We had to wipe down every WALL, in addition to every horizontal surface. They did not complete the job in the timeline promised, simply not installing quarter-round trim in two rooms. (Despite an email promising the job was complete.) They left a door UNLOCKED, windows unlocked and lights on. (We were away, so our home was like this for about a week.) Polyurethane was dripped on walls and a kitchen cabinet. Woodwork took a beating from their equipment in several places. A nightmare.

Be Cautious: Mother/Daughter Widow/Single, Siding replacement & Storm damage from Tree Fall…read more Left construction debris & nails in yard & driveway despite multiple requests to magnet sweep & clean their work area. 12ft pallets also left in the driveway. Poor communication & coordination between Evan's & skilled labor on site. Site supervisor was MIA for start of work. Homeowner had to modify work schedule to answer questions from skilled labor while Evan's site supervisor wasn't available & relay messages & site issues to Evan's.. Skilled laborers consistently expressed concern about materials not being available for tasks & left job unfinished. Work completed by site supervisor who didn't install per manufacturer's instructions & Evan's would not correct. They didn't abide by the contract which included & was quoted for replacement of broken wood from tree falling on roof in storm. Evan's repaired broken & splintered wood by either splicing or leaving broken pieces in place & nailing to 2x4s underneath. Structural, but not what was agreed upon in writing. Despite homeowner real-time feedback & suggestions daily during installation based on knowledge gained at an installation workshop hosted by the siding manufacturer AND the manufacturer corroborating the homeowner's feedback post installation after being invited to inspect by Evan's, Evan's STILL didn't correct all installation issues. They only repaired the most extreme issues, but the majority were left in place. They stated they'd been doing this for 30 years implying there was no way there was an issue & despite their policy stating to just call if there is an issue. If the siding manufacturer tells you there's an issue, I think it's an issue! Opinion: Obviously issues are not their concern from the way this job was mishandled & my concerns were disregarded from day one. Evan's removed back doorstep & didn't replace it. Original step still laying in the middle of the yard. Disconnected A/C unit without notice & left for the day, multiple instances. Rewired air conditioning unit incorrectly, throwing/sparking breakers. Broke internet fiber, required AT&T to repair. Despite all the above, payment was cashed within hours of receipt. Opinion: Apparently someone in the company prioritizes and has availability for what they need despite their claims to be customer-focused.

The other being overly sturdy for safety, and I got that too. While expensive up front, the benefits far outweigh recurring maintenance cost and personal effort. Pat and Top Deck would be my first call -likely my only call- if I needed a deck or patio space built in the future. With a product and system that lasts forever, I'd have to create a problem myself, though. Pat himself is relaxed and relatable, about 40 years experience, and we discussed options and adjustments while factoring the quote. The crew members are all friendly and good craftsmen. Top Deck builds a lot of deck spaces, one job at a time, so you get the care, not the rush. My deck took a week during November '23. The three crew members: Matt, Andy, and Benito, kept hours about 8:30-4:30/5. Said hello, kept me updated, and generally, just got to it. They set aside for me, the pieces from the removal I wanted to keep for a project. All the measurements for lining up boards was done precisely. Their clean-up included a magnet sweep, which I appreciated, and they moved everything back to where I keep it. If there was one thing to pass along, request they tarp some areas before cutting and drilling(anything that creates shavings.). Builder crews don't really sweep up, I get it, but working with the composite, the shavings are all plastic, not wood! A tarp over some areas as prep could have caught most of the plastic if not running a collection system during the build or a shop vac after. Get your other bids, then go with Top Deck.

The closed a gap between the 1-story roof and the main body of the house, where water had been leaking inside. They replaced the spinning metal gizmo (name?) that had gotten knocked loose. Most recently, they came to repair flashing around a chimney that had come loose and then found rotten wood under the shingles. They gave me a choice: a lower-cost repair that would suffice or a more expensive repair done the way, in an ideal world, it should be done. I appreciated their giving me the choice, and I opted for the more thorough approach. While here, they examined the other chimney and caulked it. I will continue to reply on Reger and have recommended them to friends who are likewise, happy with their service.
