My family has experienced different kinds of abuse, and was only made worse after I asked the government for help. I had never heard of Anita Cutrer until I saw her sign on my drive to work. (That could be a good thing in the world of family court). The fact she's board certified in Family Law made her stand out. When the words outside the office changed to "It seems impossible until it's done," I had to turn in. Karen is perfect for first impressions. She promptly greeted me, and had a friendly and inviting smile. I asked if Anita offered a special service, and was encouraged to schedule a complimentary consultation... I'm still shocked at how fast they got me in. When I came back for my appointment, I discovered Anita was awarded "Top 10 Family Law Attorney in Texas." That's huge and should be acknowledged. I haven't spoken with Anita personally, but Jennie, her lead paralegal, was very impressive. She had documents from my case printed, and pointed out some of the same concerns I already had. She asked key questions, listened without bias or interruption, took notes, and went back to the top to dig deeper. Jennie treated me like a person, and demonstrated what all legal defense should look and feel like. Most importantly, she cared about my children. I don't have the necessary funding to move forward and secure their representation at this time. However, I truly believe all the lies would've been stopped as soon as they started if my family had the "duty of care" I was shown today. If you have the means, make sure the law firm you hire has integrity, is qualified and prepared, takes your case for the right reasons, and desires to promote restoration. Do not use Cutrer Law Group. This should be a zero rating. They will cheat you and lie to you. I paid $14,058.55 for a mediated divorce. Issue 1) Anita showed up 10 minutes late to the mediation. She had no idea of what was in her folder. They sent me an email with a supposed copy of a financial statement. What I got was a 16 page PDF from an unformatted 2 page spreadsheet. Completely Illegible. 2) Billing for things that were not done. I was charged for a status meeting on 2/14/25 for a status meeting when Anita told me she was in Houston. The opposing attorney has the account number for the 401k from the documents we exchanged for mediation. Regarding the IRA, if you haven't already done so, you and your ex need to sign certain documents to effectuate the transfer. I don't know how to fix the toll tag charges, but I will try to find a solution next week. I had sent 2 emails asking a yes or no answer. She was to busy to reply but I got billed $84.15 for her attending a meeting when she was out of town. This was the 3rd attempt to get the same answers to the same questions. I got billed for all 3 attempts. No answers on all 3 attempts. Anita claimed in the billing that they emailed the opposing attorney, yet when I asked for copies of those communications she told me that they only called them. I got served a non compliance order from the court on 4/3/25. Cutrer Law Group was still under retainer by me. When I reached out to them to see why I was being served Anita told me that "they were waiting for me to tell them what to do". Why did I hire them? Is it not the job of the attorney to advise the client? I received one email after the final divorce decree. Email from Anita on 2/19/25 Dear Ron, I just wanted to let you know that the Judge signed your Final Decree of Divorce today. That means that you are divorced. However, there are a few items that we need to complete in order to effectuate the property division. Sincerely, Anita K. Cutrer, Cutrer Law Group 304 Harwood Rd. I strongly advise people NOT to do business with this law firm. They took my money but wasn't getting the divorce moving forward, kept asking for more money, so I had to fire them and start over with another lawyer at additonal expense. I hope the State Bar sides with me on some kind of refund. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. What should have been a straightforward case turned into a prolonged and unnecessarily expensive ordeal due to this firm's repeated mistakes and lack of attention to detail. I frequently had to follow up myself, only to uncover yet another error--calls for which I was also billed. I was misinformed multiple times, and there seemed to be an expectation that I would simply accept these issues without question. Unfortunately, by the time it became clear how poorly things were being handled, I had already invested too much time and money to start over with a different firm. I'm relieved to finally be done and strongly urge others to avoid this firm. read more

I am thoroughly disappointed in the service Anita provided. or should I say a lack there of. I did not feel at all she had my best interest in mind or that she was willing to fight for my case. if I'm being honest she gave the impression that she did not care at all. I even overheard her talking to the opposing lawyer in regards to me in a negative way. Almost as if she were annoyed by me. She never gave straightforward answers when I asked her questions and did not show much interest when I was speaking to her about my concerns. I paid a $7500 retainer up front in full and they ate through that very quickly, with only a small balance left when I decided to request her withdrawal from my case. I ultimately decided to agree to the opposing's request because I could not afford to continue with what seemed to be an utter waste of time. the first time I was scheduled to meet at her office I didn't even get to meet her at all. which should have been my first indication to find someone else. before even meeting her I just received an email from her explaining how busy she was, to put it short. she did however mention that when it was my time all attention would be on me. however this also appeared to not be the case. our first day in court I was told by her office to be there at 9am. I was there and had been waiting about half an hour before she finally appeared but was with another client. I then waited an hour before she actually spoke to me. we were suppose to have a hearing but the judge didn't have time for us now so it got rescheduled. the next time we went to court, we again did not have a hearing because the lawyers were both not in the courtroom when the judge called us twice. therefore we missed our window again. other things I noticed was that she kept calling my son "my daughter" and wrote names down incorrectly on documents. I don't know if she wasn't paying attention or just simply did not care. overall the entire thing was a waste of time and money I quite honestly didn't have. It has been maybe a month now since the withdrawal from my case and I have not heard a word or seen any refund of my remaining balance. I am so distraught and frankly depressed from this whole experience. if you need an attorney for child custody case please look elsewhere and don't waste your money. read more

My experience with Anita Cutrer as my family law attorney was very disappointing. As mistakes were found and incorrect information was provided throughout my 7 month child custody battle, I found myself spending an excessive amount of time double checking her work. After she failed to appear in court in April 2019 due to a "personal matter", I lost confidence in her ability to represent me. We were too far into the process for me to consider hiring another attorney.
