Talk about an authentic Italian experience. I'm so glad that we stopped here en route to Taormina. The restaurant is run by a husband and wife and on our visit at the end of the peak season, we had the distinct pleasure of having Angelina cook for us while her husband served. There can be nothing better than having an Italian Momma like Angelina cooking for a crew of hungry folks. In Italy, there isn't such a thing as a light lunch and Angelina delivered quite a feast!
First, she served us these delicious little mussels that were smothered in cheese and breading before being baked (I've never had them served like this before and I must find them again) alongside an amazing caponata featuring eggplant, onion, peppers and more.
Second, she served us this brilliant combo plate of seafood risotto (little shrimps, mussels, etc.) on one side and a beautiful eggplant bolognese on the other.
Then, (I know, I know - it kept going) she served us this amazing butterflied swordfish grilled with olive oil and lemon. I mean, COME ON ANGELINA - you are killing me!
There wasn't any part of this meal that could be faulted. You could feel the love pouring out of the kitchen.
I hope others will stop in here and enjoy this amazingly authentic spot - it's so well worth it. read more
