My husband booked this hotel because of its convenient location, close to the River Walk and Alamo and most important, its in a very old and full of history building. We both really enjoyed our stay. The hotel was clean with the most comfortable beds and pillows and the very fun and convenient breakfasts and dinners/drinks. The beds and pillows were so comfy, we slept for almost 12 hours our first night... The foods, buffet style, were good, with many options. (They are comfort foods, if you expect high-end kind, it's not for you...) The customer services were what we appreciated and enjoyed the most. All of the staff, from the front desk hosts, to the managers, bartender (Annette), food service group... everyone was so friendly, nice, and welcoming. *The only "issue" that we experienced was the super loud, seemed like hours long, of car honkings, engines noice... of 1 night. But it wasn't the hotel's problem. The home team, The Spurs, won the game and the city was celebrating... Highly recommend this hotel and the services here... Thanks for showing us, the out-of-towners, the warm and hospitality of San Antonio/Texans that we heard so often before...

What set it apart wasn't simply the beautiful hotel or location -- it was the level of personal care. Ariel at the concierge desk was wonderful. She helped arrange safe airport transportation for my friend when she arrived before me and, when my flight was significantly delayed, made sure she could check in without me. Being stuck traveling and knowing she was in good hands was invaluable. We were welcomed with a personal note, fruit, flowers and champagne, and then surprised with more birthday treats during our spa day. Those thoughtful details made the entire stay feel special. And the SPA! Easily one of the best I've ever visited. Being able to truly relax before and after our treatments -- especially in the beautiful post-treatment lounge -- made it an experience rather than simply a massage appointment. Jessica gave me what was quite literally the best massage I've ever had (and I've had a lot of massages!). Even the little things stood out: complimentary morning coffee delivered through room service and an incredibly kind and helpful room-service attendant. Luxury hotels can have beautiful rooms and impressive amenities. What made Mokara exceptional was how genuinely cared for we felt from beginning to end. The personal touches made all the difference. Mokara will absolutely be at the top of my list the next time I'm in San Antonio. Five stars without hesitation.

During our trip to San Antonio this past July, we were looking for some new experiences when one of…read morethe bartenders at Esquire Tavern suggested we check out the Pearl District. He described it as an open-air area filled with shops, restaurants, hotels, and residences. Since it was only a few minutes from downtown and our hotel on the River Walk, we decided to spend an afternoon exploring it. When we arrived at the Pearl, we were dropped off outside Hotel Emma. It immediately caught our attention. The boutique hotel had a beautiful atmosphere with several inviting spaces for relaxing, so we decided to stop at the bar for a couple of drinks. The service was great, and the cold beers were especially refreshing on a warm San Antonio afternoon. The bar itself was a little chilly for us because of the air conditioning, so we took our drinks outside to the terrace. That turned out to be the perfect choice. Our table overlooked the common area of the Pearl, and a water feature next to us added to the relaxed and charming atmosphere. We spent about an hour there just enjoying our drinks and the surroundings. After closing our tab, we walked around the Pearl and browsed through some of the shops. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and found it to be a great place to simply wander around without having a particular agenda. It was exactly the kind of place to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon, which is precisely what we did. The Pearl was one of the pleasant surprises of our San Antonio trip and a place we might not have discovered without that recommendation from the bartender at Esquire Tavern. I would definitely recommend adding it to a San Antonio itinerary, particularly if you want to get away from the busier downtown and River Walk areas for a few hours. Next time we're in San Antonio, we will definitely return. We saw several interesting restaurants while walking around, so I think our next visit will probably be in the evening for dinner.

A Perfect Return to Where Our Forever Began My husband and I…read moregot married at Hotel Valencia one year ago, so getting to return this weekend to celebrate our first wedding anniversary was incredibly special. As part of our wedding package, they were incredibly generous and included two complimentary nights at the hotel and dinner at Dorrego's for us to celebrate. They are truly the absolute best at what they do and really know how to celebrate their guests! Returning to the very place where we said "I do" was already emotional enough, but Hotel Valencia somehow made the experience even more memorable than our first stay. From the moment we arrived, the staff was exactly as we remembered them: kind, attentive, professional, thoughtful, and genuinely wonderful. Our room was absolutely gorgeous, and when we walked in on our first day, we found the sweetest surprise waiting for us: a bottle of champagne, chocolate-covered strawberries, and a congratulations message written in chocolate on the plate. I actually teared up a little! It was such a thoughtful and adorable gesture that truly made us feel seen, celebrated, and cared for. There is something so special about Hotel Valencia. The environment is exceptional, the service is always outstanding, and even their gorgeous signature scent instantly brings us back to memories of love, celebration, and adventure. Every little detail feels intentional and memorable. I am so incredibly thankful that we chose Hotel Valencia as the place to celebrate both our wedding and our first anniversary. It will forever hold such a special place in our hearts, and we cannot wait to return again and make even more memories there. Thank you, Hotel Valencia, for helping make two of the most meaningful celebrations of our lives absolutely unforgettable!

A Wonderful Stay at Hotel Valencia!…read more We absolutely loved our stay at Hotel Valencia on the San Antonio River Walk! The location is perfect step out the front door and you're right in downtown San Antonio. From the hotel restaurant, you can take the stairs or elevator directly down to the River Walk, which makes getting around so easy and convenient. What we especially loved is that this hotel has so much character and charm. It doesn't feel like one of those cookie-cutter chain hotels. We had a balcony, although it was simply too hot during our visit to sit outside and enjoy it. I'm sure it would be wonderful on a cooler evening! The bar and restaurant were both excellent, and the entire staff was friendly and welcoming. A special shout-out to the valet guys they provided wonderful service and were always so helpful. Great location, beautiful atmosphere, delicious food and drinks, and exceptional service. We would definitely stay here again when we're back in San Antonio!

They were already overcrowded, and staff were also using them to transport large carts, making the situation even more frustrating for guests. There was also an extremely long wait each time we requested our vehicle from valet, especially during checkout. We also had an unpleasant experience with one of the female bartenders, who was blatantly rude to us for no apparent reason. She walked away from us in the middle of our order and appeared visibly irritated with nearly everyone she assisted. The room itself was nice, but we had another issue with housekeeping. When we checked in, we were asked if we wanted housekeeping during our two-night stay, and we specifically said no. Despite that, housekeeping entered my room while we were away, removed and lost my personal towels, replacing them with hotel towels! They also entered my son's room and threw away a pizza that was in a pizza box sitting on his desk. It was food he had eaten for lunch that day and had not intended to throw away. For the amount of money we paid to stay here, I expected a much higher level of service and professionalism. Unfortunately, the chaotic atmosphere, poor communication, and lack of respect for our privacy made this a disappointing stay. I do not recommend staying at this hotel.

Having stayed at Hyatt Regency Lost Pines near Bastrop for work meetings, I found the two properties very similar in style and layout. The outdoor area here seemed larger, with more pools, spaces, and activities, but overall the resorts offer a similar Texas Hill Country vibe. Pricing can vary dramatically depending on the weekend and local events, so it is worth checking carefully. I have seen rooms listed for around $1,000 per night, which feels excessive. Fortunately, my conference rate was a little over $200. I had planned to self-park, but when I arrived on Friday afternoon, valet was the only option available. It cost around $40. My room had two queen beds and was spacious, fresh, and very clean. I especially enjoyed the balcony view, the in-room coffee maker, and the spotless bathroom. Even the soap smelled great. Overall, I would stay here again, especially for a work event. It could also be a nice option for a quick staycation or local getaway. When I returned to my room to get my coffee the key did not work. the housekeeper cleaning the room across the hall opened the door for me.
