I am one semester away from completing my Master of Science degree in Human Services Administration…read morefrom Wilmington University. I really cannot say enough how excellent my experience has been. This university is not perfect and not for everyone. The working professional seems to be their niche as most of their programs are designed for those with professional experience already who can use their experiences to contribute to the online classroom and foster learning amongst everyone, the professors included. I have taken online courses at a state University where I completed my Bachelor's degree and didn't have quite as good of an experience as I have had at WilmU. At first, I was very reluctant to enroll in this school and when I did I had thought about transferring. But a strange thing happened. I actually started looking forward to my classes and engaging with my instructors. The course content interested me and made me want to do more and learn more. Most of the instructors that I have had thus far are very fair graders, provide valuable feedback, and have shown a genuine interest in my success as a student in the program. Why didn't I give it 5 stars? Mainly because there have been a couple of professors that were just plain awful I'm sorry to say. I really hate that a few bad apples ruin the whole bunch, but these two professors really should think about a different career path. With these professors, I was brutally honest in my course evaluations in hopes that someone will read them and hopefully make some positive changes. Despite the criticism of a couple of the professors, all of the others I had were fantastic. Professor Fischer-Klein, you are amazing and really inspire me to continue my career in this field. Professor Martin, your feedback and willingness to engage with students about how to further our careers in human services has been so appreciated. To be successful at this University you have to have a commitment to your chosen field and show that in the work you do. The old saying is you get what you give and that is very true with Wilmington University. I would definitely recommend this school to any hard working professional that is eager to learn and grow in their chosen profession. I have read some of the criticism in the other reviews and honestly, if you are looking for a University that is going to hold your hand from enrollment to graduation this may not be the place for you. This University is geared toward working and mature professionals that are resourceful and capable of taking initiative to get things done. No handholding here and I appreciate that about WilmU.

I had no idea about the college enrollment process. One day, I got on the website for Delaware…read moreTech and emailed a random person asking them the process for enrolling at Delaware Tech. Mrs. Bernat emailed me back and told me to call her. This wonderful lady explained the step by step enrollment process. Because she was so kind and eager to help me, I enrolled in fall semester of 2012. I filled out an admissions form online. I called to schedule a placement test. After the placement test, I spoke to a college advisor that helped me choose my classes. My college advisor, Mr. Handling, is wonderful. Mr. Handling has taken the time to understand my educational needs, which has made my transition to college much easier. He has guided me in choosing the appropriate classes for my major. This summer, I decided to take summer classes. Mr. Handling advised me that summer math classes required lots of work in a short period of time. He suggested that I only take two classes this semester. I am so glad I listened to him. The college advisors at Delaware Tech truly care about the academic success of the students that seek their guidance. My most challenging class was my math class this summer. I could not have passed my math class if it was not for my previous math teacher Marney and my current teacher Amanda. In addition, there is a wonderful group of tutors at the Math Success Center. I spent my summer at the Math Success Center being tutored by Marty, Chelsea, Rich, Kyle, Paul and Sam. I was really struggling to learn algebra, however, with the help and encouragement of all the staff members at the center I passed my class. I could not thank the math center staff enough for their dedication and determination to see me and other students do well in class. They truly do care and strive to help everyone that enters the Math Success Center. The service is free and worth taking advantage of. I am truly grateful and appreciate every person that has sat with me and encourage me at the Math Success Center. I truly love being a student at Delaware Tech. The teachers and staff are super friendly. The College student body is very diverse. There are many non-traditional college students such as myself. I was scared to be the oldest person in class. It is wonderful being in a class with people as young as 18 and old enough to be a grandparent. I truly love Delaware Tech!
