Love these guys!! I'm an adult getting back into skating after a ~15year break and I felt a little awkward at first when I realized I was the oldest customer by about 30 years, but then Will and the other employees took such good care of me and thoroughly welcomed me into the Vancouver adult skating community (there were other adults who came in after me to buy skates as well!). I spent about 3-4 hours working with them to get the best skates for my goals and then making little adjustments to ensure the perfect fit. They said people often come back for adjustments, but I just did it all in one visit, and now I have the perfect skates! I'm so in love! They have a pretty extensive selection of skate boots and blades in addition to all the accessories (soakers, guards, socks, ankle gel pads, etc.) They also offer a few free blade sharpenings when you buy skates from them. read more

I went here for the first time last week. I am an adult and I started Figure skating about a year ago and needed to move up to pair safe to jump in. My partner, who works in an ice rink, suggested this place. I am very glad that I took the time to go up there. They were really helpful and let me try a few pairs, heating and adjusting each. When I found a pair that I like the best, they put on the blades, sharpen the blades, taught me how to tie them properly, and how to make sure that the blades get sharpened correctly. I did end up buying a pair that was more expensive than my original choice. I kind of felt like I was being upsold at first, but honestly, it was the pair that my coach recommended, and I thought they felt the best on my feet. I heard the woman talking to other customers, and sometimes they would suggest a cheaper pair. I think they were honestly trying to help to pick out the pair that would work the best for the customer. They are a very particular about everything. Sizing, adjusting, she even told me exactly what socks to wear and exactly how tie my skate so that it molds properly to my foot as I wear it in. It was very busy. I waited patiently amongst the child skate prodigies as the sales reps helped others and heated and adjusted my skates. Since there are so many people, and it is a tight space, the staff do have to help multiple people at once, so I had to wait my turn, each step of the way. If you are getting skates fitted, be sure to give yourself a few hours. There is a really good sushi restaurant next-door that I went to all my blades were being sharpened. The skate felt so much better the third time I tried them on, after all the adjustments were made to fit them to me. Honestly, I am so happy that I didn't just buy them off the Internet because I feel like I would've felt bad spending that much money on them if they fit me the way they had originally fit. Because I was at the store, I felt more comfortable buying a skate that came without a blade on it. She sold it to me as a package and put the blade on right there. I didn't have to figure out what blade to buy (she used the same kind as the other skate I liked), or where to get it put together. read more

stopped in to research buying skates for my niece. Sad that this is the only game in town for used skates - sadder that the manager (I think) who purportedly was helping me immediately judged me when I said I was interested in USED skates and she started to make all kinds of excuses about fitting troubles and sizing (although it seems she'd have sold me a new pair without that argument) - she led me to the used section and as I was asking questions, she walked away from me... WALKED AWAY! I had tried to explain that my niece doesn't live here, but we have her size (based on standard sizing in the industry) but Madam was not interested in helping. I assume that there were lots of other parents who will apparently spend the bigger money on 'new' skates. I was on their email list - that'll stop - I can't say I'll never go in their again, because when my niece does visit, we may have to resort to visiting this shop, but I won't got there if I can help it! read more

I love going to this shop as an adult skater it's so important to feel safe on the ice and Giovanni was able to fix up a bad placement of my blades. Made such a huge difference! Thank you Giovanni! I stopped into Cyclone Taylor Skate and Dance because of the word "dance" on their awning. I didn't see anything dance related. Maybe they mean ice dancing? What they do have is everything you could need for figure skating. Not what I was looking for, but if anyone ever asks me where to buy a figure skating costume, at least I'll have an answer. I'll leave it to the figure skaters to review the selection and pricing at Cyclone Taylor Skate & Dance, since I know nothing about ice skating besides what I've seen on TV. read more

I have been making the drive from Bellingham (Washington) to Cyclone Taylor for the past nine years for my daughter's skating needs, everything from new skates, to clothing and maintenance sharpening. The staff has always treated me well, and treated all of the other customers I have recommended them to nicely as well. I appreciate the time and attention they take each time, whether it's fitting the boot the first time or needing to make adjustments as my daughter has worn the skates. read more

For some reason, my review of Cyclone Taylor Skate and Dance seems to always disappear from the public forum. Even after being contacted by the Owner, I still stand behind my customer experience and feel that others should be given balanced information. Anyways, although this store does have a wide array of inventory, customers should be wary because most items in the store have no price tag. When you ask how much an item is, the assistants will often go to the back to ask the Owner(s) who appear to know every single price of every item in their heads. I purchased ice skates for my 9 year-old daughter. After getting the skates widen and purchasing some guards, I walked out of the store $400 poorer. This despite the fact I had an in-store credit for co-signing my daughter's previous ice skates from before (note: they never even told me how much credit they gave me for the ice skates). But my surprise was when I went to the store web site and found that they were advertising the SAME ice skates that I paid $249.99 for only $149.99. When I called to ask them about the discrepancy, they claimed that the web site prices are in US dollars. Even so, a $100 difference?! Plus free shipping if I had bought it online? Incidentally, my best friend took her daughter to the same shop a week later and the price of the SAME ice skates as ours was $169.99! I'll never go back to this shop again. There's no transparency in a shop that doesn't have price tags on their merchandise. It can lead to dubious price fixing. read more

All of the staff were extremely helpful in choosing the perfect skate for my niece. The owner and all of her staff were friendly and very knowledgable about each product in the store.
