I came in today for a Hepatitis-B vaccine (this is required because I am applying for a green card), I made the staff aware I was pregnant by filling out a form that asked me if I was pregnant, to which I selected yes. I had my vaccine and then afterwards I checked my vaccine record which informed me the vaccine I was given was Heplisav-B. The CDC website states the following: 'Until safety data are available, providers should not vaccinate pregnant women needing hepatitis B vaccination with Heplisav-B' and the Texas Health & Human Services states: 'There are no clinical studies of Heplisav-B in pregnant women. Until safety data is available for Heplisav-B, providers should continue to vaccinate pregnant women needing Hepatitis B Vaccine with Hep-B-Alum (ENGERIX-B® or RECOMBIVAX HB)'. I called the pharmacist who gave me the vaccine who was very unhelpful and gave me incorrect information just telling me it was safe even though there has been NO studies on this specific vaccine in pregnant women. So unprofessional, and I'm really praying this does not have adverse affects in my baby. read more
