My only issues are with increased upselling of products and services that aren't necessary or covered by insurance. Spur of the moment upselling during an appointment can be a nuisance and it makes me uncomfortable to made to feel guilty for not buying tooth sealant or something. Then there is the upfront billing, they get paid up front for some services like extractions and crowns. However we end up getting one or more bills months after the procedure and sometimes a simple cleaning. We pay them but we never get an explanation for extra charges six or more months after the visit.

I used to go see Dr. Dennis Johnson, and once he retired, switched to his son, Ryan. My most recent experience was a broken back molar--not fun. I broke it around 7pm on a Tuesday and Ryan had me fixed and on my way by 1pm the following day! I cannot tell you how thankful I am to have access to such caring, compassionate, and competent professionals. I also have some anxiety around dental cleanings due to visiting a different dentist while I was out of state. Upon learning this, the entire office went above and beyond to make me comfortable and ease my anxiety. Even now, they take precautions to make sure I know exactly what is happening and check to ensure I am okay. I also have to mention Barb, who is just as important as the doctors and hygienists. She has been a staple of the front office for as long as I can remember. She is kind and caring, giving every client her undivided attention. She doesn't know you as a number, she knows you by name. One time, I had an outstanding bill and, due to moving, I was not receiving the statements and was unaware of it. Instead of sending my account to a bill collector or simply sending more statements, she picked up the phone and found out what was wrong. She wanted to make sure I was alright. I was able to correct the situation immediately thanks to her willingness to go above and beyond. As you can probably tell, I adore Dental Associates of Lancaster. I cannot recommend them enough. They should, in my opinion, be the model for all dental offices.
