There were two rooms and I sat in the long one (the ceiling arc reminded me of a tunnel for some reason) with the duck mural. The menu contained lots of Polish dishes and a dedicated duck section. A duck and pickles appetizer was served gratis. It spread easily on the accompanying slices of bread and was nice. I've not had duck presented like this before and when I piled a couple of the smaller pickle pieces on top the tartness added more complexity for the flavors. I'd order this if it was on their menu. Zurek soup tasted a little tangy and was filled with sausage, mushroom, potatoes plus a whole egg and was delicious. I wasn't sure what to expect but all the different ingredients made for an enjoyable bowl. The bread bowl also contributed by thickening the soup as it abosrbed the broth. The duck breast with smoked plum sauce was thick, cooked medium and very tender. There was a little too much sauce for me but I liked the different taste. The side of glazed carrots and peas had a hint of sweetness and completed the dish along with the potato gnocchi. Service overall was good and efficient. Would return.

I would say Poland definitely is and has a world class soup culture, they take soups very seriously there. The mushroom soup I had was like no other I've ever had anywhere absolutely phenomenal!! Almost every restaurant we visited had 3 to 4 soups on the menu. Kuchnia u Doroty specializes in Soups, Schnitzels, Bigos, Roast Pork, Perogies, Pickled Herring and more. Service is excellent and the ambiance holds a wonderful cozy surprise especially when dining downstairs. By all means hit this place up, you won't be disappointed.

The staff are all very friendly and professional and have in depth knowledge of the menu. This was particularly helpful when trying to understand some of the menu that I was unfamiliar with. We ended up ordering one order of their meat pierogis and one order of their cheese and potato pierogis. They gave a portion of 10 pierogis and they were very filling. We also got their żurek and barszcz soups and all were super flavorful and light. Overall this place is a solid spot and I would come back.

Because we're light eaters we only had appetizers and drinks. I ordered an apple-mint nonalcoholic drink, which was delicious. We got the bacon-cheese wrapped plums and the "lard" (smalec). Neither was huge, but both were adequate-sized and most important they were delicious. It was maybe the best smalec we've had out of the dozens of times we've had it over many, many trips to Poland, served with great crusty bread and pickles. The plums were six toothpicks of bacon and plum poked into slices of apple and cheese, with side splashes of plum compote and what we decided was a horseradish and egg sauce. Absolutely yummy and the service was good. If we lived in the area, we'd definitely come back and try their other offerings. (And they had a good crowd of locals: always a good sign.)

He crafted the beams, the roof, and even the furniture that still furnish this tavern today. Thanks to his dedication and passion, I can now host you in a place filled with memories and warmth. This is not just an ordinary restaurant. It’s a home where every brick and every beam has a story to tell. You can even see the original serving window in the brick wall, reminding us of the old tavern that once operated here in the interwar period. I wanted you to feel at home here — to enjoy dishes prepared according to my family’s recipes. Here you can taste sour rye soup (żurek) made with a starter just like my grandmother taught me, homemade lard with pickled cucumbers from Charsznica, slow-cooked meats with potatoes baked in a bread oven, and pancakes and pudding exactly the way I remember them from my childhood. Every bite is a journey back in time, and every visit is a new story I want to share with you. If you’re looking for a place that combines flavor with history and a truly homely atmosphere, I’m sure Karczma Rogata will be a unique discovery for you. I warmly invite you — come and experience the true taste of history. — Krzysztof Hankus, Owner
