My hair is the source of many compliments, and has even been literally 'patted' by a few celebrities. Elio is an amazing cutter. Trained in the heyday of fringes, bobs, bottle blonde and pixie short crops, no matter which head he touches, the results are always A+. The salon is modern, but low-key and very reasonably priced. They use L'Oreal Colour, and stock a good range products for purchase from Label M, GHD and L'Oreal. To demonstrate, I'll walk you through shall I? Jason, my stylist, whisked me through to my chair as soon as I arrived and promptly offered me an herbal tea (which was delicious). We talked about my hair, as you do, and he gave me the requisite horrified looks when I told tales of bleaching disasters past. So far so good. Then, he got to colouring, during which time I was treated to a delicious hand massage by an assistant. When it came time to rinse, I was taken out the back to this room filled with scented candles and low light where I had a shampoo followed by a head massage. By this time I was practically horizontal with relaxation and was taken back out the front for my cut, blow wave and another herbal tea. I went to Oscars SOUTHLAND for Balyage, a new foiling treatment where they backcomb and comb through the colour to achieve an Ombre' effect. My hair dresser Sandra took a risk and ignored my request to be very blonde, which paid off in the end. I don't think any hairdresser has ever completely ignored what I asked for and done her own thing, but the colour suits me so kudos to Sandra. For the longest time I couldn't afford to go to them though, and I began travelling so I wasn't able to visit. Now I'm back in Melbourne I'm going to start going again. Their prices are comparable to 10 years ago, they haven't gone up much. It was expensive then and it's still expensive. I observed that while this salon is really good, there is a detachment in the staff to each other which is a little disconcerting. They don't seem like they're having very much fun and tippy toe around each other. It's not a complaint, although it doesn't add to the experience. Now there are tv screens and iPads for the kids. The service is great and personal and they know just how to treat the kids. They will all look forward to getting their hair cut. The new shop is just up the road from the Chadstone monolith with none of the parking hassles, crowds or people in trakky daks lining up at Tiffany. On Saturday I visited Debbie at Total Beauty Care. Total Beauty Care is located just over the…read moreroundabout beyond the shopping strip in Poath road. From the moment you step inside it feels calm, positive and serine. The air is lightly perfumed, the rooms are clean and large with high ceilings. Half way through my visit I realised it was also free of the busy car traffic noise from outside. Replaced by Debbie's choice of good music playing in the background. All this contributed to the fantastic vibe of the place. I was preparing for a special night out so had my toe & finger nails painted. There was a huge collection of OPI colours and we easily chose the right colour. She gave me some tips for extending the life of the polish and did a fabulous job. I was also super happy with my eyebrow wax and tint and the eyelash tint. It was all completely painless, again we consulted about appropriate colours and shades and for the entire time I was there I felt special. When I met my friends later in the day to get ready for our outing they all commented me on my how fabulous my eyes looked. This was my first ever eyelash ting but I think this will be something I do regularly. There was even a discount for paying cash. I will be back soon to try out a facial. I haven't had such an awesome beauty experience in a long time. Highly recommended ladies!
