I asked for a mushroom brown long bob cut and I got a reddish brown highlights that took 3 fixes to get. Unbelievable amateur job. I gave up trying to achieve the look I wanted after spending 4 hours in the salon since obviously Jennifer couldn't figure it out. I wasted my money and I have an ugly uneven haircut with ugly color. The more I look into the details of my hair, the worst it gets. She did a blowout styling at the end to try to cover the defects but I know and see all the errors. In the middle of trying to fix, there was a part where my hair was PURPLE. She even said oh ur hair is purple... I can't have purple hair and she kind of laughed saying "what do you do that can't have purple hair" excuse me? Very unprofessional. I am always hopping around to do my hair. Since Cutting Edge was close by and I didn't want to sit months for the stylist I went to before, I decided to give this place a try. The reviews were good and I'm always down to try local places. The prices don't really reflect the final total, but that's OK. I understand that it depends on the needs of the appointment. I showed a picture to Maya beforehand on what I wanted. She was really communicative and texted me to make sure she knew what I wanted. When I arrived, I was the only customer. My appointment literally took 6 hours and many clients later. I was the first and last. Lol. One thing I dislike is spending more than 4 hours at the salon, so I was getting really impatient. Just to be clear, Maya and Jenny were super nice and their customer service is great. They even offered snacks and coffee, which is highly appreciated. Also, the bleach sat on my hair for 3 hours, which never happens! I was afraid my hair was going to fall off, but that wasn't the case. My haircut took super long since Maya handed it off to Jenny. Jenny really struggled with curling my hair, so Maya had to take over. By the time I got out of the salon, it was dark. The end result of my hair was OK, but the bayalage wasn't raised high enough compared to the front highlights. Overall, my hair was nice, but I wasn't in love and the time it took was way too long. It's been over a year since the pandemic and I was long overdue for a haircut as well as a hair coloring session. As the pandemic is settling and everyone is getting vaccinated, I finally felt more at ease to show up at a salon for a long hair appointment. After doing much research on Yelp to find a suitable hair salon, I stumbled upon Cutting Edge and definitely have no regrets! Let me start by saying the appointment process is seamless. I scheduled an appointment a few weeks in advance via their website and also called the salon to confirm my appointment as I was looking for a balayage/ombré coloring session. Maya answered the phone and was friendly and very helpful. She asked me to send her pictures of my current hair and what hair style I was looking for to fully understand what hair style and color I was hoping to achieve. I highly appreciated this! On the day of my appointment, Maya was very welcoming. The inside of the salon is clean and well kept! Maya and Jennifer were the two hair stylists working for the day and they each sat clients over 6 ft. apart and on opposite ends. Maya and I reviewed the hair style and balayage + ombré I wanted to achieve and she went straight to working her magic! :) I was prepared for this 5-6 hour session as cutting hair and the balayage with the ombré are an art in their own. It takes quality time and patience to get the results you want, so I definitely appreciated Maya's time and utmost effort to make this happen. In between sessions with my hair (like when my hair was processing or toning), Maya was super efficient and taking care of other incoming customers who had appointments for haircuts. She was diligent while maintaining great customer service. Her interaction with her clients was positive! Maya always followed up with me to ensure I was doing okay and comfortable during these waiting periods. She's pure awesomeness and I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for quality work! Not only thing, I enjoyed talking to her as the interaction at a salon between a hair stylist and client are just as important! You get quality work for what you pay for. The outcome of my haircut + light ashy blond balayage with ombré tips was phenomenal! Pictures don't do it justice. I would give 0 star if I could. Just had the worst hair washing experience here. The service was awful and they are dishonest about the price. Before the hair washing process began, I told my stylist, Jennifer, try not to get water on my face because I just had a laser surgery on my face skin. However, she not only splashed water on my face but also left shampoo in my right ear. Not to mention that she went to answer a phone call and opened the front door in the middle of the process. After washing my hair, Jennifer roughly tied up my hair and put me under a hooded hair dryer so that she can attend to another walk-in customer. As the customer who made a reservation beforehand, I felt very disrespected. That hooded dryer messed up my hair and made me extremely uncomfortable. Then Jennifer blow dried my hair about 5 minutes and said she is done - most of my hair was still wet! Finally, Jennifer said that the price for hair wash service ($10) I saw when making my appointment online is for men only. And since she blow dried my hair (only 5 mins), I will be charged $25. I wouldn't mind paying more for women's hair but she should have informed me in advance. Obviously this salon is not clear with customers about prices. She finally charged me $20 (before tips), which is more than expected. I will never step foot to this salon again. Extremely disappointed & waste of money. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SALON! read more

Finally found someone who made my brassy locks ash! I tried a couple salons after my long time stylist moved out of state but was never satisfied with the 'orangey' color. I took a chance and booked balayage/baby lights and a cut with Maya. Thank you Yelp! It's so hard to find a stylist that listens to what you want and actually delivers. I think this review will help other girls out. Please do not waste your money here for balayage service. My appointment was at 10:30am and because I want babylight balayage, it took longer than expected. Jennifer had a next client at 2pm so she was rushing with my hair. On top of that, she made me fold foil papers for her while she was bleaching my hair, which I didn't mind at first but it was still a little odd that a hair stylist asked a client to do some work while I paid $$ for the service. After she washed my hair, she asked me to blow dry my own hair while she mixed the toner ( at this point, I was not happy with the service). My hair was over-processed and was so brassy after the bleach. Because the hair was brassy, when she toned it with ash color, it turned out to be this ugly greenish color. She kept repeating "oh after a few washes, your hair will turn out ashy like you want". That was when I know she messed up. I hated how my hair turned out so much that I went to another stylist to fix it. I was shock when the other stylist took a picture on the back of my head!! There were so many uneven bleach spot (see my pics), which make me so upset. As a professional & ethical hair stylist, Jennifer should have seen this mistake and be honest with me, but instead she let me ask walk out of the salon like that and paid over $300 for this ugly hair. I was hopeful to find a good hair stylist after seeing so many positive reviews on Jennifer's work for balayage, but it turned out to be a big disappointment and waste of money. Just an FYI to everyone, if you go there, everything is a la carte. I had no idea. My wife went for a hair cut and in the process of getting her hair cut, the hair dresser dampened her hair. Understandable, it's easier to cut. However, the hair was not dried up after the dampen. I personally have never experienced this anywhere. Usually when I go for a hair cut, if the hair dresser dampens the hair, they dry it up (without styling of course) just so I can see the finished product. Heads up for everyone! I'm updating my review because Maya was able to fix my haircut somehow and she put in real genuine efforts to do so!! She owned up the mistake and offered to help fixing all the flaws. She did the hairwash, blowdry and spent good amount of 45+ minutes on my hair and made sure every inch was fixed!! She was humble through the process. I would also like to add Jenny was really sorry and the earlier terrible haircut was totally unintentional and did out of hurry! Also I have seen her doing really good haircuts to other clients so she seems to be fine stylist otherwise, maybe it was a bad day for her when she attended me!
