After reading the reviews for Dr. Purkert on Healthgrades.com, vitals.com, and in various discussion boards related to thyroid cancer, I decided to move forward with him. My wife and I were highly anxious about this situation, but Dr. Purkert's calm and patient demeanor went a long way towards setting us at ease. He rationally and unhurriedly explained everything about the surgery, the disease itself, and went over all questions we had. It's hard to say anything is "great" related to cancer, but really the experience is best described as such. He took all the time we needed, and we never felt rushed. Plus, he has a very calm way about him that was reassuring. As for the surgery, he performed it remarkably at Inova Fairfax Hospital. The man has skill, for sure. He removed the entire thyroid, but was able to save all four parathyroids. In fact, he even removed one parathyroid, checked it for cancer, and re-implanted it successfully. No nerve damage/vocal changes. I am only six months out, and already the scar is shockingly small. I feel it was a wise decision to go with Dr. Purkert. His positive reputation in thyroid surgeries is well-deserved.

Extremely disappointed…read more Called, sent an email, and spoke to the therapist before I went to see her. I told her my issue. She said oh yes, I can help you with that. Got to my appointment and she only helped me with one exercise that was nominal and did nothing for me. She took maybe 10 minutes with me about my issue. The rest of the hour we talked about personal things about her family and mine that were similar. She was very friendly, no problems there. She finally said that she really couldn't do much more. I could come back for two more sessions that would not be for an hour, but as I recall, she was still going to charge me for an hour and said she didn't know if it would help much. She referred me to a surgeon. I gave up on going to another Physical Therapist (PT) for 10 months. I figured it was a waste of time. I finally went to another one and within five minutes he gave me exercises that were phenomenal. Within two days I was seeing improvement. I no longer have any pain and I have phenomenal movement. The costs are extremely high. Like other reviews have said, they are dreadful about insurance, they are not informative about insurance, and even though they don't accept insurance, they are not very helpful about it. They are rude about it also. They do not explain things well at all. If you ask questions, they get irritated. I wish I had seen some of these reviews before I went. They were referred to me by someone who thought they could be helpful. Look elsewhere for your PT needs.

You have been warned: be very, very careful with them!!…read more This is a cash-for-treatment facility and you will NOT be reimbursed by Medicare or your insurance co. This key fact was misrepresented by front office staff, who said that if I paid more than the cash rate ($165 vs. $125), I would get an invoice with codes which could be processed by insurance: a statement then denied by BDI management. This facility was recommended by my orthopedic surgeon who claimed that their outcomes were superior and failed to mention the cash aspect. Well, their outcomes were no better for me and I am also now $1,250 in the hole, before I pulled the plug. I have protested strongly to my surgeon, warning him to fully disclose all facts before recommending this facility to his patients. Overall, it has left a bad taste and hence this warning to others, lest they suffer the same fate.

After quite a bit of research, I visited Dr. Nguyen to look into problems I was having with my…read moreeyes, which was cataracts. I've wore glasses and contacts as long as I can remember, and couldn't figure out why I was having issues all of a sudden. When I first went to My Eye Doctor to find out why my vision was blurred, they couldn't really figure it out. Thankfully Dr. Nguyen diagnosed the issue immediately. Since I'm younger (mid 40s) to have cataracts, I was certainly concerned with making the right decision to make a correction. Dr. Nguyen was extremely helpful in educating me and informing me of all my options when it comes to cataract surgery and all the different options for new lenses (IOLs). Of course I researched by reading several articles, watching videos, and reviewing tons of marketing by the different companies. I probably wasted a lot of time with all of that as ultimately, I found that I just needed to put my trust in Dr. Nguyen. She is up to date with all the new technologies, and is certainly well respected in the ophthalmology community. I really appreciate all the time she spent with me making sure I understood all of the benefits, side effects, and costs of all the different options when it comes to cataract surgery. Eventually, I opted to have a multi-focal lens implanted so that I wouldn't be dependent on wearing glasses as it helps you with seeing at a distance, intermediate, and reading. I didn't like the idea of seeing halos at night when driving, but Dr. Nguyen explained how there is no perfect lens, that will compare to the capabilities of our natural lenses. I struggled with making the decision, but know that she helped me make the best decision. I had my first surgery on my right eye at the end of 2020, and then a second surgery on my left eye in April of 2022 (after the cataract in my left eye eventually progressed). Everyone at her office was also VERY HELPFUL and kind with scheduling and answering all my questions, especially Nikki! Shortly after the first surgery I probably overreacted to some normal side effects, and thought maybe I had a retina detachment after watching You-Tube videos about it. She came in to her office on her day off, and had a retina specialist also come in to make sure I was ok. They were able to put my concerns at east and confirm I was ok. I really appreciated that. Even though cataract surgery is very common, I was still nervous about it. Both surgeries was well, and I was pleased to hear Dr. Nguyen say it was "text book" right after she finished. In talking with one of the nurses as I was wheeled out to our car, she commented on how if she were to pick an eye surgeon she would definitely work with Dr. Nguyen; and she sees all the local doctors there at the surgical center. That just helped reaffirm I had made the right decision. Now I can see great out of both eyes and no longer need to wear contacts or glasses, which is awesome!

I had heard great things of CWC, so I decided to give them a try. I'm upset that I ever gave them a chance. I have never had such a difficult time getting in contact with the doc (Tran) - no follow-ups, no callbacks to multiple messages, no sharing of results that were weeks and weeks overdue; and, all this due to an improper administration of tests - how is that even possible? And, to top it off, have you ever heard of a front desk receptionist giving patients some vague results of a test?! Seriously?! The receptionists have complete disregard to your privacy, your time, and dismisses you and all of your concerns. Did I mention that they laugh at you, too? Yes, you read that correctly. They are awful. Avoid CWC at all costs. +HIPAA/patient confidentiality not respected +no communication with docs +worst front desk, ever

Good reviews?! one was from the OWNER HIMSELF and another from someone with his same last name! How many other friends and family are writing reviews? Mike, the owner, was almost 10 minutes late for our first session. Second session, he reviewed and manipulated very little then, he had to "move some things", left with a dolly and I didn't see him for easily 25-30 minutes. Third session, he also reviewed and did very little manipulation, but then again I was on my own. I left when time was up with no closure from Mike because he was working with another patient. Each time I was there, Mike told me that the way I walk was causing my ortho problems and he imitated me in an exaggerated way that wasn't helpful in my understanding the problem and figuring out how to improve it. It just made me feel very uncomfortable honestly.
