Cypress Swap Meet: Still a Favorite, but Changing Vibes Cypress Swap Meet will always have a special place in my heart, but it's undeniable that it's followed the trend of places like the Costa Mesa OCC swap meet, shifting toward a hyper-processed vibe. These days, it feels like a lot of the stalls are selling Amazon returns, pallet goods, and mass-market items. Don't get me wrong--I'm all for repurposing, and I respect the hustle, but it's starting to overshadow the classic swap meet experience. What makes a swap meet truly special, in my opinion, are the treasure hunters--the people who buy storage units or clear out old garages and bring unique vintage and antique items to sell. That's where the magic is. Finding one-of-a-kind items, cool vintage goods, and pieces with a story behind them is what keeps me coming back. Thankfully, there are still a handful of vendors here doing just that, and I deeply respect their dedication to the old-school swap meet vibe. Of course, you'll find the usual suspects here: vendors selling birdseed, leather goods, tools, and home fixtures. And for those just looking for a bargain on essentials like Tide detergent, light fixtures, or other practical items, this place delivers. It fits the general population's needs, and I get that. But at times, it feels like the market has become dominated by a "plastic world" of cheap, made-in-China goods, and that's not what I come to a swap meet for. For me, the essence of a swap meet is in finding the unexpected--a vintage video game, a cool piece of furniture, unique tools, or something that feels like a hidden gem. The vendors who focus on these items are what make this place worth visiting. To those still hustling and selling genuine flea market goods: you're the real MVPs, and I hope you keep doing what you do best. If you're into pallets of Amazon returns or bargain hunting for mass-produced goods, this might be your spot. And hey, if reselling pallets from San Pedro is putting food on the table for your family, I have nothing but respect for that. But for the community and the true swap meet spirit, I hope the classic flea market vibe can survive and thrive amidst the sea of plastic.

Swap meets are just it. Lots of vendors getting up really early to set up, shoppers strolling along, everyone surviving the heat together. The last swap meet I went to pre-COVID was the one in Santa Fe Springs, and it wasn't impressive. This one at Cypress College was not only impressive, it was so overwhelming! It's not just the first huge parking lot that they take over. There are two other sections in the back! [I think the other vendors in the back mostly sell used things like bike parts and tools.] There is no admission fee to get in, which I love! What's the point of paying for admission to buy discounted products!? (I'm looking at you, Pasadena!) There is parking in the college, but you might be better off parking at Big Lots. Don't park at Goodwill; they will supposedly tow your car if their security guard sees you. If it is your first time, know that a lot of vendors sell the same thing, so you don't have to buy everything immediately when you see it. I made the mistake of paying $1 more at a vendor closer to the entrance. Bring a hat or wear sunscreen. Bring water. There is very limited shade. A lot of vendors have tables with stuff priced at $1, but you have to dig around to see what those items are. I still don't know what they sell. I'd rather enjoy the ones where they have items set up so you can see what you are buying. Some items to expect here: clothes for all ages, shoes for all ages, toys/games/dolls, kitchenware, tools, phone cases, electronics/gadgets, watch repair, reflective outerwear, jewelry, athletic equipment/weights, household appliances, face masks for all ages, drugstore products and makeup, drugstore brand drugs (some were expired...), fresh produce, and flowers/plants! What I did not find was fishing gear. And after a few hours of walking in the sun and heat, I really wanted something to drink. I wish they spaced out food vendors around. I saw some BBQ and snack vendors, but I think they could have had more.

Got to say, this is without a doubt the most awesome swap meet I have ever seen. We used to have smaller versions of this in Washington but nothing as amazing as this. I could literally spend every weekend here if I was a local If you're looking for a day of fun and treasure hunting make sure you stop in. I have seriously never seen a selection this big. I love haggling for goods and can always find a good deal at a place like this.

Cypress Swap Meet is possibly one of the biggest swap meets in LA county with over 500+ vendors. [Hours]: Every Saturday and Sunday from 6 AM to 4 PM, but 20% of vendors typically begin to pack at 1:30 PM. [Parking]: Parking is free and you can pretty much park at any lots you see within Cypress College, but please note that swap meet is located near the intersection of Valley View St / Lakeshore Dr. I parked on Orange Ave side & had to walk additional 10 minutes & with no clear direction on how to get to the swap meet. [Amenities & vendors]: Free entry. Surprisingly I saw multiple fruit/vegetable booths (about 5%) as well as snack and slushy, aqua fresca, tacos, michelada, etc. In addition to food, you will also find miscellaneous vendors selling cosmetic, bikes, refrigerators, beds, gym equipment, brand new PS5 & console games, crystals, toys, hot wheels, anime figures, Pokémon modern sealed packs, guitar, Funko Pop. AstroTurf, etc. I took me approximately 90 minutes to zig-zag my ways and see 95% of vendors. Yes some vendors are repetitive, but overall Cypress Swap Meet is much bigger & better than some of those pay-to-enter swap meets. Bring hats and sunscreens because all vendors are set up in an open air parking lots with no shade.

Great neighborhood swap meet at the junior college. You can find both new and used stuff. There's a couple of good food vendors, but mainly Mexican food and it gets crowded quick so be prepared to park far and walk through the entire campus to get to the swap meet area. it's cool that there's no admission.

Ask the Community - Cypress Swap Meet

How much does it cost to rent a spot to sale items?

How much to rent a space ?

How much do they charge to get in?

There's no charge to get in and parking is free. It can get pretty crowded on a Sunday but such a great time.

Anyone know if there's a vendor(s) selling colored contacts for cosplay?

Is it all cash or can I buy goods w/a credit card?

They have atm on site, cash is king! But some vendors do accept Zelle/Venmo. YOU will probably get a better price if you pay with cash.

Does this swapmeet have restrooms for the customers to go to?

    Yes

Is the swap meet open today December 25th?

    Nope

I tried calling, but of course, they're closed. I did leave a message, but I want to plan accordingly, does anyone know if they'll be open this Sunday- 12/26? I appreciate…

    Nope

Is the swap meet currently open?

Yes, open on Saturdays and Sundays

Does anyone know if the cypress swap meet is currently open for business (I'm asking because of COVID)? I've tried to call but no luck.

You can check out their website www.cypresscollegeswapmeet.com.

Are there currently any turtles being sold?

    Nope!

    Are dogs allowed?

I saw lots of dogs, but they honestly looked miserable in the heat & on the hot pavement. I'd opt to leave mine at home unless it's a cooler, overcast day. 🐶

My students told me they have a Mexican Santa that gives out tacos, if true, that would be awesome?

    No free tacos

Would I be able to take my cats in a stroller?

There are signs that say No Animals Allowed but everyone has there dogs and cats on leashes and strollers

Whay ever happened to issac the man with the incense and oils?

Just tell the parking attendant that you are here for the swap meet. [Amenity]: Restrooms are acceptably clean. There's an outdoor patio area just outside of the food court and the Marketplace offers live entertainment on Saturday and Sunday from 12 PM to 6 PM. [Shops]: This indoor swap meet is a lot bigger and cleaner than I had expected. Specialty shops include auto center (stereo & alarm installation, auto accessories, window tinting, smog check test only, tires & rims, auto glass, auto upholstery - located on S Anaheim Blvd side and there's an outdoor car entrance to the center), a car dealer (yes you can buy and sell used cars just outside of the main building entrance), beauty shops (nails & salons), bridal & quinceañera, children's Wear, cosmetics, electronics, gift shops, flower shop & decors, houseware & furniture, jewelry, medical services (acupuncture), men's wear, phone repairs, shoes, socks & underwear, sporting goods, sportswear, t-shirts, tattoo & piercing, watch repairs, toys, games, vitamin shops, women's clothing, accessories, luggage, etc. Heck there's even a 99 cent bargain store inside of the marketplace. To my surprise, few shops actually sell really cute Hello Kitty plushies and anime merchandise. [Food]: The marketplace has plenty of snack shops and a good selection of Mexican food at the food court with tables. [Conclusion]: Frankly this is one of the best indoor swap meets in LA & OC that I have ever visited - clean restroom, solid food selection, and P.S. - There's even an A.I. I am beyond satisfied with the workmanship, the turnaround time, and the friendliness of Zeferino Heredia and his staff. I requested that they try to keep the new finish as close as possible to the original finish, and they were able to reproduce it perfectly. All of the dents, dings, scuffing, and scratches are no longer visible, and the worst damage (a large crack on the inside of the one of the doors) is fixed and no longer visible. This piece is ready to go for another lifetime. It was one week from pickup to dropoff, which I found very surprising considering the quality of the work. After I spent some time to look over the piece in detail once it was dropped off, I noticed just how much care was put into the restoration. The finish is completely smooth and uniform, and even the dirty aluminum hardware was cleaned and polished. The work was so well done that it's not obvious that any restoration work was performed, which is exactly what I (and I expect most customers) want for an antique restoration. It's also worth noting that I called another furniture restoration company before Heredia who quoted about double what Heredia charged, including the delivery (pickup and dropoff) charges. I don't think it's possible that the other company could have done a better job than what was done by Heredia. In the attached photos, there are some before and after pics of some of the most significant wear/damage that was repaired. I am now actively looking for more good deals on worn/beat-up mid century pieces so that I can have more work done by Heredia Antiques. I highly recommend them and will work with them again without hesitation.
