Avoid This Venue at All Costs - Had to Take Them to Small Claims Court…read more If I could give this venue zero stars, I would. My experience was an absolute nightmare, and I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. The owner is a disrespectful crook! I reserved the venue to hold my daughter's baby shower and another's daughter's wedding. Everything was fine in the beginning, but as time went on, he began demanding additional funds in advance. After the baby shower, he suddenly claimed that I owed him more money for utilizing the parking lot across the street--something he had offered when I first secured the venue. He is not even the owner of that lot! Throughout our conversations, he was extremely disrespectful. When I decided to cancel the wedding because of his unprofessional and hostile behavior, he became irate. The issues escalated to the point where I had to take him to small claims court. Even in court, he consistently lied. Unfortunately, despite the judge's reluctance, he still managed to keep my deposit. My suggestion? Stay FAR away from this money-hungry savage! There are plenty of venues with honest owners who respect their customers--this is NOT one of them. Save yourself the stress and go elsewhere.

Siegfried Tieber is a riveting performer and I highly recommend attending one of his shows. In true Atlas Obscura form, the entrance to the show was discretely tucked away in the corner of a parking lot just 2 blocks from Grand Central Market. Self-service parking is inexpensive at just $6 for the evening. Once my husband and I checked-in with a staff member, we climbed a small set of candlelit stairs that led to a large studio space with exposed brick walls. There is a tiny staffed bar that was lit by strung Edison bulbs throughout the space. There were only 26 seats at this special close-up prestidigitation (sleight of hand) performance, so it was an exciting way to experience a unique art form. Support local theatre and see what Civic Center Studios has going on throughout the year! If you're an artist searching for a great studio, this is it. Pro Tips: - No food service, so grab a bite to eat at the Grand Central Market before a show - Bring cash to tip the bartenders

The staff (especially Leah) made the whole detox thing feel oddly comforting -- gentle, calming, and weirdly hopeful instead of clinical or scary. Whatever session I did -- with watery cleansing, gentle body‑works or that "let's reset your organs" vibe -- I left feeling lighter, calmer and weirdly proud of my insides for once. Even my brunch the next day tasted like a triumphant comeback instead of "why did I even bother." The place feels clean and welcoming, not the kind of "alternative spa cult" you hear horror stories about. Instead, it's more like a cozy hideaway for your gut, body and energy -- where the healing feels real, and you leave wondering if your digestive system just whispered "thank you." If you've been thinking about doing something wild for your gut -- this place might just be the gentle, slightly magical jolt your insides needed.

Eddie and Alex were right on time, at both locations before the wedding (for the bride getting ready, and groom getting ready). And that's not easy as he drove from LA to San Diego for our wedding. As soon as they arrived, they got right to work. They took control when it was needed, angled us for the best shots and caught so many wonderful memories! We were fortunate to get married on the beach and the sunset photos Eddie and Alex captured are absolutely breathtaking! We also hired them for the photo booth and their photo booth is not your typical one - it is a full on studio style setup with Alex taking the photos! Great shots and memories were made! When we were searching for a wedding photographer, one of our non-negotiables was to receive every photo taken, even if it was an accidental shot of the grass. We wanted everything. Most photographers we spoke to would not agree to this. But Eddie was open to it and worked with us on it and ended up giving us ~3600 photos (40GB)! Yes, 40GB! :) That doesn't include the photo booth photos (which were another ~175). His honesty, hard work and incredibly friendly personality won us over! We can't say enough about Eddie and his team. Thank you very much for giving us years of memories to look back on. We recommend South Bay Studio to any and everyone from San Diego to LA!
