It was rainy, we were cranky....and we wanted to have a good day....and thus here we were. Americano and tea. Americano served with water to dilute to my liking (a win). Tea served in a personal press (double win!). My buddy got French toast and I got the smashed pea on multigrain (with mint, Parmesan, watercress) with smoked salmon. All of it was scrumptious. The staff were friendly and the service was fast to boot (not a common occurrence in New Zealand). I would definitely come back and, in case you were wondering, it turned out to be a Good day!

Annabelles is just such a place which is beautiful inside, but the views out onto the water are what you really want to see. Like most beachfront cafés, this one can seem a little expensive, but the coffee is reasonable and they do have some affordable tapas and other lunch options on their menu. What you pay a bit extra for is the location and that's fair enough. I'm not the posh type who would often choose a place like this, but chicks love it, and sometimes you just get dragged along. Not that I'm complaining, I enjoy good quality food and coffee and this place has both.

The coffee came out super tasty. The cafe is cute and in a great location (right on St Heliers Bay Road). It would be a great place to bring a friend and have a chat, as it didn't seem too busy when I went in around 9 am on a weekday. I am a fan of having a cafe near the bus stop! I would totally go here again, the outdoor seating looks great and it seems like a good place to sit down with a friend or a book for an hour or two. Hopefully my next coffee here with be "to stay."

The cafe was heaving but we were luckily able to grab some chairs and along with a small side table outside. We were enjoying out fantastic (as per usual) coffee when disaster struck. Lulu took exception to a passing Jack Russell and lunged sending the table, the glasses and cups flying, amid yapping dogs and human squeals. No problem for the Kohi team, who were straight out with brooms to sweep up the debris. Glass was everywhere. Then without a blink, fresh water and new coffees were delivered to calm the humans' nerves. Great to see such fantastic service! I would highly recommend the Kohi Cafe. It's a great place to hang out for coffee, especially on a sunny afternoon when you can sit right on the footpath - just watch out for passing Jack Russells. P.S. It must be their own Cigana beans that they use. They are so yum. It's a bit of a humble abode where they make the coffee. It's this little shack in the Sunhill Centre that doesn't have much to it. But don't let that fool you; they know how to do all the things that matter for a café well. They have a cute selection of pastries and bread for you to pick up on the way to work of for your weekend lunch. I usually prefer such accompaniments on my bagel, undressed, but with the generous amount of salmon and C.C already on there I totally forgot about it. Also, they mix fresh herbs through their cream cheese - big tick in my book. Perhaps, what stood for me the most though, was the service. Just little things - like the barista chatting to me while she made my coffee, bringing over water as soon as I sat down or asking how my meal was part way through - sometimes it's just the little things that make all the difference.
