I was making pants for the first time and they were different colors, so the materials had to work well together as far as weight and appearance. This is a family-owned, Black-owned, women-owned, small business in the Bronx and they don't stop at just offering fabric, trimmings and tailoring. They also host sewing camps for kids and adults. They have various types of machines thta you cna come in to try out and see what might work for you. The prices of their fabrics are reasonable. I did purchase some shears that I was able to find for less money elsewhere, and I was able to return them in exchange for store credit. This policy did not bother me because I plan to return for more fabric, as our cosplay is quickly becoming an annual tradition, but be advised that you will get store credit in lieu of a full refund. Owners, Clarissa and Nadine, are very knowledgeable and a wealth of tips and suggestions. If you're just starting our, they are perfect to answer any questions you may have. I'm fairly new and went in not know what I could do. I basically just explained my dilemma and was directed to the best fabric for what I wanted to construct. It was the first time I ever made pants, two-toned no less, and they came out amazing. When I visited, I had my kiddo with me and she was gifted with some scrap fabric and an elastic band, and a quick tutorial to construct a simple scrunchie. She was super ecstatic and I hope she takes to sewing as I have. I will definitely be regularly visiting for my cosplay construction needs.

It works out these Five & Below stores exist - especially this one on White Plains Rd. in Soundview. I had bought hubs' great-grand 2 yr-old nephew a summer outfit from Old Navy a few doors down- but I needed a Birthday gift bag ASAP. Service from the floor person was efficient and speedy as helped me locate the Birthday section and reading books elsewhere. Thank you! Some areas of this store are a bit disheveled- but they seem like they'll get around to it 'some time'. Got my bag and two reading books then called it a day.

For those unfamiliar with the brand, think everything you didn't know you needed but for $5 or less. When I say everything I mean it. Arts & Crafts, Health & Wellness, loungewear, graphic T's, beauty & makeup, pet necessities, and etc. You are guaranteed to find something useful on every visit. This locations seems to be well maintained with a variety of inventory. A good new edition to the area. Just A Note: Other locations have a tendency to be messy. Hope this location maintains its upkeep and inventory.

I arrived Wednesday evening to pick the prints and was told scornfully "I told you Thursday or Friday" . The man was not only wrong but very combative in his tone and language. I can understand if the prints were not made by the set pickup date but I can not understand the need to act defensively and the attempt to shift blame onto me, the paying client. The man told me I could come back Thursday and I asked if he was positive and he confirmed. He said he would text me when they were done and I left. I walked in Thursday afternoon and the man said "you're here to pick up the prints aren't you, I told you Thursday or Friday and that I would text you". He wasn't apologetic he was annoyed. I countered he confirmed they would be ready Thursday and he became even more argumentative and dismissive. Regardless of the pick up times that were argued, this is extremely poor customer service. I paid in advance for a service which was not rendered in the agreed upon timeframe and instead of being accommodating or at the least kind about it I was met with contempt and made to feel like I was an annoyance. This is inexcusable. Please do yourself a favor and avoid this place.

Well lit, SUPER ORGANIZED, a filled to the brim with stunning fabric. It is paradise! The prices were very reasonable, especially if you're used to ordering online or in fb groups.
