Once I told him what I was going through, he started telling me that I was probably imagining things and that he did not see any type of skin issues. I recently struggled with an issue in my home that present itself with hives and such so he basically told me it probably was a mind thing in my head. The whole time he had his back to me. It was just a horrible experience and makes me wonder what people think of blind people. I am a blind professional and pay my own bills but unfortunately in the publics opinion that still makes me less. Finally when I was at my wits end and was just about to tell him to get lost, he promptly says bye to the dog and just walks out of the room. I am like OK, do I even exist or what? I originally had no issues with my nose. Due to some breathing discomfort between my throat and…read moretrachea, I went to see Dr. Furst. The doctor asked me to get a CT scan of my nose and neck. After reviewing the scans, he told me that I had a deviated nasal septum that needed surgical correction, and that there was inflammation in my sinuses that needed to be cleared out. He also said he would enlarge the sinus openings to allow mucus to flow more easily. I told him that I didn't feel any discomfort in my nose, so why was surgery necessary? He said that generally, the nose, throat, and trachea are connected--if the nose is fixed, everything else would get better. He assured me that I would fully recover in two weeks, and I believed him, so I went ahead with the surgery. It's been almost two years since the surgery, and I am living in agony. There's a buildup of mucus in my nasopharynx that won't drain down, can't be cleared out, and I can't swallow it either. At night, the mucus flows back into my airway, making it hard to breathe and affecting my sleep. Sleep is so important for a person--poor sleep leads to countless problems. I used to be someone who could fall asleep the moment my head hit the pillow, but now, because of the postnasal drip, I wake up constantly throughout the night. I have tried everything I can, but the thick, sticky mucus keeps accumulating in my nasopharynx. Sometimes, my nasal turbinates swell up, making it even harder to breathe. On top of all this, I now get bacterial infections in my nose almost every month, and each infection makes me suffer for one or two weeks! If I could go back two years, I would slap myself a hundred times for listening to that doctor's advice and agreeing to the surgery. When I went back to see Dr. Furst after the surgery, he told me my nose was fine. So here's the truth: I had no problem with my nose, the doctor told me I had a problem and performed surgery, and now that I'm worse, he claims there's nothing wrong. This is an extremely irresponsible doctor. I'm truly living a life worse than death now. If one day I'm no longer around, it will be because of the surgery Dr. Furst performed. His surgery didn't help me--it ruined me! Dr. Furst, if you ever see this message and if you have even a shred of conscience left, please contact me and work with a more competent doctor to help me recover!

Most recently, I went to have my hearing checked. I worked with Jessica Mooney, one of the audiologists at the Kingstowne office. She was very knowledgeable, exceedingly patient and personable, and extremely thorough. I was able to "test drive" two different brands of hearing aids, and settled on one of them after conferring with her. She answered all of my questions, and was able to navigate through a few concerns and issues I had. I am very pleased with my experience.

I have been going here since November 2012 to get allergy shots. After two years of allergy shots…read moreand taking a one and a half year break from allergy shots due to school, I decided it was time to get back to it. Dr. Helbing has offices in Annandale and Springfield and they are open on different days. His offices are now closed on Fridays. The Annandale office is open Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays and the Springfield office is open Mondays and Wednesdays. It takes awhile to get to the maintenance dose (where you just come in every 2-3 weeks), but the nurses and Dr. Helbing are all very friendly and knowledgeable. While this office isn't as computerized as my previous allergy doctor (sign in on paper instead of on a computer), they are pretty efficient at getting you in and out of the office. The only downside is that the later office hours (open til 6 pm) for the Annandale location are only on Tuesdays, but you can also come in on Saturdays between 9 am and 12 pm. Be prepared for lots of kids though. Dr. Helbing will do an initial appointment to discuss your allergy symptoms and there will be a follow-up appointment with the dreaded allergy test (lots of pinpricks to determine what you are most allergic to). From there, they can make a suitable serum for you to start allergy shots. It took me about 6 months to get to the maintenance dose, which requires that you go twice a week to get a shot to gradually build up your tolerance. After each shot, you are supposed to wait approximately 30 minutes to make sure you do not have an allergic reaction. At least there are usually plenty of magazines to read.

I don't know if the first woman I spoke to a while back is still there or not, but if so I haven't had to deal with her, so that's a huge plus. My only issue with this particular branch of the practice is the terrible, terrible, TERRIBLE location. The building is confusing to navigate (The practice is on the 3rd floor, but you have to take several elevators to get to it depending on which side of the building you park on), and it's impossible to turn left out of the driveway. Furthermore, it's also impossible to make a U turn anywhere nearby, and I'm convinced that the only reason people live in this part of Springfield is that they simply got stuck there because they were unable to turn around and head back to Alexandria.

She/he is also a partner to the individual attempting the diet & is important to staying in a positive mindset. Dr. Dadkhah has proven to be such a partner for me in my efforts to lose weight. I am making progress and I am losing weight when I have never been able to do so alone in the past. My clothes are getting bigger & I have had to change to smaller sizes in some things. I have more energy & I feel like I am making progress. I very much look forward to meeting with Dr. Dadkhah. Without our time I don't have anyone to really discuss my diet. My efforts to lose weight are my main focus of life & I think about it all the time. None of my family & friends are overweight so for me this would be a solo journey if not for Dr. Dadkhah. The information she shares with me is always valuable but what's most most helpful for me is to have someone who is willing to talk about nutrition and food. Someone who tries to help figure out where things got off track if weight loss slows down, & figure out a new plan. For me, Dr. Dadkhah is that person who does all those things for me. I am an introvert but it's nice to have a dietitian where I can go talk about my thoughts, experiences, worries, challenges, setbacks, etc. Without my time with Dr. Dadkhah in this process then the whole diet thing would be so much harder to do. She is able to teach me & advise me but she also listens to me and helps me keep my thoughts on track so I don't follow a negative or wrong way of thinking. She celebrates my good weeks & she keeps me from feeling bad on weeks that are less successful. What I've learned is that dieting is not a cookie cutter deal. No one diet works for everyone. So what you may read on the Internet may not be what works best for you. I have learned to trust that Dr. Dadkhah is helping me to identify what is best for ME, & I have to trust what she suggests rather than go by something I may read on the Internet. She has created a weight loss program that is individualized to me, what works best for me, a program I can stick with.
