You can't really drive through to get a michelada with beer inside... but you can drive through to get a Clamato Preparado with a beer ON the side. So I bought one of those suckers ($8?) and was about to drive off when something caught my eye. Smirnoff Preparada. What the heck? Turns out an SP is a 20 oz smirnoff icce, with gummy bears, chamoy and chile inside the beverage. Then on TOP of the beverage, more gummy bears, chamoy and chile. Obviously I had to get one. It tasted like sh... nothing good but the gummy bear chamoy concoction on top was delicious. All of these things are an acquired taste of course so feel free to experience this madness on your own.

Lots of Stripes stores have the Laredo Taco Kitchen area in the back but I prefer this one for a couple of reasons: it is cleaner than many and the papas a la Mexicana are always tender and well-seasoned. I can't help it, I love my Mexican comfort food and a taco made with their chunky, mellow and well-seasoned papas just makes my morning easier to deal with. The other breakfast ingredients that I've tried are fine too. But I generally don't order any of the meaty combinations so I can't vouch for those. If you are curious, they typically offer bacon & egg, chorizo con papas, machacado & huevo, huevos con frijoles and sometimes chicarrones con salsa. The red salsa at the bar is good but is blended to a nearly smooth consistency. A few more little chunks would be welcome, along with a little more seasoning. The green sauce is good but one time I found a hard bit of something in there that preoccupied me all the rest of the day, wondering just what it could have been. But I didn't get sick from it so I let that go. When my car needs gas and I'm even somewhat in the neighborhood, I go here for fuel (for the vehicle and for the human) If it's lunchtime I might get a picadillo taco for lunch. I know someone who loves their pollo con salsa chipotle but I haven't tried it myself. The service at the hot food line is very good and it helps if you can speak enough Spanish to order in that language. The clerks who ring you up are friendly and tend to remember their regulars. Oh and the gasoline is okay too. Just be careful maneuvering in and out of the lot because they get busy, especially in the mornings before 9:00 and in the afternoons after 4:00.

I normally stop bye early mornings to buy a soda or two...but this morning was horrendous disgusting. I pulled 32 oz. cup to fill with the Dr. Pepper and to my surprise there was orange soda residue on the rim. I thought nothing of it and simply got another cup from the other side of the dispenser and this one was a hideous monstrosity...it was still full of soda pop and there a pleasant bite mark on the styrofoam. I told the cashier and she simply through the cups that I had shown her and pulled another cup that appeared new and clean. But couldn't be sure. When I informed her that the idea of people drinking from the cups and putting them back was unsanitary; she simply frowned and shrugged it off. I'm here to let you know; check twice before filling your refreshments and Stripes disregard for sanitary practices is truly disgusting. I will let my friends and family cultivate their own feelings on my experience.

Tiny store with tasty treats…read more We discovered Tindahan after we tried to have dinner at Cabalen, only to find out the restaurant was closed. This teeny three aisle convenience store keeps a variety of familiar Filipino grocery items, snacks, and other Asian sundries. The nice lady working there, originally from Torrance, CA (I remembered), told us that Cabalen is open for breakfast and lunch only and pointed us in the right direction towards another Filipino restaurant nearby that was open for dinner. We got a couple of things from Tindahan to snack on for later back at the hotel before moving on to our dinner destination...

It turns out that prescriptions cost a little less-so it's a win-win. WALGREENS called the other location and had them forward my other prescriptions. Easy peasy!!! And they have cosmetics, snacks, drinks and more, so I had some time to look around while I waited for my order. Great location for me, too.

I drove down from Austin Tx and staying close to this store. I just walked over there and the doors…read morewere locked at approx 7:20pm Tuesday Oct 6th. A young gentleman waiting also said they lock the door to go to the bathroom. There were at one point like 8 of us outside waiting for at least 20 to 30 minutes, people started leaving. We could not see anyone at all on the inside and I started to get really concerned. Why would there only be 1 person on a busy evening working? I was about ready to call 411 or 911. I rattled the doors instead. This tiny lady came to the door finally and was super pissed off at me. She wouldn't let me talk, she just gave me a butt chewing about how rude it was to rattle the door. I went on and made my purchase but...really? She went off on me because I was concerned? Sorry, they don't do that in Austin and in these weird times, I don't think a tiny lady should be there by herself or be rude to any customer. She could have said she appreciated my concern but that was the store manager's procedure.
