I recently purchased a DeWalt leaf blower from the mower shop and WOW! What an experience! The customer service was top notch. I unboxed this beast on my wifes coffee table and it was extremely easy to assemble. I had it together in no time and inserted the battery assuming it would need a charge to work but when i pulled the trigger I could immediately feel the recoil from this thing! Unfortunately so did my poor little dogs. One let out a whimper as he blew down the hall and was struggling to get a grip on the laminate. The other 2 ran for the front door but I immediately turned to see what was happening and the long haired one was directly in the line of sight of the wind coming from that thing. That wind was so strong there's no way it could be measured on the Beaufort scale. As soon as I gathered my bearings and released the trigger I noticed a tornado of dog hair whirling down the hallway and it touchdown just before reaching the back bedroom. This thing is EPIC! I ordered a console after seeing the one I wanted in the showroom. What was delivered was not what I ordered in the first place. Although they stated that they would exchange it, the second delivery was the same as the first. It was just like the first one which was NOT THE COLOR I expected. Talking with the salesman about this was a lost. He told me that I was 'stuck with it' and that the store was not going to change their mind. I see nothing acceptable about this and do not see why I have to be 'suck with' an item which does not meet my expectations nor can be used for the purpose intended. WHAT HAPPENED TO D. T. McCALL'S???? When I first moved to Smith County ten years ago, McCall's was pleasant to do business with.........NOT ANY MORE! On Oct.19th, 2020, I purchased a very expensive lift chair because of my health issues. It was delivered the next day, and I chose to stay in another room because the delivery men were not wearing masks and gloves. Nor did they even try to maintain social distancing. The next day I noticed that they had damaged the wall and that the chair was tilted to the left, making the right side about 2-3 inches higher. I called the store and was referred to the delivery supervisor, who stated that he had no authority to make repairs. That would have to come from one of the McCalls. I immediately called back and the receptionist said that none of them were available. Little did I know then that the receptionist had lots of tricks up her sleeve. I called numerous times over the next month, and I was transferred to the wrong people, transferred to obviously empty desks, and hung up on. One day I got a different receptionist and she transferred my call to John McCall. When he did not answer, I left a detailed message and thanked him. He has not returned my call. Whenever I was referred to a salesman, I asked them to take a message for John or JJ McCall. NO ONE HAS EVER CALLED ME BACK! So now it is 81 days since I purchased the chair, which has a warranty; and I still have a damaged wall and a chair that clearly was not set up correctly. Zero stars. Where do I start. Had water damage due to washer issues (not DT's fault) and my wife bought the new washer at DT McCall in Franklin. We also ended up doing the carpet replacement with Carpet One which is part of the same family although but separate division, as I was told many times during the process. It is said that a family owned company which is under same family name and building but cannot seem to coordinate between delivery of appliances ( actually still waiting) and the carpet team, which again is own by a different family member (McCall's excuse 20 times in last 3 days. In all fairness carpet one did an overall great job. I would never and I encourage looking for appliances to anywhere but DT McCall. And oh, BTW, I share my concerns with Roy McCall and let's say it starts at the top. Very disappointing experience and again looking elsewhere for appliances. read more

My husband has insisted on doing business with DT McCalls since he went to school with one of the owners. It has not been a positive experience. Our appliances are delivered damaged and now my dryer, which is 6 months old, is broken and McCalls won't send a repair person until the 26th of this month not do they supply loaners. If we have someone else work on it, it voids our warranty. McCalls could care less. it's ridiculous to wait two weeks for a repairman. This last experience finally convinced my husband to never do business with them again, so that's a plus. we have always used Dt McCall our whole house is furnished with them but never will I do business again, we bought a mower that has 100 hours on it , still under warranty, but the thing won't run and the belt keeps coming off now I'm told that they only made this mower for 1 year and you can't get parts for it anymore, everytime they come to get the thing they charge us, it's not right! they need to replace us with a mower! read more

I am sorry to give a negative review as I shopped the DTMcCall Franklin store instead of purchasing appliances from a big box store. We bought a gas cooktop, refrigerator, and wall oven/microwave so a significant purchase. The refrigerator LED light panel went out in 11 months so had to be replaced but it was under warranty. We were assured that the replacement parts would fix any issue. The salesman at the store said to let him know if there were any other problems with the appliance. After 8 months of the replaced light panel, all the LED lights went out again in both the refrigerator and freezer. Called the service center to let them know that the replaced parts didn't last as long as the original and it took from middle of January to end of June to have service manager finally tell me that there was nothing they could do since I didn't purchase the extended warranty. So I spent over $7,000 on the purchase - have the original receipt - the refrigerator didn't last a year, they want me to spend over $600 to repair a refrigerator they sold me less than 2 years ago. I will no longer buy from them and do not recommend KitchenAid products. read more

This is a smaller, family-owned appliance store and not a HH Gregg or Sear's. They are honest, not too expensive, and don't make promises they cannot keep. The best example of their honesty involving something of mine was when my A/C quit working 2 years ago. I had Lee come out and tell me that the entire unit was dead and was quoted over 5K to replace it. I called DT McCall and talked with one of the McCall family. After I explained what the guy from Lee said, he told me that my A/C compressor could be fixed rather easily. Instead of paying 5K for a brand new unit, I paid $850 to have my old unit fixed. It's running fine 2 years later, and my summer electric bills have shrunk. read more

This is a terrible place to work. Working here you basically do all the work because the other person in your department just doesn't feel like it. There are too many chiefs and not enough Indians here. The office manager who was over me told me to do one thing and then a lady Who is in her own office, isn't over that department snatches stuff out of your hands and yells at you. She is very disrespectful and causes lots of people to quit. Management is related so the one under them never gets in-trouble because they don't want to cause problems out of the workplace. read more

We purchased a stove top from DT McCalls (Franklin location) a few weeks ago. The technician that came out to install was very nice, but the stove top did not fit. He took it back and ensured we would get credited. Well, it's been three weeks. We've called twice. No refund yet. The woman my husband spoke to on the phone last was incredibly rude. Acting as though getting us this refund was a burden to her. We plan to renovate our entire kitchen next year, and will not be making any purchases at DT McCalls as a result of this poor experience. My 84 yr old parents were treated so poorly! They have had similar experience to others on here. Went to Carthage to order sofa, two recliners and mattress. My mom wanted one recliner to match sofa. Was told it couldn't be ordered in fabric but manager over heard awful sales guy and said it could. She also wanted a new bed frame with no footboard and was again told there weren't any made that way. Another lie. She was too tired to argue by then. They ordered furniture and told it would arrive in 5 weeks. Several weeks past date no furniture. Called several times and no one would return calls. Finally got some grumpy girl who answers phone and obviously can't be bothered with customers who said she didn't know who to call. More phone calls and finally my parents made a trip back to store and grumpy girl checked and furniture in warehouse. No one had even called or tried to schedule a delivery. Finally got delivery scheduled and a partial order. One recliner still missing and not even the one with special fabric. Box springs for mattress was too high for my parents to get in and out of bed and parents asked to swap for low profile one. Delivery guy promised he would correct it. Again nothing happened and no one called or returned their calls. Grumpy chick even hung up on my mom! They drove back to store a THIRD time as that seems to be only way to get service and were promised new box springs. Nada! Still hasn't happened! What a rinky dink operation! Take your business to Sprintz if you want to be treated well. I just bought furniture at Sprintz. I received email conf of order, email when vendor got order and email when furniture received at Sprintz warehouse. Then my salesperson emailed me with delivery dates. I selected what worked and received email conf of date and delivery window. Driver text me when he was close. They set up everything but I had issue with one chair being incorrect. Drivers have iPads and took picture which he uploaded to customer service who called me and resolved the issue before driver ever left. Don't waste your time or money with McCalls. All hat no cattle! It's bad enough that regular customers are treated poorly but 10 times worse for older folks in poor health. No way should my parents have to drive 40 minutes 3x and still don't have their stuff! And whoever grumpy girl is - she should be FIRED! If not resolved next week I will be driving 2 hours and it won't be pretty! read more

Wow! Three years ago someone from my hometown in Scottsville, KY told me to visit DT MCCALLS to purchase appliances. An amazing older gentleman named Tom helped me and I returned home to tell all my friends to visit this store, but today I returned to purchase a microwave and had a very bad experience with a young lady who refused to open a box so I could look at the microwave before purchasing. This microwave model was not displayed, but one was in stock. She was extremely rude. I also inquired about the 5 year appliance sign on their website and was told I could not purchase it for a microwave. NO WHERE is this stated on the website. If there were a zero rating or a negative rating that is what I would give. We purchased a LG refrigerator on December 21, 2019. On delivery day we received a call from the store that the fridge had a dent in the door and asked if we would be interested in a discounted price on this fridge since it was the only one in stock. Told them no. They said they would deliver the appliance and order a new door to replace the damaged one. When the delivery arrived not only was the door damaged but the handle used to open the door was damaged. The delivery guy noted all of the damage on the delivery ticket along with the model and serial number and referenced that a door and handle would be ordered to replace the damaged one. After a month went by, we called the service department and was told the guy that handles that was out with the flu and they would have someone to call us. Waited another 2 weeks and we called back. The girl we spoke with said the service department handled that and no one was in and she would have someone to call back. Waited and no one called. After a week call back and was told parts were ordered but LG was slow to deliver them. Asked if they could expedite the order and they said there was nothing they could do. Asked to speak to someone else and said no one was there. Told them to come get the refrigerator and we wanted our money back. The woman said we could not get a refund because it was past 30 days of purchase and they would not do that. She gave us a 1 800 number to call LG ourselves. Called LG and they had the paperwork with our name on it where DT McCall had ordered the door and handle and it was shipped to them. Called DT McCall back and they said all they had was just the door. We contacted the person with LG and asked if they could come and replace the door themselves. They were happy to schedule the service with their own service department and apologized for DT McCall's poor customer service. The next day DT McCall called and said they received the door but not the handle and would come and install it. Told them absolutely NOT!!! Told them we would NEVER darken their doorway ever again!!! Want to start by saying, i love DTs. This was my 1st time shopping there but my parents have bee buying there since the 80's. i'm 37. so, at least 30 years. this last visit was a 5k purchase; refrigerator, oven, dish washer, washer & dryer combo, microwave & couch. Tim was the gentle whom helped. He was nice, kind & seemed to really helped us! day of delivery: the 2 gentle, again were great! the wrong microwave was brought and since it was an upgrade, for which we were reminded repeatedly, we shouldn't complain about that. even though it doesnt match color scheme but really not to big of a deal. then there is a small but noticible dent on the front panel of dish washer, again things happen & it is small. 3rd, washer & dryer wont be coming for another week, to the day. pushing my gas people back, not to mention the weeks pay to the contractors & so forth. yet again, cool. i understand in remodels things get pushed back or wrong items sent ect. 4th. the entire left side of the refrigerator was riddled in dents! so many that i was going to have to build a cassing, to hide the dents, costing more money. i go to DTs the following day, on jefferson st, cookeville. this time my father & i spoke to Ben, whom was unhelpful, not friendly, arrogant and so rude that my father just took a set, afraid of what he may say. Ben repeatedly asked me what i wanted & that it wasnt his fault & i needed to correct myself. i actually apologized & reiterated that i knew the he, nor Tim, noe the two delivery boys were responsible! then Ben took it upon himself to look up each item and tell us the retail cost. as if we should shut up because we has $40 taken off. (forgot to mention that) what Ben didnt know, is that dad & i had done our research and we could have bought all 6 items from 4 different stores and saved almost 1k. i let Ben know this. Dad finally spoke up & said the only reason we were here was he'd been doing business foe 30 plus years & thought getting everything at one place would be easier. Ben basically said he wasn't going to help & that Tim's days off were Sun, along w/every1 else & Tuesdays & for me to make ANOTHER trip up there. wasnt able to come the following day, wed but came on thur. Tim suggest getting a new refrigerator. i had no choice but to agree and wait another week for it. altogether, the two weeks of waiting has added additional 4k to my budget & Ben's attitiude will not be forgotten! i write reviews, all the time & never have wrote one like this. nor have my Father & i been treated so rudely before. especially after spending 5k+.Again, Tim was calm, and listened. while Ben seemed as if we were taking up his time & became aggressive in his tone and his stance. being an openly gay man, there was no need for his tone or aggressiveness & was trying to bow up on me, like in high school! when i did come in to talk to Tim, Been was there. i said hi & tried making pleasantries but was again meet with a hatefull, downward look and a unwilling reply! my father felt so insulted, that he would come back with me. i had to bring the carpenter!! i doubt we'll be back, especially if Ben is there! that really sucks, after 30+ years of good service & quailty! but these past 2weeks, dealing with DTs has not been easy, very confusing & almost feels as if we are being ripped off or at the very least played with! I like to support Local Businesses and thought even though this appliance was carried by Lowes, I would support a local small business. They arrived and disconnected my old refrigerator, put it on the driveway while unwrapping the new one. Then came to show us that instead of a Stainless with Black Trim which was ordered to match my other appliances, they were out of that model so the Owner of the company told them to substitute the Stainless with Light Grey trim. What really ticks me off the most about this is they didn't even have the decency to call me to let me know, they just sprung it on me at delivery where I had no choice but to have it hooked up or my food would spoil. Then where the freezer and refrigerator doors meet, the freezer door sticks out 1/2" higher than the fridge door. I was told it was the seal and that it should relax in a day or so, well try months, it's still noticeable and has not relaxed at all. Next time I'll shop big box stores where shockingly the customer service is far superior and the prices are equal. read more

My review concerns the Cub Cadet line of yard machines, which D T McCall also carries. Early summer of 2016, I knew I needed to get a lawn tractor. I live on a hill with a steep driveway and would need something powerful. After deciding to buy a Cub Cadet brand, I went to the Cub Cadet website and using their needs assessment, I found the best mower for me would be a XT2 model with a powerful motor. When I visited McCall's store in Carthage, I met Cindy (the main "man" in the Cub Cadet side of the business). The model I wanted needed to be special ordered. The yard tractor came in and it has been an awesome mower. Throughout the process of buying the mower, purchasing different accessories (which usually had to be special ordered) and having my machine serviced, Cindy and the rest of the the yard machine folks have always been very helpful and have made me a very satisfied customer!!! I recently purchased a mini split heat pump from DT McCalls, the entire purchase was handled online and by phone, it was a pleasant surprise when I spoke to A.J the man who helped me with my order, he knew the exact unit that I needed for the square footage that I provided and gave me an exact cost including installation. No high pressure sales pitch or upsell it was just like dealing with a friend. I also visited the store on a Saturday to explore financing options, this is when I meet Debby, she was great, very helpful and friendly, she suggested a plan that I had not thought of and it was the perfect option for my situation, she also took care of everything on a Saturday. I was given an install date and the morning the team was to arrive to preform the install I received a phone call from the office informing me that they were on their way, the team arrived on time. As far as the installation technicians you could not ask for two more professional, courteous and knowledgeable men than Chad and Jason. Every step of the install was explained to me, all my questions were answered and most importantly I felt very comfortable allowing them into my home. The entire experience from sales to installation was smooth and seamless, I did get several other bids before deciding to go with DT McCall, they were not the most expensive nor were they the cheapest. However they came across as the most customer service orintated. This is a great company to deal with, from the people that answer the phone to the field technicians they all seem to have the customers best interest at heart. read more

Let me start out by saying I have done business with DT Mcall before this last lack of customer service, and I was real pleased with the results. However this time not so much. In the newspaper they had a AC/Heat Pump on sale great price installed, bad part it was 115V, I asked if a 220V could be ordered and was given a price of $1000 higher for the 220V.. I had done some research and knew that the price difference was about $300. After a week of calls on my part and being told different stories about the quote being on his desk. I was told by another person at the store that he contacted the individual and was told the price was indeed a $1000 higher and he didn't think I wonted to pay that much, how would he know, he never call back with the price., I know ever Company needs to make money to stay in Business, but to mark up over 3 times the difference in the cost when the mark up of the unit was not that much to begin with. If you need something that they don't have in stock or you would like something special. Go somewhere else. read more
