash my hands. However, they informed me that they did not have any soap so I would have to wash my hands with washing up liquid. I had to do this in a bathroom that was not clean at all. They had hardly any colours to choose from. When I finally selected a colour that I liked, I noticed that it was quite thick and gloopy. The lady painting my nails also commented on this several times but continued to apply several coats. She said that it might appear better after the final coat and I trusted her as an experienced nail technician. However when I took my hand out of the UV machine the final time the Shellac had gone extremely bumpy and uneven, with a texture of 'orange peel' as the lady said. So we then had to remove it and start the entire process again with a different colour. This was extremely annoying as it took a very long time and that was the only colour I liked out of a very limited selection. When the Shellac was finally finished I asked the lady who did my nails for a discount as it had taken so long. She asked another lady who was at the till who I presume was the manager. The manager then dealt with me very aggressively. She did not apologise for the delay, but said that it was not their fault that the nail polish was faulty, and that I should pay the full amount as they had lost money due to the fact that the lady was unable to perform a facial on her next client while she was finishing my nails. I explained that an experienced nail technician should be able to tell that the Shellac was faulty and therefore the delay was their fault and not mine. She became more and more irate, finally telling me that it was a 'bargain' to pay £20 so I should pay it regardless. She then stormed off. I was very shocked by the poor level of service I received during the Shellac procedure, and when I tried to discuss this with the manager. I went to this Saloon, as I had purchased a kgb deal for £20 for a haircut and a wax manicure. The WORST SERVICE I had experienced in my whole life!!! The hairdresser had no idea what she was doing, she didn't know what hair thinning out or what layers were and her basic hair cutting technique was the worst I had seen so far. Even a trainee would have done a better job. I had to have my hair cut once again in another saloon just to correct her mistakes. I was supposed to have a wax manicure but after seeing the manicurist give a client a hair dryer to dry her nails, I decided against it and left. It was a complete waste of my money, I would have been better off going to a trainee saloon!!! I would NEVER RECOMMEND this Saloon to anyone in the area. Avoid it at all cost!!! read more

Hello, I don't normally write reviews but I felt I needed to write this one. This star is for the lady (staff) that attended to me not for the saloon. I had facial (microdermabrasion), body silk (exfoliate and massage), pedicure and manicure with shellac. My eyebrows as well done on the 2nd of August 2015. First of all the massage room was very small, there was no space for the lady to manoeuvre whilst attending to me, she was stopping the massage almost in every movement to move things around, the room was not conducive even for her, she was sweating vigorously. I was meant to be relaxing while having the massage done instead, I was busy asking the her if she was ok, cos I didn't want her passing out on me. Anyways, When I read up on line about the body silk, it stated that after the exfoliation, the clint will have a "shower" NOPE! The lady had to use towel to wipe it off my body, imagine that!. Ok, proceeding from that section to the other, which is for the pedicure, OMG!!!! It looked abandoned, no life! Dust everywhere, things were stacked at the back of the pedicure chair, it was practically dirty. The worst of it all was when the lady was getting things ready for the pedicure, I was already sitting on the chair, when she turned on the water, there was this horrible stench! Like rotten sewage from the chair with all sorts of disgusting stuffs in the water, it was horrible. She had to drain the water, that took another time as the was water was not draining, she managed to drain the water, turned it on again, Lord have mercy! I almost vomited. She had to call another member of staff, i was told she's the oldest member of staff. She apologised, moved me to the second chair, just for me to put my feet in a flat out water, she instructed the lady attending to me not to touch anything if she did, we will go through the same horror again. The second lady offered me a cup of coffee which she made in the other section and carried all the way to me. I almost refused it because it wasn't covered. Maybe am being petty. The lady attending to me kept on apologising because of the whole situation. To add salt to injury, no foot soak! That was my first of time of having a pedicure with a flat out water. No foot soak, no bubbles which is asking for too much now as the two pedicure chairs are faulty, no proper equipment for the pedicure, I could only manage to use one foot scrub, the second one was weak and dirty. It was a horrific experience for the money I paid. Dak sheen is not clients friendly, for the fact that some clients might be spending 3-4hours there, one would expect the salon to have a little table were they can make their tea or coffee with clean cups/mugs. In short, enough said. Am sure you get the picture by now. I will not recommend or go back until a massive change has been done. The salon as a whole needs a face lift. I hope this helps. read more

I tried out this salon because it was close to home. I went in for a root touchup on my highlights. The staff were very friendly. However, the lady did not manage to match the colour of my golden highlights. Instead, i came out with some blonde, some gold and some silvery white. The highlights were patchy and inconsistent. i called the salon to let them know and asked if a golden toner could be put on my hair to bring back the golden tones. I went in and had this done a couple of days later, only to be charged for the service, when it was fixing their mistake. Because I had to have two chemical treatments, my hair has been left VERY dry, and still not the golden colour it used to be. They added a brown toner, which is nice, but it is already fading in the sunlight and my hair is going back to that silvery grey colour. Needless to say, I wont be going there again. Also the price on the website was not the end price. The actual prices are higher than on the website. read more
