She didn't ask a whole lot of questions other than ensuring that I understood and was comfortable with just how short my hair was going to be. She did it exactly as I asked! Sometimes I've had stylists work on my hair and then at the end ask which direction I part my hair even though I walked into the salon with the part on the right! I know it's minor but how could you miss that if your business is hair? Jennifer didn't ask, not only that, she cut it dry which is great when you have wavy to curly hair so you can tell just how short it will look when the hair is dry. I will totally back next time!

I know it would be cliche to compliment Fratelle on how welcoming they are or their great customer service because, let's face it, these are the core components of any hair salon. However I have been to places where the person who looked after me was (excuse me for me direct) rubbish and it was as if they were being friendly because it is part of their job specs. Somehow I don't feel like this at Fratelle - you don't get the fake smile and the staff are really good + you get a complimentary drink as well!

I was passing as male at the point often enough that people would call me "sir" in public. I had specifically dressed to be as masculine as possible. Still, when I asked for a haircut (my hair was already very short) I was turned away by the woman at the front desk who informed me that only men were allowed. I asked how she knew I wasn't a man and she stated she "just knew." Protip: it was my voice that gave me away. There was one other customer in there at that time. I went up the street and got my hair cut at a great barber shop where they were kind and did an excellent job. It's cool that they cater to men but apparently that means only as judged by the lady at the front desk. This isn't about politics or whatever. This is about the fact that I was every bit as masculine as anyone in there. It's funny, too, because this place is about as hipster as can be. It's not like they are even catering to the uber masculine stereotype.

He yelled me when I reflected I will never come back. All these behaviour is because I changed my appointment time. I am lucky that he did not cut my hair. I would never want him to have my money. This attitude of running business is completely wrong and I am sure he would not be around very long. He is nasty. His language and behaviour is abusive. I should report him to consumer affairs department. There are so many hairdressers around, no one should need to experience what I experienced today. I did not let him upset me, I went to another good hairdresser who cut my hair to my liking. Nasty people are always the losing themselves and they will never be happy in this world.

Based on Yelp reviews, I went to take a look at the salon. It was very busy on a Wed afternoon, which I took as a good sign and made an appointment for Friday. Atsuko did a fantastic job cutting and coloring my hair. Her attention to detail was impressive - she spotted mistakes in my previous haircut that even I hadn't noticed, and was very careful the the color didn't splatter or run onto my skin or clothing. I brought some photos of my ideal cut - she did a great job marrying the style to what my hair actually does. She even gave me some tips on how to blow dry it better when I am doing it myself. Plus, she managed to pull this all off in less than 2 hours! (And it didn't feel rushed). My hair looks amazing and I am so happy with it! And even though they seem to always be busy, they are somehow able to fit people in on short notice so don't be shy about calling them.
