Sometimes a personal story, tells you everything you need to know about a place or a product versus…read morea review that is generically nice or harsh. For that reason, this review is a personal story. i'm embarrassed to say that the La Grange Animal Hospital was my second choice to care for our family cat, Stryker. I wish they had been my first as our family's cat would have received much better care upfront, been diagnosed accurately sooner, and possibly survived the autoimmune disease that eventually took his life (IMHA). Due to my tragic mistake, I'd advise other pet parents to choose a vet based on care and reputation rather than proximity to your home. When I realized that my original veterinarian was not able to diagnose the condition accurately after two separate visits two weeks apart, despite the Complete Blood Count (CBC) showing an alarming low level of red blood cells, and a very high white blood cell count, I took Stryker to La Grange Animal Hospital. Dr. Sheehan and her staff examined him thoroughly and , unfortunately, this time the CBC came back even more alarming (even lower results on the red and even higher results on the white). Due to her experience with cats, Dr. Sheehan recognized the auto immune disease called IMHA. Even though it was disturbing that Stryker was so sick, I was relieved that someone had a clue what was going on and knew how to treat it. On a course of antibiotics and steroids, over the next few weeks, Stryker seemed to get better and better. In the end though, the effects of IMHA were more than his 14 year-old body could handle. The disease stopped responding to steroids. We took him in to the hospital on an "ER basis" when it became apparent that he was no longer responding to the treatment. They did all they could possibly do to support him and try to get him back to health, however, he passed away that evening in the hospital. When Dr. Sheehan called to give us the news, she was very comforting. She let us know that a 14-year-old cat is the equivalent of a 90 year-old human. We realized then that we had made the right choices and there wasn't much else we could have done. I felt even better that I had at least gotten him to the right place. I wish I had just done it sooner. If you have a beloved family cat, I highly recommend that you put that cat in the care of La Grange Animal Hospital and Dr. Sheehan. She is highly experienced, very thorough, and very direct. She's very serious about what she does and very good at it. It seems to me that most veterinarians are very familiar with dogs and can take good care of them. Cats however, are a bit of a different challenge. They really require care from a veterinarian who understands their unique biology and behavior. I'm sure La Grange Animal Hospital is great for cats AND other pets, but Dr. Sheehan and her staff seem to really understand cats. If you're a cat lover, this is definitely the place for you and your pet(s)! I'd also like to mention that La Grange Animal Hospital took Stryker in on an emergency basis where there is a bit of a larger cost. Since they were unable to save him, they waived that charge out of respect for Stryker's passing. The bill at the end was simply for the supplies and drugs used urgently trying to get him back to better health. It is very clear that La Grange Animal Hospital and Dr. Sheehan are big-hearted! As a sidenote, I noticed that charges for exams, medications, and specialized foods were less costly than my previous vet charged for the same services and products . I believe Dr. Sheehan and her staff do what they do because they love the animals not because they love a big paycheck. As an animal lover, that means more to me and my family than anything else.

High paws and woofs!…read more We are here for grooming and nail cutting for the fur babies. We made the appointment over the phone. Booked the time slot with Elizabeth. Flawless service. You will need to text a current rabies vaccination to the staff before service. The day of the appointment, the staff labeled the sign outside with our pups names being groomed for the day. It's the small attention to detail that makes this groomer best. They pups got a personalized scarf after she was all done with her name. Now they ran into some issues grooming my Maltese pup. She's a senior pup with a prior injury that needs grooming to have specific needs. After explanation all was well . This particular pup did not care to be blow dried. The noise was too much. They used care to make her happy. The hair cut was already done, so we opted to just take her home a little damp. In fact she was mostly dry when we got in the car and put the heater on her. Our other pup was brushed out and had her nails clipped. The groomer, Taylor was kind and gentle with our Aussie pup. Another dog being groomed was unhappy and barking. With our dog's unease of the loud noise she was able to trim her nails and make her look great. They sell an extremely good quality selection of treats. At around $1.89 a pound and it's a pick and choose selection. Exceptional. The pups were even given samples to make sure they were right for their liking. If it's dawg approved, it's good for me. These pups are our children. They are spoiled rotten. We ended up with some odd ends to feed them later in the week. All the products made here are made in house and tested by the staff since they have furry babies too. Until the next time we return for grooming or some sort of snack that the dogs need. Highly recommended with any sort of dog. The staff are kind and gentle. They listen to the owner and what they want. Felt comfortable having the opportunity to trust my pets grooming and health needs because they are senior dogs cared for here.

Weedon had a great time and look fabulous after the grooming. So, thank you woof Gang team for such a 5-star service that clearly made a difference as He was so refreshed and happy after the grooming. Taylor Brown was our groomer and she did a fantastic job! The bandana was adorable and my boyfriend was so busy that day with meetings. That I am actually super excited that I was able to provide weedon with some support by driving him to his groomers that day. We will continue to take Weedon to Woof Gang...Thank you all keep up the good treats, I will buy some of the soccer balls for Weedon next time we're there or next time I make it to Barne's and Nobles...simply adorable! It was really a wonderful reminder that we need to make sure Weedon has a more organized grooming schedule based on his coat. Thank you,

I called them, and they told me no hesitation to bring her in ASAP and they'd get my info over the phone. As soon as I got my girl there, they got our exam room squared away and she was taken back. My dog is pretty nervous in new situations, she get anxious and stressed out pretty easily. When they brought her back to me, she was alert and happy, smiling all over the place. I'd trust this clinic (and Dr. Sydney) with my dogs any day. I'm very thankful I found them! Thank you, and Lilah Bean thanks you!

The next day, they called with a few questions and asked about my dog's age. They told me that if she was a puppy, the visit would cost around $200. I explained that she was 4 years old, not a puppy. Surprisingly, they never even asked for her actual birthdate and instead entered a random birthday into her records. When I arrived for the appointment, the staff was not very friendly. They informed me that my dog would have to receive a "first visit package" for $355.10, which included several exams that were never even performed. To make matters worse, their website advertised $25 off the first visit, but that discount was never applied. Another thing that made me uncomfortable was that they took my dog out of the exam room to give her vaccines. I've never had a veterinary office do that before, and it made me uneasy. There were just too many things that went wrong during this visit. The inaccurate information in my dog's records, the unexpected charges, the advertised discount not being honored, the exams that weren't performed, and the overall lack of professionalism made this the worst veterinary experience I've ever had. I genuinely do not recommend Crestwood Animal Hospital. I hope sharing my experience helps someone else avoid the stress and anxiety that this visit caused me.
