I took a trunkload of items to the loading area, no one was around. I began to unload when a rude male came and did not offer to help. I had a full trunk of bags Every time I have gone in the past it has been an easy process. Every time in the past someone has come out to (at least offer) to assist with unloading. I decided to not unload except that my wife asked me to just let it go, that was the last load that I will donate there. Next time I will call a charity that picks up from my home. I love to shop at Angels Attic! I can always find things I need and of course, things I don't! I found a set of dishes that my daughter-in-law and I both own that was discontinued, so I was able to share my find with her. I have purchased some really cute dresses. Cypress Assistance Ministries is an amazing organization providing many opportunities and services to our community! I have been blessed to volunteer with CAM for the past 4 years and during that time I have been impressed with the many programs they offer such as a top rated Resale Shop (Angels Attic), the Food Pantry, ESL classes, Employment Assistance, Financial Assistance and much more! Their Food Pantry, where I volunteer most of my time, is amazing and well run with many partnerships with local stores, churches, organizations and the Houston Food Bank. With all of this community support we are able to provide a great selection of items to our clients. In addition we provide groceries monthly to shut in seniors and also partner with the Houston Food Bank to provide additional times during the month where seniors and others can get extra food! Cypress Assistance Ministries is well run by professional staff and volunteers. I am consistently amazed with the kind and caring attitude of everyone I come in contact with there! Boxes of Bread get donated by Grocery stores to Cypress Assistance Miniseries located at 11202 Huffmeister Rd. Houston TX 77065 On August 7th 2019 Boxes of Bread were placed in front of the front door of CAM for poor and needy people to take home . According to volunteers of CAM to whom I spoke with, the Director Brenda Sternberg had put out the boxes of bread . I was in the area all day long and observed same boxes left outside all day in 90 plus degrees heat and most likely what's left over will be put out tomorrow. Cypress Assistance Ministries and Angels' Attic is the same. Angels' Attic is a resale shop that helps fund the ministry. I was a victim of their price deception, as well as others per Google reviews. I contacted a lawyer and received confirmation that they were violating the law. I confronted Angels' Attic about this and was verbally harassed by one of their many rude workers for not wanting to support their deception. The CAM board members should all be ashamed. I first read the previous reviews from years past. It's obvious CAM has made improvements in the area of respectful communication and demonstrating compassion. I was at the store 2 times in September 2023. I also volunteered in August with our church group to help clean and organize the store. Staff were helpful and friendly. Yes, there was bread and vegetables on a cart by the door inside the shop and was invited to take what was on the cart. I did not see food on the ground outside. I found ideas for improvement were appreciated when shared with staff. I may not always find what I'm searching for, however, what store has everything I need. Let's all keep in mind, most of the staff are volunteers who may have their own challenges going on, we all have a story, let's all seek first to understand & demonstrate love. read more

This place is the worse . Tried to get assistance for me and my unborn child and they refused me . The lady at the front desk was so rude . Every time I would attempted to talk she would cut me off mid sentence and talk over me . I talk to a lady named Brenda hoping she would be able to help me with clothes , and toys for my child and she told me she could not help me because I could not prove that I paid rent at the apartment I live at . When I tried to explain to her the situation she got all defensive and so I just left . Do not go to this place . I would rather go to good will to donate. read more

CAM provides very good and helpful services and information to those who need assistance. THe resale shop is excellent.

They act like people want to be in dire situations. It isn't always easy to get a job or when you do other things can come into play. I made the mistake of confiding in a counselor, why I was having trouble. I assumed because these are Christian people that they understand certain situations. I didn't need help for bills, only food, but was recently told that I was coming every month, which apparently was an issue. I needed to get SNAP. I went into Cypress Assistance Ministries to use the food pantry for myself and my kids. The lady at the front desk started off my telling me that she's really hungry and that she's trying to eat healthy instead of having dessert. Insensitive! I mean that's wonderful that she has food to eat but I don't. From there I showed her my lease and she kept telling me "We need something more formal". I told her that wasn't enough information. She goes to the back and grabs a woman who walked up to me asking me what I wanted her for. Huh? I'm here for the food pantry. Cassie then shows me a piece of paper telling my landlord is not an authorized landlord. How is that my fault? It was a humiliating experience. They wanted to tell me No. They were coming from the place of what they "couldn't do" instead of trying to help me. Horrible place to seek assistance if you need it. read more

Now you know it's a shame when you have to give a CHARITY (intake) a bad review. I took a trunkload of items to the loading area as I have done many times in the past. I began to unload onto the sidewalk (as I have also done many times in the past). I was interrupted by an older woman who said "inside please" as she pointed toward the door. I had a full trunk of bags and (working) electronics and didn't care to leave my purse and car unattended as I made multiple loads. I asked her if there was someone who could help me unload. She (head turned away from me) laughed for several seconds then said "on a Monday???" Every time I have gone in the past it has been an easy process. Every time in the past someone has come out to (at least offer) to assist with unloading. I put the items back into my trunk and drove down to the Administration Office. After hearing about what happened a gentleman offered to help me. I decided to unload with his help, but that was the last load that I will donate there. *by the way there were at least 6 other people inside of the intake area. I saw that as WE unloaded. * Next time I will call a charity that picks up from my home. No hassles. read more

Called to see what kind of assistance they offer because a friend referred me to them and the lady immediately took my number and said "I'll call you right back"... 30 minutes later, I'm calling her back because I've waited 30 minutes and now it's 10 minutes to closing and when she answered the phone she sounded annoyed that I called her back. What kind of assistance is this?! Don't offer your services if you do not in fact have ANY intention of offering assistance and being kind and having customer service while doing so. Y'all know no ones story and y'all chose to be "of assistance" but lack professionalism and care in the people coming to you for help. read more

We came to CAM to drop off our gently used items. The staff here was very helpful (and thankful). We were able to pull up to the side of their building and get help unloading our vehicle. CAM also takes in extra food for their pantry. read more

Instead, they equip you with the tools necessary to to find the job thats rite for you. Using the techniques i have learned on just the first visit i was able to land a part time doing the exact type of work I was looking for.
