I love cutting crew! My family goes there all the time!

Literally never coming back. The manager Kristen completely ruined my hair she looked at my reference photo for two seconds and butchered my hair. i'm fully convinced she had no idea what she was doing and instead of communicating that with me, she decided to butcher my hair with absolutely no remorse. I had to stop myself from crying in the chair when she chopped off a huge chunk of my hair without hesitation nowhere in the reference photo was my hair supposed to be that short!! read more

Walked in and the girl asked d you have an appointment I said no I don't, Then she said Ok I have enough time to do it now, Didn't like the way she said it.. But I was happy she had time to cut my hair to make me feel good... Yep Felt So uncomfortable!! She cut my hair Crappy then Blowed dried it, Not like the pic I showed her.. Too Much in a Hurry She was, and after it was done went to pay $47 Dollars I looked at her no smile or nothing on her face, did not want Dram... So nice person that I am Also left a 10 Dollar tip Which she replied back thankyou didn't even faze her at all, Wished the other gentleman that was working Would have Done my hair instead... So much a Better Vibe!! Than what she was! read more

To begin with, the stylist was in a nasty, sulky mood that day, which didn't bode well. I told her exactly what I wanted and she did pretty much the opposite. I wanted my bangs trimmed to a certain length; she chopped them too short in the middle, too thin and uneven everywhere. I wanted the length in back shortened a bit, sides shorter than the top and angled to show the lower half of my ears, existing layers shaped up, and an even, consistent, sort of flowing look all the way around. Nope. Instead she cut out the layers in back leaving what I call a flap from the crown hanging over, left the back long and turned it into a mullet, cut the top too short, left the sides too long, and cut unevenly around my ears even though she made a show of checking everything was even. I didn't have my glasses on so I couldn't see the unevenness until I got home. I said I wanted my natural curl to show and have body, and she started brushing it out straight and flat until she caught the look I was giving her in the mirror. I had also asked beforehand if she would be able to correct the remains of a skate cut (feathering on the sides) I didn't want that a previous stylist had given me. Sure, no problem she says. Right, she just made the whole thing worse. I have naturally curly hair and in the past I've had easy, comb with a hair pick and go styles. I've never had to mess with my hair so much in my life to get it looking halfway presentable after a cut. Avoid at all costs. read more

They don't take reservations but Everytime I've tried walking in for an apt they've also told me they're not taking walk-ins. So yeah not sure what you have to do to actually get someone to cut your hair read more

Definitely NOT the place to get a cut, I have also been an unfortunate victim of their "stylists". Maybe the place has crooked floors, or all of employees have one leg sorter than the other because it seems to be impossible for them to cut hair evenly. In addition they DO NOT listen to you and do whatever they please. I have a simple angled bob style, I have explained painstakingly what I want, showed previous photos of myself and still they mess it up, if you can't do the cut just SAY SO!! I still go there for my color as it is a great price ($25 mon-thurs). But I will not let them touch my hair with scissors. You also have to be careful who you get to do your color, there are a few girls (the red head) who do not get the roots. I didn't complain, after all it is $25 but choose not to use her again. read more

I have been going to this place for over a year. But a few days ago, thought I try a new hair dresser. Boy what a mistake. Worst haircut ever. I showed her what I wanted, asked her if she could do this. Sure no problem. Now granted I believed her. Now it is super short with what looks like a bald spot. Before she started, I told her I had a cow lick on the back of my head, seened her cutting that spot. Told her don't cut that, oh I will make sure it stays down. So now I have to wait for the hair to grow. Thanks for my bald spot. Grrr read more

Went to Cutting Crew to get my haircut. Every time I go, I tell the stylist how I would like my hair. The cut I got prior to this one was ok. I had to fix it but it was manageable. The most recent one I received was an utter nightmare. I thought it was ok, until I got home, then I noticed that there was a very noticeable chunk taken out of my bangs, and very thin. On further inspection from my mother, she saw that there was a huge chunk of hair taken out of the back, uneven, and not blended together. Also the hair was cut way too short on the top of my head. I had to go to another stylist to fix it and was told that I will have to wait for it to grow out to undo the mess the stylist at CUTTING CREW made. I will not mention the stylist name because I believe calling a particular person out would be just plain mean. I received a survey on my experience from there and never heard back. They have lost my business and any good recommendation is enough for me. read more

Overcharged for a bleach service and charged for a conditioning treatment I never received. After the second round of bleaching because she missed several spots the first time she left bleach in my hair and ears even after rinsing. Completely ruined the shirt I had on by letting bleach run all the way down my back to my waist. When I called and asked for any kind of refund the manager lied and said she would call me back... when I called back two hours later I was told that I could not even have a partial refund and that it's just something that happens and they can't help that sometimes they completely ruin shirts. Was also told that I needed to accept I "look ten times better now than you did when you came in" and that what I was wearing "was just a t-shirt anyway, wasn't it?" I have had good service here before but apparently the lady who did my hair previously has now left the business and after my treatment by the manager I will not be returning; I'm pretty sure I can find someone to mangle my hair, insult my clothing and appearance for free if I'm really desperate for that sort of thing. read more

Cutting Crew - the back of my shirt after my service - Hair Salons Near Me - Elmira, New York

I am giving Cutting Crew one star because this thing requires it, but they don't even deserve one. I am baffled as to how some of the salon workers got a job cutting hair. I have (more like had) a bob hairstyle. It was getting long so I asked one of the ladies for a trim. I told her I wanted it a little angled so that it was longer in front and shorter in back so that when the back grows it won't be as noticeable from the front. She asked if I wanted any layers in the back, and I said that a tiny bit would be fine. Instead, here's what happened: She cut my hair shorter in front, and longer in the back. My profile is not angled. There are layers in the very front and sides instead of only in back. There are so many layers, that my hair is rounded. Not only is it not what I asked for, but everything that I did NOT WANT. I even said that I don't want layers that will make my head look like a coconut. Well, it does. My hair is so short that I can't even fix it. Even worse, it is so short and screwed up that I have no way to hide it with anything. I can not stress how unhappy I was when I saw my hair. The sides are uneven and it's completely hopeless. Honestly there is nothing I can do except wait for it to grow out to fix it. I have never been so disgusted by how someone cut my hair, especially since she did not follow anything that I asked of her and instead did her own thing. Do not go here if you want your hair to look nice, no matter how inexpensive. read more

I wanted a simple French braid with barrel roll curls pined over it and then blended at the bottom for a romantic braid style for my wedding day. I showed the stylist step by step a you tube video of exactly what I wanted and she kept taking out my hair over and over, without communicating what the hell she was doing. I was in the chair for almost 3 hours...ended up LATE of my own wedding with no make up. I ended up with a 5 minute throw it together braid style that looked like crap and fell out 5 minutes later. IF YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO STYLE OR ARE HAVING DIFFICULTIES...GET YOUR MANAGER...The manager saw what was happening and I was bawling in the chair because it was taking so long and then they still tried to charge me 65 dollars for a crap job and the manager was extremely rude. LACK OF MANAGEMENT AND LACK OF TALENT. If ALL you know how to do is barber cuts Don't tell me you can do the style I'm asking for, especially for an important event such as my own wedding! Worst customer service experience of my life! Never will go there ever again and you shouldn't either. If I could give zero stars I would. read more

So the third time is the charm. The last 2 times I went there were shall we say communication issues?? Didnt realize I wanted a color, didnt realize I was still waiting, didnt realize I hadnt been signed in, cant have the colorist I was waiting for etc etc I call to see if I can be added to a waiting list and I am told that would be an appointment, which they do not do. So I go there and sign in and I am told its a 30 min wait. 45 minutes later I am still waiting when another woman walks in. She says she called and made an appt for highlights and has a seat. 15 minutes later the manager calls her over to start, immediately offering a BS excuse that this girl did not have an appt, that she called and was added to the waiting list. Ummm yeah you told me you couldnt do that??? So I am looking at waiting for another color to be done after waiting almost an hour already. No thanks. All I wanted was a simple root touch up, I never even have them style it to save them time and I tip roughly the same amount as the coloring charge is, so roughly a 40-50% tip.Yup my fault for going back, wont make that mistake again.Plenty of salons around here that are willing to treat me better and appreciate my business. read more

My hair is difficult to cut & style, and the gentleman working did a perfect job. I can wear the style curly or straight, and he listened to everything I wanted. He somehow fit my list of demands into a great haircut, along with advice regarding taking care of my hair. I had a great experience, and would recommend it to anyone. I've already had countless people compliment my hair and I recommend cutting crew to all of them. read more

My family and I all go to this salon. We're all split between Torie and the younger black girl. Recently the young girl left and no one will tell us how to get ahold of her even though she told us whenever she stops working there that we could still have her do our hair. I think the salon is trying to keep clients to the salon and trying to help themselves other than help the clients. We also have witnessed a few time a blonde girl who I believe to be the manager talking rudely to the other stylists. She has even given people who walk in an attitude. Which is why I don't dare go to her. I do not like her at all!!! Torie and the young black girl are very nice very happy girls. So we will stick to Torie, but the rest of us will be going to a new salon or trying to find the other lady. read more
