I'll most likely be back here because I can walk to it but it is just okay. It hits the spot but it's a pretty standard ice cream shop/stand thing! The dip is very thin and there's always a lot of holes that create a messy melty situation so definitely ask for a bowl if you get a dipped cone! All I can say is - Ick. First time here and was thinking an ice cream would be good on a hot night. I ordered a basic small waffle cone, ($3.15), with a birthday cake dip ($1). My bf got a medium turtle flurry ($7.50). I guess something was wrong with their refrigeration because as soon as I tried to take a bite of my cone the dip was a soggy mess - not hard like it should have been - and the ice cream just started dripping immediately. And - the vanilla ice cream just wasn't flavorful or rich - no vanilla flavor. I tried to eat my cone but the ice cream was pouring down the sides, the dip fell off and I gave up and threw it away. Not a return for me. I mention the prices because when it was rung up the price came to $13.80, not the $12.35 (with taxes) it should have been. What happened? Not the happy summer ice cream experience I was looking for. lol read more

I'm only here for the rotating flavors of dole whip as my usual ice cream spot has been letting me down with the broken soft serve machines lately. I like dole whip as it doesn't feel so heavy as ice cream sometimes does. I appreciate that they rotate flavors so that there's usually something new to try. I LOVE this place!!! It's quite unusual these days to find a real peanut butter malt! (Chock full of real peanut butter and malt until too stiff for the straw!) And they make a lovely little doggie dish as well so bring your pup. (Water bowls out front too) They've got everything - all the modern, kid friendly novelties, but I come for the old fashioned sundaes and malts. I bought a malt for the Dairy O . It was warm and running . I never had a malt not cold . I came to complaint to ..and they were like old well . It's always been great. I ask to speak to the owner and they said that MIA which I thought was crazy made me pay for a small chocolate with nuts . Let say not customers service at all . Wish them all the luck . It has my favorite ice cream flavor but it couldve been sweeter the strawberry they are so messy! overall its AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!

I couldn't decide what I wanted so I got a little kiddie dirt cup. Ya know, the kind with the crushed Oreos and gummy worms. Well, the Oreos were generic brand and stale. :( some call me an Oreo snob but no generic sandwich cookie tastes remotely close to the real deal. Strike one. The picture on their window reminded me of my childhood with the little gummy worms but it was totally different when I received my order. The worms were cut in half and were the sour variety. I was all excited about the "24 flavors" I read about here, and they only have vanilla, chocolate, and twist flavors! What?! (was that for hard ice cream instead?) Ice cream was decent, anyway. It was a little too cold to sit outside today (Sept. 2) and the ice cream kept dripping everywhere, too. For 2 soft-serves (1 small w/ a dip, 1 medium) it was like $4 which is pretty cheap, though, IMO. I'd return to Dairy-O again just because it's nearby. read more

Well, the summer of trying new ice cream parlors has sadly come to an end. Lucky for the family & I we got a chance to hit a Clawson favorite for multiple visits & some delicious ice cold treats at Dairy-O. This was one of the highlights from all the new new ice cream parlors we tried this summer. I really enjoyed the Turtle Sunday. A simple serving of a rich & creamy vanilla soft serve ice cream laced with just the right amount of hot fudge & warm caramel, topped with some of the best candied pecans ever! If I close my eyes I can still feel the warm breeze as I mix the hot fudge and caramel with my spoon making sure to get one of those candied pecans in every bite. I'm no fortune teller but I predict my taste buds craving a trip here early next spring. read more

29 flavors of soft serve? Yes please. This is my kind of place; a Mom and Pop shop with small town charm. There is no indoor seating, but the seating they do have outside is roomy and well kept. The ice cream is delicious. Apart from the heavenly assortment of soft serve flavors, they have several specialty sundaes if you feel like splurging. Pretty much your classic seasonal soft-serve ice cream stand, complete with the cheesy wall murals and buzzy yellow florescent lights outside. Great variety and lots of outdoor seating (four umbrella tables and a long bench) so you can linger and eat your treats along Clawson's quaint Main Street. Last time we were there, I wondered about seeing so many folks there with their dogs until I noticed that the menu included something called a Doggie Dish--a small dish of soft-serve garnished with two dog biscuits that everyone seemed to be ordering for their four-legged friends.
