We went over the rooms I wanted cleaned when he got there, and unlike other servicers, he didn't try to upsell me (which is always nice). It was just myself and him, and there was a lot of furniture I needed moved to get the job done. Boston graciously offered to help me move items (where I think many others would've waited till I did it myself). Overall, the carpets look good (although I think carpet cleaners pretty much all do the same job), and their rates were comparable. That didn't happen. The carpet was not damp, it was wet when he finished. His walking on the wet carpet in his black soled shoes left footprints throughout my house on the tile floors. The overflow hose with dirty water and chemicals was put in one of our bushes, I hope it doesn't die. Won't use them again. My Bissell carpet cleaner does a better job and extracts my moisture than their equipment.

The written documentation and quote I received clearly stated: "Each room is priced at $49, regardless of square footage. Hallways are $15 each x 2 = $30. Stairs are $49 per staircase and extra rooms are $49 each." Based on this explicit guarantee that square footage would not dictate or increase the flat room rate, I agreed to the service. However, once the technician arrived at my home, he completely contradicted the written policy. He stated that because the family room was large, my two hallways would be grouped together and billed as an entire "extra room" to adjust the cost. When I challenged this, pointing out their own rule that rooms are $49 "regardless of square footage," the technician deflected by pointing to the fine print at the bottom of the form, which reads: "all prices are estimates and confirmed on site before work starts."Promising a flat rate "regardless of square footage" to get a foot in the door, only to use an on-site confirmation clause as a loophole to charge more for large spaces, is a clear bait-and-switch tactic. A business must be held accountable for its explicit pricing statements; fine print regarding on-site confirmations should be used to verify the accuracy of the room count, not to completely invalidate a written guarantee.
