I would like to highlight our tour guide and narrator, Lindsay who is a naturalist and someone whose passion, expertise and knowledge was palpable. She is articulate and personable combining just the right amount of enthusiasm and humor throughout the trip. You could feel not only her energy but her authentic respect and devotion to educating others about these giants of the ocean. I feel blessed everyday that I get to live near the ocean here in Massachusetts and to know these amazing mammals live and breathe in our waters. I've spent…read moreyears in the boating industry, and what I witnessed was not a matter of "rough seas" -- it was a matter of poor judgment and improper vessel handling. The captain maintained a speed completely inappropriate for the sea state, causing violent hull slamming for nearly the entire crossing. Passengers were being thrown around, hanging onto tables just to stay upright. Several people were vomiting. This went on for an hour. At multiple points, the impact force was strong enough that injuries could easily have occurred and may have. With roughly 100 passengers aboard, this was not just uncomfortable -- it was dangerous. They better hope lawsuits do not come their way. The weather and wave conditions were fully predictable well before departure. Any competent operator would have known to reduce speed, adjust heading, or delay the trip. Instead, the captain chose to plow through steep chop at high speed, ignoring basic seamanship principles and putting everyone at unnecessary risk. To make matters worse, the crew announcer praised the captain afterward and asked for tips, while many passengers were shaken and demanding refunds. The disconnect between the crew's messaging and the reality of the situation was astonishing. This was not an unavoidable rough ride -- it was the result of reckless decision‑making. The captain's handling of the vessel was unacceptable, and the company should be held accountable for allowing a trip to be run in such a manner. Captain Johns needs to re-evaluate their quality control and training protocols.

Captain Jake and the crew were a pleasure to listen to--knowledgeable, engaging, and genuinely fun. The tour around Hyannis Harbor was beautiful, offering stunning views as the sun set over the water. The boat itself was spotless and very comfortable, and the whole crew was incredibly friendly and welcoming. It felt like the perfect way to spend a summer evening--relaxing, scenic, and well-hosted. I'd definitely recommend Bay Spirit Tours to anyone visiting the area. A top-notch experience from start to finish! They have been around for many years at the harbor. A group of friends and I…read moretook a Bachelorette Weekend Trip to the Cape in September of 2017, all six of us agreed that this was our FAVORITE part. We researched several charters in the area and theirs was the most reasonably priced-and I am not convinced anyone could have given us a better experience. Being from the south, we weren't sure what to expect, and we were blown away by the afternoon we spent with Tom and Helaine. The day before our charter, they actually cancelled it because the weather wasn't going to be great. When we woke up the next day, the forecast had changed so we called to ask if they would consider taking us out after all-they were so excited to hear from us and emphatically agreed! As we entered the Nantucket sound, Captain Tom spotted some seals and brought us in for a closer look. As we idled, the seals swam and played feet away from us!!! Amazing! When the bride-to-be got cold, Helaine zipped her up in one of Captain Tom's heavy duty jackets-this is just one example of the continued kindness and hospitality they showed us on the charter. When we reached the traps, Captain Tom and Helaine patiently taught us what to do, and we hooked and pulled the traps from the water all on our own! We left with eight (huge) lobsters and an experience we will never forget. Going out on a charter with Chatham Boat Tours was so much more than a touristy experience. I felt like Tom and Helaine invited us into their lives, and enjoyed sharing the experience with us as much as we enjoyed them. They treat their customers like family, they catered to us specifically, and Helaine even sent us off with two sticks of butter, cups to melt it in, lobster crackers, and some freshly baked potatoes! So sweet, above and beyond! I encourage anyone considering taking a lobster charter in the area to give these amazing people your business. (I can't stress enough how wonderful Tom and Helaine are!!!) Their friendliness and eagerness to make sure we had the best time possible was what made this so special for us.
