I ordered Graber window coverings for my home in Sandy, Utah. The decorator and the installer were both great, however, the products were inferior. One of our shutter blinds arrived damaged. We were told that a new one would be ordered and it would be replaced. Another shutter blind is falling apart and needs to be fixed. One of our roller blinds started fraying on the first day. The other roller blind seems fine, but it never gets touched. I called Costco in Feb. and was told I would receive a call back back within 48 hours. Several days past and I finally received a call from the installer. He said he would order the parts to fix everything, and call me back to arrange a time to come. That was 2 months ago. Over $3,000 down the drain, I wish I would have gone with a different local business. read more

We bought the upgraded carpet with an unbelievable warranty. Well, the warranty is questionable. We had our sales rep come out to inspect not longer after the install. He made excuses for the poor wear of the carpet. We called him back again and expressed our disappointment with the carpet matting and seams showing badly. Excuses again. We're now 4 years out and our carpet looks like a cheap-throwaway rug used in apartments. We've again contacted Costco and finally after many calls they said a Shaw rep would come by and inspect. Very disappointed with the merchandise and service from Costco on this issue. Though we've never had issues with Costco in the past. We really regret buying our carpet there. I have had the worst customer service experience for the last 5 months with this company. I too used the Costco link. The salesman canceled twice before finally making his appointment. We order 6 shades, including a blackout shade for the bedroom. This was September 1st. 2.5 months later (yes!) the installer arrived and put them all up. Then I noticed, not him, that the shades were of 2 different colors, none the correct patter. Also the office shade was too big and the blackout shade had 3 holes in it. It took another month for the salesperson to return, re-measure and submit the order. Repeated calls to their customer service department went unreturned or "we don't know responses. The installer received the shades December 19th and is to install them today, January 15. His was scheduled to arrive at 9 a.m. It is now 12:30 p.m. and he called at 11 to say he is on his way. We bought upgraded carpet and pad from COSTCO last summer and it is becoming more and more of a nightmare. The installers kept giving us excuses about seams that were showing. At first he said they were not seams but creases in the carpet. Now every seam in my master bedroom is showing. The sales rep has been out to the house several times and promised to get an installer back to fix the job, but unless I keep calling, I have gotten no results. I bought the carpet from COSTCO because I have been impressed with their service in the past, but i can not recommend COSTO and At Home Carpet and Flooring. read more

This company is a JOKE!!! 2 Months in and No one will call me back. Just put a stop payment on my credit card. Can not believe that Costco does business with a company like this! This is exactly what we were trying to avoid. Blinds were wrong size so we told them to take them back. Now after 4 different measurement sessions, I was told that they want to remeasure, I told them NO. The Graber rep was supposed to come out with the installer. He was a no show. The installer showed up and told me he was supposed to install the blinds, when I asked if they were new, he told me no. So I told him he could not install the old blinds. He was not happy to say the least. Now no-one will call us back and we are being given the run around... Do not give your money to these people. I found out from the installer that Costco, a company I like, just cancelled their contract with Custom Decorators. Custom Decorators still has deals with Home Depot and Macy's though - beware. Here's my short story: we started our order with Custom Decorators on May 28. It is Oct 25 today. The job is still not complete. Of the 3 shutters that were installed, 2 are were not installed correctly. The others were built incorrectly and had to be redone, 3 times!. Even though it has been so long and I just want the work to be done, I am going to try to get all my money back and buy the shutters elsewhere. read more

Yelp why do they have to have 1 star? They did not even *earn* a 1 star rating. This is a zero star review. This company has failed more times than is even believable. I ordered my Hunter Douglas blinds and shades in July 2015. Here I am in Dec 2016 and they still do not work. In nearly every case they mis-measured, installed the wrong product, tracks or clamps. They have been out to fix my drapes 4 times before they go them to work. One installer said the other guy got the installation wrong 3 different times. The electric blinds have needed 5 visits on their own. Yes, 5 visits for blinds, plus at least one more to go You call them up for an update and they just sit on their hands and do nothing. Months go by and they haven't pushed the status any further, even when you've become a "VIP Customer". Utterly clueless on all aspects of their business. read more

They were the design team that came out to the house and sold me ~$5700 shutters, purchased through Costco. They said that because Costco no longer sells hunter douglas, they would not be able to help me order replacement pieces or get install people to help me repair even for a price. 6 months ago we chose Hunter Douglas for shades and window shutters. We happily paid the $7,000 for 8 windows knowing that we would get Hunter Douglas quality. They also had an authorized decorator in Sonoma County, CA Here we are 6 months later still waiting for the quality. Several of the shutters arrived broken. We are now waiting for the 4th repair visit. We've had as many as half the windows with broken shutter slats for months and now we are down to one. They rarely return phone calls and the local authorized decorator stopped returning our calls once the check was cashed. . Be very careful engaging with Costco for Hunter Douglas blinds. I purchased over $14,000 worth of blinds last year. One of my blinds is now broken and has been for 6 weeks after many calls with apologies and the parts been shipped "be there in 3 days" with temporary blinds on the way .. that was July 30 and I am still waiting it's 16 August. Customer service is appalling .. another point re the lifetime warranty. Within the year of installation someone will come to your home after that you have to ship them to Hunter Douglas yourself. Not sure how I am going to uninstall blinds that are 30ft up and currently a 6ft 9ft blind that won't retract in the mail. read more

I check YELP a lot when I am looking fo a product or service, I find these reviews interesting and they did cause me to question calling Costco/Custom Decorators for my blinds. However I did and I want to say that the service I received from start to finish was outstanding The desinger that came to my home was informative and helpfull, she answered all my questions and concerns. I did have another company out as well and the pricing was in the same ball park. I went with Costco/Custom Decorators and I am so glad I did. My blinds were installed within 3 1/2 weeks and look great. I agree you should do your homework, but we can't judge an entire company by 3 bad or even one good one. read more

My parents have Hunter Douglas window shades that I love and I wanted some just like theirs. I went through Costco's vendor, Custom Decorators. The salesperson never explained or demonstrated the product. We told him what we wanted, and he gave us the wrong product name and options. I had no idea I wasn't getting what I had asked for until installation. The salesman and customer service blamed me for buying the wrong thing. The best they could do was offer to sell me a new set of shades and would not take the old ones back. When I spoke with the supervisor regarding the terrible job the salesperson did with presenting information, she insisted that "she wasn't there" so she couldn't verify anything I had to say. Why would I lie? What did I stand to gain from having the wrong product in my house?! Costco was willing to let me pay the difference between what I got and what I originally wanted. That was fair, but CD had the same salesperson call me to order the new set of shades. He left a message that was really sarcastic and rude. Starting in December 2008, Custom Decorators created a problem for me which has not be resolved. My carpeting (purchased through Costco) was originally installed seven or eight years ago. It was in excellent condition, according to one of the reps from Custom Decorators. I had a very large roll of extra carpeting because the original installers made a mistake (specifically, they did not follow the instructions given to them by Custom Decorators) and had to redo most of the job. My husband died on the carpet in July 2006, and I could never get the stains out. I called Custom Decorators. For a fee of $100 they would send a person to see whether I had enough in the left-over roll to replace the stained carpeting in my back hall. I agreed to the fee. Someone measured and said I had enough. I agreed to the fee for installation. Carpet layers came and botched the job. I did not have enough carpeting, and the pile on the piece I did have went in the wrong direction. I specifically told them I did not want a seam in the middle of the hall. Nevertheless, the carpet was laid with a seam in the hall. When I called Custom Decorators, I learned that their contractor who had installed the piece, Coverall, had gone out of business. Thus began an eight-month struggle with Custom Decorators to fix the botched job. To exacerbate an already unsatisfactory situation, the dye lot of my original carpeting was no longer available. It took months to come up with something vaguely close to the original. I was very unhappy, but something had to be done. Because my den was one of the areas that needed re-carpeting, my bookcases were dissembled. I had boxes of book and CDs and knick-knacks all over the house, including the kitchen, dining room, living room, my office, and my bedroom. After EIGHT months of living in complete chaos, I reluctantly agreed to have the closest possible color carpeting installed. I mean RELUCTANTLY. They kept telling me I had no other choice and it was the best they could do. I felt like I was being beaten up emotionally by the company. My only choice, they said, was to live with the first job or agree to having a mismatched piece installed. I caved. Enough was enough. I wish I could say it helped. It did not. I am miserably unhappy. The match is noticeably poor. The seams are awful. George from Custom Decorators came here to repair the hole in the ceiling the carpet installers made when they took apart the bookcase. He saw the bad seams, and he tried to make them look better by combing over them. Well, the seams were done poorly and they will never look good, no matter home many attempts are made. Plus, the carpet in the hall does not match the original carpeting, and the mismatch is obvious. I got embroiled and victimized by this because I was assured I had enough of the original carpeting for the job. Had the person who measured my extra roll told me the truth--to wit: you don't have enough to do the job without a seam, and the pile on what you do have will lay in the wrong direction--I never would have proceeded. Now I have a mess, which has devalued my home. Every day I looki at the botched job and wish I could turn back the clock to the day the Custom Decorators representative who measured the carpet had told me the truth. I have reported this to Costco. Costco spoke to Joe at Custom Decorators in Portand. They're satisfied. I'm not, but I have to live with this. It will NEVER look better. I had a realtor here this week to give me an estimate and advice. The first thing she noticed was the bad carpeting job. "It looks like pieced-together remnants that don't match." I am a senior citizen and a widow. I simply do not have the strength to open initiate another protracted battle with Custom Decorators, especially after living in chaos for eight months last year. They ruined my carpeting, but the "best they could do for me" was to give me another botched job. What do I want? I had a wonderful experience and now have beautiful new wood floors upstairs and down. The designer suggested a wood (hickory with variegated colors) for upstairs and I never would have thought of it....went with it and it is fabulous. The installers were a very nice to work with. They spent a great deal of time getting the stairs right. They moved the furniture and had it back in place perfectly....no mess and everything was put back with no damage. I just read the review at the bottom...and I guess there can be a bad experience now and then but really, mine was perfect. Measuring was exact and everything came very quickly. The suggestions the designer made were excellent and I have him to thank for my great upstairs. I have windows to do now and definitely will go to Costco to have Custom Decorators do those too. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE!!! The designer they sent to the house was a crook. I ordered my blinds in September and I am still waiting for my "correct" order, and it's now February. The price started off 1523.24$ and has now climbed to over 2600$, for two 3'x4' windows. Do not pay them by credit card because even though the work still isn't done yet, my card has been charged for the full amount anyway. I am so disappointed with window coverings through Costco. I didn't consider price shopping because it's Costco and they generally have great quality for great price along with outstanding customer service. Not the case with window coverings. The entire process was poor. Prior to the appointment the rep, Cathryn, was rude and disorganized. She asked for my address approximately 8 different times. Also asking for the cross streets every time. She argued with me over my homes location. Crazy thing, a simple navigation app on a smart phone would have solved these incessant questions. I politely explained regarding apt times that I worked until 4:30pm so if late afternoon apts were available that would be ideal, but I understood if that wasn't the case. She made a huge ordeal out of a 4:00pm apt. I felt horrible as though I had ruined her life. A simple no would have sufficed. She asked me exactly what I wanted on my windows prior to my apt, again, several different times. When she finally arrived for the apt she parked in the middle of my driveway. She brought in a single book that had cheap plastic mini blinds, which is exactly what I didn't want. When I explained I wanted Fabric Roman shades or something similar she was rude and put out and told me I didn't tell her that over the phone and those samples were in her car. I did explain exactly that over the phone several different times. She required me to walk to her car with her and carry the two books back into the house. Her customer service was horrible. She proceeded to tell me several times I couldn't afford what I wanted and she kept pushing me towards what I didn't want. I did not indicate a dollar amount I was prepared to spend, so it's not up to her to tell me if I can or can't afford something. We agreed upon something finally. We are desperate to get window coverings up because we have black paper on the windows (new house). Once i signed and paid for everything she was more pleasant. Fast forward to 4 days after she came to the house. She called to tell me we can't have the cord system we were charged for. My only choice was a standard cord. I have a 2 year old and a standard cord isn't safe. She knew I did not want a standard cord and I specifically said I would pay extra for whatever the options were other than a standard cord. Not only did she tell me on the call that standard cord was the only option, she said it was going to cost me the same as the upgraded option. But my invoice indicated she had charged me nearly $800 for the upgraded option. She told me I had to sign an email she would be sending saying the standard cord was ok. I told her I was not ok with the standard cord and again she told me I had no option. I told her to cancel my order if standard cord was my only option. She hung up on me. The following day she called me again angry that she couldn't charge my card. I had my bank refuse the charge. When I explained again I wasn't paying for standard cord she screamed obscenities at me and hung up. I met with Horizon Window Coverings today and ordered exactly what I had through Costco, got the cord system I wanted, and everything is $1800 less. And I had excellent customer service. Get on your game Costco, because your window covering service is a giant fail. read more

We are long time Costco customers and have always been satisfied, however this was a huge departure. We ordered Graber woven woods through Costco in Kona Hawaii for our condo. The installer was condescending from the start. There was an issue with the valance which they corrected but the blinds were much too short. At first, the installer told us that the reason that they were too short was because there was carpet on the floor when they measured. We have solid wood floors. No carpet. Then he said the reason they were short was because they will stretch. These are vertical wood blinds. We have confirmed that they do not stretch. We finally got them to come back. They were rude, marched in, said nothing, and went to work on the blinds. They did not measure, or look, or ask if we were satisfied. They said we had mentioned that the blinds were at least 3/4" too short, so that's what they were going to do, lower them 3/4" and leave. The blinds are still too short, and the edges are warped, so they curve. The valances are crooked. We are hugely disappointed. Costco sent us a $150 gift card. Their satisfaction guarantee does not apply to their contractors. Costco is great, but I will never again use any of their contractors. We have looked at woven woods in other homes, and they look much better and are the correct length. Better to deal with a private company. read more

The thought of having to choose new blinds was overwhelming - all the colors! all the styles! Shelly made the whole process very easy for me. She is efficient, helpful and pleasant to work with. Best of all I felt she was honest in helping me pick out the right color for my blinds. Tom the installer showed up at my front door at exactly the time he said he would be here! I purchased Hunter Douglas duette blinds through Costco/Custom Decorators at the end of 2011. As I recall, service had to be rescheduled and some of the blinds didn't fit the window when they first arrived, but we had a wonderful installer who handled all the problems and finally got everything installed nicely. We were satisfied. Now, a year and a half after installation, we experienced our first problem with the blinds. An interior cord on one of the ultraglide blinds broke. No worries, I thought. I'll just contact Costco. But Costco told me they had terminated their contract with Hunter Douglas and referred me to the Hunter Douglas' warranty department. Our warranty says that the operating cords are fully guaranteed for 7 years after purchase and states, "Hunter Douglas window fashion products are covered for defects in materials, workmanship or failure to operate for as long as the original retail purchaser owns the product.," but the Hunter Douglas representative I spoke to merely gave me the name of a dealer in my area and said that I would be responsible for the repair costs. If this first early cord breakage is any clue, we may be in for lots of expensive repairs for our house full of these very pricey blinds. This is not what we were promised when we first saw the blinds and questioned the rather flimsey-looking cords. At that time, the Design Consultant assured us that there was a very good warranty on the blinds that would cover any breakage or malfunctioning. However, the warranty on these blinds is essentially worthless, and the consumer is left on his/her own when there is a problem. We chose to buy through Costco because we had always had good experiences with product returns, but Costco left us high and dry. Hunter Douglas does not stand behind its stated warranty. Don't buy from Hunter Douglas and be wary of any of Costco's custom decorator promises. read more

I cannot say it better than a previous reviewer - these guys flat out suck in EVERY way. we ordered our blinds 6 months ago. they came to measure. not sure what they measured as when the blinds arrived they discovered - after 3 hours of trying to install - that they were the wrong measurements. they went away and left less than half the blinds installed and no single room had all the blinds in place. 6 months of chasing them - through hunter douglas, custom decorators, costco - absolutely no help. there is no direct number to reach CD - you call and sit on hold forever and no one answers. you leave a number to call back on and they don't call. They communicated with us through wrong numbers and emails no matter how many times we gave them the correct details and when they dud use the right number it was only to say that 'they were coming' and they left no number to call back on. This has been the single worst customer service experience ever - and i repeat - DO NOT get your blinds through Costco Custom Decorators. read more

I ordered my drapes and shutters in October with this sleezy designer named Marj, who at the time I thought was nice... they had assured me it would be installed well before Christmas, in the beginning of December.. well low and behold, they had delays and more delays.. the "director" tara lied through her teeth about the fact that it was rescheduled before new years.. but when I tried to get a hold of her and the designer Marj, they both ignored my phone calls. Everything they both said was a complete lie. I eventually talked to the director of marketing who confirmed their lies on the new install date and said that it was always intended to be installed after new years as the individual was on vacation starting beginning of December. Anyways, they eventually got installed only to discover that the designer Marj ordered the wrong brackets, the wrong size AND on top of it all the motorized track on these drapes did not work!! so yes another 2 months later after they were installed incorrectly and I'm still waiting! Use this company at your peril! Ordered new carpeting for my entire home. Arrived wrong color and even the two rolls shipped did not match. When called my decorator to ask for help...she said "I can't do anything for you. Call the office (Portland)." Person I spoke to in Portland office denied it was their problem. She said my options were to accept the shipped carpet or return it and pay a 25%, approx $2500, restocking charge. Was also told that they would not guarantee that reordered carpet would match the sample I based my purchase on. read more

I had the unfortunate experience of using this company thru Decorview which they own. Custom Decorators sub contracts sales people and calls them Design Consultants. Since there were no negative reviews on Yelp I decided to use them for Shades & Draperies.....big mistake......the Design Consultant measured all my shades to short and my draperies to long. Were talking over $5,000.00 in mistakes and 8 weeks for delivery. I am not going to name the "Design Consultant" but I do have to say the Installer named Joe was the rudest man I have ever met, he yelled at me because I asked him to remove his shoes and he then proceeded to insult the consultant who was not there at the time and tell me she has no idea what she is doing. I called the company and told them I did not want this man back in my house ever again, his attempt at intimidating me did not work. I bought patio door and closet shutters from Macys which is serviced by Custom Decorators. I would NEVER recommend using this group for your home window treatment needs. After the order was placed, the installer brought over the size wrong four times for one window area and twice for another so it took over a year to get it right - not kidding - with installers coming to my home with the wrong size and style. Then the shutters do not work correctly so I have had to have the installer come back to fix this problem more than once. The installer does not follow up - multiple calls and emails to the company are required. Their organization is chaotic and unprofessional and this company has very poor customer service although the product is OK. When one chooses to use Macys one does not know that it will not be Macys but Custom Decorators, a contracted service. I was going to use a local designer but I thought wrongly that going with Macys was more reliable. I strongly would discourage anyone from using this company for window installation because they are unreliable and cannot keep up with the demands. read more

I called Graber from Costco website to get consultation and a person visited our house from Trinity Uptown custom window coverings to sell the Graber products. She was very unprofessional and rude lady. She came, took measurements and didn't give me estimate and told me to wait for a day for an estimate. I received an estimate after 2 days and when I called back to place an order, she tried to make excuses and didn't want to come. So I called the trinity uptown and asked for some other rep. As I was tired of the excuses of that lady. As expected, another rep. Called me back and said he will visit us to get an order and to show us samples but he also never showed up. I wonder how their service would be if I had placed an order with them. So never ever buy anything like window coverings from Costco or GRABER OR TRINITY UPTOWN CUSTOM WINDOW COVERINGS. they are the most unprofessional ones. read more

The selection of colors available was unbelievable. Sales, communication, delivery and installation has no room for improvement. these guys are a vender for Costco for window coverings. we are VERY unhappy with this company. we looded at samples and told them what we we looking for. they steered us in another direction. after a long day of samples and going round and round we finally placed a $7000 order. when the blinds were installed we find out they were not even close to what we thought we were getting. the order was incorrect also. we wanted some of the blinds with the pull cords on left side. they all came in on the right side. most of the windows are about 65' high but all the cords came in very short. we need to climb on a step stool to open and close te blind. local rep is Richard Helton. read more
